The Albanian kid got over excited, started jumping around, making a noise, taking cake from all the other kid's plates, spitting at the Serbian kid. Albania and Kosovo should have in mind they are circled by Montenegro, Serbia, Greece and Macedonia neither of them keen on Albanian nationalism and concept of Great Albania. Only escape route for them will be over Adriatic sea.

From the outside it seems quite clear that the US is referring to Serbia proper (and Macedonia). They would refer to Kosovo as 'Kosovo' not as Serbia if this was the territory they had in mind. It is equally clear that whilst they (reluctantly) supported the UDI they will not countenance a Greater Albania. Unfortunately they may have been a bit naive to believe that either Albania or Kosovo would settle for what they have now. The Albanian Government is like a man who is winning at roulette and doesn't know when to cash in his chips. Bearing in mind the colours of their flag it's no surprise that they are betting on red and black at the same time.

Well, under the Obama administration, it seem that there are some people in the USA who are able to learn from mistakes from the past and who see who is currently busy with creating new conflicts in the Balkans.

The only thing the average American knows about Albanians is from watching the movie Taken so it is disingenous for any Albanian to say that Americans love Albanians.On the other hand Serbian-Americans who vastly outnumber Albanians in the US were very cheap with their money and did not buy off politicians aka lobbying/political contributions such as the Clintons/Biden who were and have always been up for sale to the highest bidder.

there is a chill in the air. It used to be that Albanian nationalist could do as they pleased, and America would support them. Now Albanian nationalists are being asked to do as they are told. Say good bye to the old weak serbian boss, try your nonsense with your new western bosses. They will look after and preserve independent Kosovo like an Indian reservation, where if you want your money you aren't aloud to leave.

It would be better for Albanians to start using a little contraception, because quality is better than quantity. Would it not be better to educate your people and move into the 21st century, or even the 20th, than to create more poverty stricken mouths to feed, dependent on foreign handouts?

Pete K., do you honestly believe that the US cares about either, either? They have global interests, and the Balkans are one of them. They (US) chose to back the Albanians there, because they were obedient subjects, whereas the Serbs are not so much. The US wanted a large military base in the Balkans, amongst other things, and quickly built it after their "humanitarian intervention". Take your head out of your own butt, and smell the fresh air, there is truth there, and not where you have keeping your own head. Just look at how Berisha got slapped down by the US for sticking his long pointy nose in the affairs of other countries. A good slap down is headed for Pristina soon also, unless they get back in line with US interests and stop making trouble.

This just shows how important is the Albanian factor in the Blakans and how sensitive US is about this fact.

In the last 20 years Albanian leadership has been the most obedient and backbonless leaders that any nation can immagine to have. They have been the greatest YES man's that US has ever encountered.

The peace and stability in the Balkans is owed almost exclusively to the Albanians leaders who are satisfied with the minimum of the minimum and never think or work for the good of Albania but only for their political success and to please US/EU.

You have 20,000 Serbs in north Kosova having state while 600,000 Albanians in FYROM being minority.

And if someone in the US state dept thinks that this is sustainable and that this situation can be kept as it is by shouting at Berisha they are miserably mistaken. Berisha, Thaci & co are corupt so shouting at them can work for a while but not forever. We Albanains will replace them soon and elect leadership that will DEMAND 100% reciprocity in the relation with our neighbours. 100%.

And of course this will inevitably bring huge friktions with the US/EU who never cared about Albanins or of anyone else for that matter. All they care is to support the dominant force to shout the weaker one and obtain any kind even fake stability.

But Albanians cannot be the only one to pay the price of the peace. We will not pay this invoice anymore.

Berisha is just charlatan and you can bully him but he is history.

Ataman, I will speak for Pogradec. It was known as Enkelana until it was conquered by the Bulgarian empire. People there still know it as Enkelana, ecen though it is reffered daily as Pogradec. In the village of Selce, previously called Pelion there are hundreds of Illyrian grave sites carved into the rocks. This is a village of the city of Pogradec.

