Seriously....Who wants to see that filth on billboards and road signs in Croatia when no one can read it. Croatia is considered western Europe and if the Serbs think they can introduce their Eastern crap in Croatia they have another thing coming. Why can't you people just F*** Off back to Serbia were you belong..nobody wants you in Croatia.
(Political Genuis, 4 February 2013 00:04)

You call yourself a western nation yet you let your racism and ignorance cloud your judgement. Your comment reminds me of what a racist white American in the 50s and 60s would say:

"Why don't you people go back to Africa where you belong...nobody wants you in America!"

Why is that Serbia, a country that most definitely has it's problems with the Albanian people (and vice versa) supports Albanian culture and facilities in places where they are a rather large population?

If you want to pretend to be a "western nation" then it's time for you to shape up, more so than even Serbia has or even needs to.

You want to dance with the EU? Know the moves, bud.

Pls say it ain't so!!!

Here’s a blunt answer to your Cyrillic thing; it’s ancient, no one can understand it and it reminds us of evil times. If you’re so adamant about using it, keep it within your borders, as they are getting smaller and smaller every day.

Well since it's designed for Serbs and not Croats who use both alphabets without any problems, you needn't worry about reading it. Since you're probably trolling from Chicago, Sidney, Vancouver, or Toronto you get the added bonus of not being there to see it.

PS - You spelled "genius" wrong in your username, genius.

What about И Ш Ћ Ч Б Ц Љ Д Ф Г ??
(trizo, 3 February 2013 04:30)

An article in today's Jutarnji list writes of possible sightings of Ч and Ф in the vicinity of Knin, apparently under suspicion of Cyrillifying the recently erected monument to King Zvonimir. Ш and Ћ, writes 24sata, are teaching young Croatian children how to "Пиши Као Што говориш" in Karlovac/Карловац. Slobodna Dalmacija is writing that И is trying to bail Џ out of jail in Split, but it's taking a lot longer than he planned because of the difficulty in Croatia refusing to convert kuna directly from dinars before euros, but Б knows someone in Vatrovci who frequently travels to Bajakovo and has has kune on his hands. Љ, who was planning on talking to locals in Osijek are making a quick detour there to get the money.

As far as we know, Г gave an interview to Novi list without any problem and is now taking the rest of the weekend off in Istria. Ц and Д are on their way to meet up and hang out.

Greetings from Вуковар

Why don't you Croats go to Zagreb and protest your government who is destroying you nation instead of worrying about what a few thousand Serbs are doing in some village. I'm part of the Diaspora who lives in the US and we all get along just great here. Croats, Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. Learn from us and move on!

sarah

Serbians can read both alphabets so what is the big deal here? Be proud of that fact and get your government to create more jobs - and take care of it's citizens.

sarah

LtColFriedman

Serbians do not know about the Danube Swabians because that part of their history was erased. They were replaced by Bosnians and people from Montenegro under Tito's rule. Now when it is mentioned, the serbian people say they dislike Germans anyway due to the EU. There will always be a reason for people to dislike each other. They should follow their Greek brothers and protest for their own rights to make their country better instead of constantly taking about their hatred of the neighbors.

sarah

Serbia needs to move on - quit bickering about signs, lost territory, old hatreds, acknowledge what their part was in any of it's wars, and be concerned about it's people, the poor, the uneducated, the gypsies, it's minorities, it needs to become an adult. It has wonderful cuisine, lovely country side, wonderful old traditions, friendly people. All this other stuff is crap.

Danilo

pre 11 godina

I'm really not sure what you're saying, Peggy.

Latinic script is (slightly) dominant in Serbia these days, except for government institutions, where Cyrillic is the rule.

And, yes, it is 100% an issue of aesthetics. and, no, I don't think anyone in Serbia has a problem reading Cyrillic, regardless of their ethnicity.

Sarah

pre 11 godina

Serbia is not the most ethnic country in Europe. At one time they were - in the Hapsberg Empire. But Serbia got Tito and ran everyone of a different nationality out. There were French, Italian, German, Hungarian, and many more ethnic groups that lived in Banat. Everyone got along and that time was the most prosperous time that was shared by everyone. Now Vojvodina is poor, it is not procuding anything, and instead of Serbia trying to build a economy like that one, the government is wasting it's time on lost territories.

They should follow their Greek brothers and protest for their own rights to make their country better instead of constantly taking about their hatred of the neighbors.

whats croatias phobia against serbs and other minorities anyway do they still have that old nazi ways in their mind, like those 2 ustasha nazi guys that got arretsted yesterday, man they looked goofy lol atleast the chetniks look like bikers and not gays like the ustashas looked like.anyway the census does show that vukovar has 35% serbs and 22 other cities with this kind of population so let it go because the muslims will join the minority groups and say they want more and will fight so if you against 1 you will have a problem with all minorities and as history shows dalmacia and istria region was italian lands and not croatian and the krajina region is old serbian lands and not croatian as was north croatia was austro-hungarian lands so in other words croatia was zagreb and thats it,so you do this and croatia will be divided up by the EU which includes italy, hungary, germany and ausrtia and slovenia also since they have problems with them also and the last would be a none EU memeber serbia because of the krajina region and russia, greece, romania and china and othe big nations would back up serbia on the krajina region ,so the best thing for croatia should accept this small thing the the serbs want and let it go.....

novi sad is becoming Cyrillic no matter how many other nationalities live there :D
(jj, 2 February 2013 16:36) first off croats should let it go because they will make all minorites angry, croatia is a small nation with big minorities and the serbs there are 250-300,000 but allot boycotted the census it showed only 200,000 but there is closer to 300,000 and then you have muslims and others, best thing for croatia is to move on.....now for you thats talking about novi sad it has a 85% serb populace in 2011 .and the minorities are old and dying because in the new census in vojvodina the minority mediate age is now over 50.the serbs are now 70% of the province and by the next census the prediction is that serbs wil be over 80% of vojvodina and really the only minority left will be hungarians and they will be only apprx. 150,000 from the 250,000 today and the rest of the minorities will be 10,000 altogether because their maediatge ages are 55 in the latest census.in other words serbs will be 1,300,000 and hungarians 150,000 and the rest like croats, slovaks and others will combine with 10,000 the only young groups will be gypsys and muslims they will increase for gypsys 150,000 and muslims 10,000 and their mediate age will be 29 and serbs will be 37 and the hungarian will go up to 52 and the other minorities will go to 60 in other words the croats, slovaks slovenes will be 0 in the very near future.you albanians should worry about north epirus and not serbia.

If I was a Croat I wouldn't mind. In fact I would think it's kinda cool to learn what would be my own language (Serbo-Croatian) in a different script. It could come in handy.
