No, Ida.

There may have also been loans, but this is aid I'm talking about.

I believe it though that much of it was spent on outside "experts".

During the old Yugoslavia the Serbs siphoned all profits from Zagreb & Ljubljana but now they have to borrow.

You would know? Is this the revisionist history doing the rounds in your village? Next you will tell us that Tito is a Serb. Does the SFRY's 'Kosovo tax' count as 'siphoned' in your definition.

Where is Japanese "aid" to "Kosova"? Let's not forget that Japan recognized "Kosova".

The "aid" Serbia gets from the EU is mostly LOANS which Serbian taxpayers have to pay back with interest. Also, the loans are to projects set by the EU, which often involves government meddling and does NOTHING for the Serbian economy, and in fact often harms it.

There was an EU worker who posted on here last year and said:

I work with the EU in Serbia. 90% of the money "donated" pays for so-called experts (like me) who don't know a thing about Serbia, from the EU, working for EU consultancy companies to work on various projects. Serbian companies are not allowed to apply for almost any of these projects. The money also has a number of conditions tied to it as well for Serbia to make reforms specifically geared to the way dictated by Brussels. Most of that money does not stay in Serbia. But it's not just in Serbia, it's the same in Bosnia, Montenegro and FRY Macedonia.

Danilo,

Don't forget about the free uranium depleted bombs that Serbia received in 1999.

You also forgot to mention the destruction of Serbia's infrastructure, economy and property reduction was also a free gift from the West.

Maybe your services are free as well, ehh Danilo!

How can a fellow like you Danilo live in a society of free loaders?

It's nice how Japan, who has such little to do with Serbia, give it so much aid.

I wonder if our big Serbs in Australia are even aware how much charity this country receives. Half a billion from Japan only.

Ethiopia was a popular destination for foreign aid in the 80s and 90s. It topped a total of 1.6 billion USD.

I wonder if Serbia has received as much as Ethiopia.

Probably getting close.

------
hmmm. I was curious, so I checked the Serbian government website for European integration. Looks like Serbia (according to them) got over 6 billion in direct aid from the EU.

How much have they gotten from Russia again? Just curious.
