What happened to 'EU is BEGGING Serbia to join'?

Nobody ever said that EU is begging anyone to join. The fact is, what Vucic wanted to say, is that if Serbia doesn't get a date, it would be hard to explain to the people why shouldn't we give up on all EU deal. The support for Eu in Serbia is dropping rapidly. Its for the better probably.

Alexei,

You should go back and read some of the old posts of sj who often states how badly the EU needs Serbia, it is really quite amusing.

Vucic seems to be saying the EU had better give Serbia a date for ascension talks or "bad things will happen". What kind of a childish hollow threat is that! This is truly a pathetic thing to say, coming from a representative of a supposedly proud nation as Serbia. That type of grovelling just does not go over well with West Europeans Reps.from the strong EU countries.

Finally, as for your statements: "The support for Eu in Serbia is dropping rapidly. Its for the better probably." Here we agree, it is for the better, for the EU.

It is quite easy actually. Serbia does not have good neighborly relations with Kosovo.

Yea, sure, the datum is important, but when I see these old Milosevic era radicals and socialists representing Serbia, I get nauseous. Wouldn't it be so ironic, that the people that were instrumental in Serbia's downfall, would be the ones that had a hand in its salvation? God, am I sick of these tired, old, self-serving players in Serbian politics. The unfortunate part is, we have few options. Even the so-called "good guys" in the DS, turned out to be pocket stuffing scoundrels. Serbia, you gotta love it, not!

It will be difficult to explain to those who do not want to see the efforts that governments invest in getting the date and inexhaustible ideas of Europe in setting new conditions. However, I hope we get the date because it would be the crown of all done.

There is nothing to explain to your citizens, they already know that for your county, EU have only new demands, nothing what your country do for EU is not enough, there will always be something new.I think that you should think how to improve economy in your country, better laws, fight against corruption, what you already do and about EU think latter when you become strong country.
