Priority for Serbian people is to get closer to EU but recognition of Kosovo is gains Serbian Constitution. Nobody has right to brake it.

Serbia should look to Switzerland and Norway and stay out like them. The EU is no panacea. Slovenia's GDP has declined 8% in the last few years. Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and other countries in the EU are having economical problems these days.

Wishful thinking at its finest.

Florian Bieber is a nobody, an anti-Serbian Luxemburgian German moron. I met him a few years ago at a conference about the Milosevic trial and even had the "privilege" of critiquing his contribution to the conference and a subsequent book chapter he authored. Just another talking head whose opinion doesn't count for anything. The north was appended onto KiM in the 1950s in another one of Broz's ethnic restructuring projects intended to break up the Serbian people. It is a part of Serbia, as is the rest of KiM, despite what the Ghegs think.

I swear this is the 100th time I read an article on the news similar to this. Are the news running out so that they have to repeat the same ones or what? In my opinion It was unwise of Kosovo to split from Serbia in the first place because Kosovo would have done a lot better economically and financially had it stayed a part of Serbia. Serbia is about to start negotiations soon which means an EU entry in roughly 7-8 years. Kosovo could have been part of that, however with this situation they won't be part of the EU for another decade and a half at the least. They're even behind Bosnia in the game - they're not even potential candidates and they haven't signed an SAA. Serbia will eventually join whilst Kosovo is still there isolated fighting its own internal problems.

Let me break this to you: Serbia cannot join the block without recognizing the reality on the ground. The European Union, chiefly Germany, expect a few neighbor-related prerequisites such as:

in order of importance
- dismantling parallel structures (funding, double pay, etc)
- recognizing Kosovo's border, officials, documents, and taxes
- encouraging serbs to participate in Kosovo's institutions

In short, EU will secure assurance that Belgrade will treat Pristina exactly like it treats any other state.

Bieber has a too higher opinion of himself. Serbia can certainly join the EU without recognising Kosovo (or did he mean the mythical 'Kosova') as Pristina is loosing credibility day by day by the behavior of it's citizens. Systematic attacks against non-Albanians continue to undermine the official propaganda of the fluffy myth of a multicultural 'kosova'.

The great irony in this chapter in Balkan history is that Pristina and the tactics of it's various shock troops are loosing more support and credibility for independence than anything the successive supine governments in Belgrade could ever do. It won't be long now before there is the first state reversal of recognition of 'Kosova'. It wad always for Prstina to loose.

So, when the dust settles, who will Camp Bondsteel belong to? It arose quickly in 1999? Surely, it's not there to protect Albanians from themselves? Serbs have been cleansed from Kosovo. Anyone know why that huge US military base was built in Kosovo, in 1999? Did the law of the jungle apply at that time, and now? Will Bondsteel be turned over to USA-NATO's steadfast allies in the region? Answers?

An ambassador was sent Kosovo from Belgrade a few days ago! That's already done. Dejan Pavacevic is ambassador. The platform says Kosovo includes he north. This person is totally ignorant of a lot if things. The customs beig collected on the border too. Serbia has recognized Kosovo independence because Germany demand it to get into the eu. Countries that oppose independence of Kosovo are irrelevant to Serbia getting in the eu.

However, he added that Serbia should at least formally admit that the north belonged to Kosovo as well.Yes, this would be acceptable to Serbia when Pristina formally admit that Kosovo belong to Serbia as well.
(Teslavio, 10 February 2013 14:38)

Oh, that's all is needed... I have no problem to say that Kosovo is Serbia, if that makes you happy :)

"However, he added that Serbia should at least formally admit that the north belonged to Kosovo as well."

No doubt that the north belongs to Kosovo - the discussion is about if Kosovo is part of Serbia.