Given that more than half of Montenegro do not belong to Montenegrins... things will be solved very peaceful, loving, I mean, literally LOVING Russian way... earlier or later. -- The Enkelei are known to have lived in the region of lake Ohrid. Open a book. Hence why Pogradec was known as Enkelana. It is also known that the Illyrians stretched in all those areas you mentioned. As I said as an Albanian it doesnt matter at all to me if I am related to Illyrians. It matters a lot to you since the whole fabric of your society is based on the denial of the Albanian factor. Thats why Albania is in the wrong place for you. It was addressed to Berisha not to use nationalism for his election purposes. It specifically mentions the Presevo valley and the KLA memorial removal. It says that the scope of Serbia-Kosovo dialogue is to stop Serbia's interference in Kosovo's internal affairs and advises Berisha to do the same and not interfere in Serbia's internal affairs. No, EU (and US, partially) cares about not having new troubles there. Just as they stopped Milosevic and his extremist ideas of 'greater Serbia', a common country for all Serbs in the Balkans, they will stop extremist Albanians who share a similar dream of a 'greater Albania', may it be Berisha in Albania (well, I think he's only pretending, for election purposes) or the socalled 'self-determination movement' in Kosovo which openly advocates a 'greater Albania', not to mention the leftovers terrorist of the KLA and KLwhatever in Preshevo.

Nationalistic rhetoric for electoral purpose , it's wrong and must be condemned. US had to condemn it, and rightfully so. Having sad that, sadly ,there is a widely spread racial bias towards Albanians in Balkans as evident by many commentator in this forum. Unfortunately this creates a fertile soil for the populist and/or nationalist leaders. It also contributes to a further push toward national union. Some here consider it Greater Albania, some Natural Albania.

Population was already about 50-50 serb-albanian pre WWII according to Serbian statistics.

erm, i have never believed we were! you must have me confused with someone else. here is what i know, the US is one of Kosova's most ardent supporters, do not care if we're last on their Christmas card list.

US is losing influence, sorry to say that. The new major players are called Germany and Turkey.

This just shows how important is the Albanian factor in the Blakans and how sensitive US is about this fact.

In the last 20 years Albanian leadership has been the most obedient and backbonless leaders that any nation can immagine to have. They have been the greatest YES man's that US has ever encountered.

The peace and stability in the Balkans is owed almost exclusively to the Albanians leaders who are satisfied with the minimum of the minimum and never think or work for the good of Albania but only for their political success and to please US/EU.

You have 20,000 Serbs in north Kosova having state while 600,000 Albanians in FYROM being minority.

And if someone in the US state dept thinks that this is sustainable and that this situation can be kept as it is by shouting at Berisha they are miserably mistaken. Berisha, Thaci & co are corupt so shouting at them can work for a while but not forever. We Albanains will replace them soon and elect leadership that will DEMAND 100% reciprocity in the relation with our neighbours. 100%.

And of course this will inevitably bring huge friktions with the US/EU who never cared about Albanins or of anyone else for that matter. All they care is to support the dominant force to shout the weaker one and obtain any kind even fake stability.

But Albanians cannot be the only one to pay the price of the peace. We will not pay this invoice anymore.

From the outside it seems quite clear that the US is referring to Serbia proper (and Macedonia). They would refer to Kosovo as 'Kosovo' not as Serbia if this was the territory they had in mind. It is equally clear that whilst they (reluctantly) supported the UDI they will not countenance a Greater Albania. Unfortunately they may have been a bit naive to believe that either Albania or Kosovo would settle for what they have now. The Albanian Government is like a man who is winning at roulette and doesn't know when to cash in his chips. Bearing in mind the colours of their flag it's no surprise that they are betting on red and black at the same time.

The european Political elite has not yet understood, the Balkan's "explosive" historic background,neither has learned from the historic past . The recent 15 years, the rising of nationalism and populism in Balkans is a reality .After the 100th anniversary ,of the end of balkans wars ,The borders in Balkans seems to be not permanently in the minds of some balkanian leaders, Even if , have no military power, their propaganda network has invented "fraternal populations" who are "under occupation" in the neighboring countries,or even, comical historical claims that have no logical link with ,the so far known ancient or medieval or modern history of european civilizations !!these mechanisms , have started publishing or borrowing from the past eras , expansionistic and irredentist maps, showing to the public their national "territorial inspirations" for the so called "great country" or "united ethnicity" Those maps are not only existing in the media and the web, but also in their schools , and this is terrible ! I think it is time for the europeans to take measures, instead of talks and friendly caresses before its to late for peace !
