Decision on date “doesn’t depend only on Germany”

If Serbia did not get a date for the start of the EU accession talks in June, it would be because of certain EU member states, Deputy PM Suzana Grubješić says.

What a gross oversimplification. Europe organizes itself in to blocks on certain issues. In the recent budget talks, it was essentially North (-France) v. South. For Kosovo, it is not much different, usually one powerful country acting as instgator and spokesman for certain actions, as it was the UK for cuts in the EU budget.

No one said that it was simply Germany but that without Germany behaving like this, it would be much less likely that the constant stream of unofficial threats against Serbia would have been taken seriously. As for the proclamations of support for Serbia by countries such as Italy and France, it may be simple politiking. What only counts is who votes for what in the European Council (as has been said before by otherr commenters).

Wow, this is truly amazing! Ever heard about veto power? Any of the 27 (soon 28) countries of the EU can stop the process in its tracks and you know it very well madam!

Such gaffes from so high up can only be self defeating. Good luck with your diplomatic endeavors.
