What kind of so called "peace-negotiations" can be conducted with a "hostage held by gun-point" in a heavily fortified Ottoman dungeon? The hands of any such "hostage" would be litterarly tied, as he is held by force in a desperate situation, fighting for his very own life. He would be in no position to take care of the interests of a whole "nation"(even if he wanted to), while at the same time remaining in such a desperate situation personally. He would be in NO position to conduct free and objective negotiations.
Any results of such a fake "Mickey Mouse" puppet-show would drop dead like a lame duck to the ground, and like the stillborn bastard it is. It would be comletely without legetimity and the only morally possible thing to to, is to completely ignore any "rotten deals" coming out of such a forced process.
Honest talks between can only be held in an atmosphere of mutual respect between equally free peoples. This is impossible in a situation where one side hold the other side hostage.
So, if the Ottomans want a solution to their problems, they must first release their hostages. Only then can true and genuine talks be held.

The situation cannot be compared with Kosovo under Milosevic. Today autonomous Kurdish northern Iraq is not only a relatively peaceful region compared to the rest of the country. It's also a region with enormous economic growth. Turkey's profiting more than any other country, even more than the USA. Northern Iraq is full of Turkish companies. They're investing like crazy.

Peace is therefore currently in the best interest of both Kurds and Turks. Both are profiting.

quite a number of peace treaties were signed in the past and we know the results. There can never be peace in this conflict unless a Kurdish state is created, the land on which the Kurdish live has only in relatively recent history been part of a Turkish state and the feeling of being different to the Turks is always going to be there. As for the Turks they need to face up to the fact that the birth of their nation was built on the blood of Greeks,Kurds and Armenians.

I agree with you , since t sound familiar what happened n Kosova. Miloshevic signed so many agreements with Rugova, and never honored single one.

The conflict is the main internal political problem faced by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan after ten years in power.

Kurds are one of the more marginalized nationalities in existence. The way they are treated in Turkey was and is a national disgrace. They are routinely arrested, beaten, tortured and persecuted. This is happening in a so-called 'modern' Turkey.

Mullah Erdogan is deluding himself in thinking that he could have a peace treaty with the Kurds without satisfying their foundamental right of statehood-quite a number of peace treaties were signed in the past and we know the results.
