Hear hear Dacic. You know it makes sense for Serbia to join the EU but do your government colleagues see it the same way. Does this mean that you will concede autonomy to Kosovo? Is your boss, Nikolic, on par with your opinions? Will these courageous words force new elections? I think you are a 'lone ranger' but also one of few who dare to move on for the sake of the nation.

A to bad their is no more Serboslavia for Belgrade to milk anymore and put incompetent Serbs in bureaucracy. Way past their numbers ever warranted something like 69% of the federal commy bureaucracy made of Serbs when Serbs only made 34% of the Yugoslavia population. Now Serbia is paying for them meagre pensions of Serb bureaucrats even that is to much. I see sinking Serbia still has and lives off very big redundant bureaucracy. They are now training to enter the EU incompetent bureaucracy as experts. The Serb bureaucratic growth industry dream lives on at being useless. Your money for nothing in Serbs/Serbia entering the useless idiotic waste that is EU broke bureaucratic heaven.

Maybe he wanted it, but in reality Albanian population exploded in the southern regions. No wonder that these are the poorest places in Europe.

Ari imagine world trade is a fruit tree that we feed ourselves from. In my scenario the fruit All the low lying fruit on the branches closest to us, the branches that are heavy laden with fruit are trade with EU neighbors. The farther branches, the ones that we need a ladder for, the ones that are prohibitive to get to are trade with Countries such as Russia and China. The fruit on the ground, some of which is okay, some of which might carry illness is trade with former Yugoslav entities. We can not ignore the fruit at the top of the tree, nor the fruit on the bottom, we can not afford to place rotten fruit (KLA fruit, Racist/facist fruit, islamist fruit) with the good fruit either.

Some people like Dacic only want to pick the fruit closest and easist. This is no good. Some people fed up with europe, don't want any of that fruit, and this is no good either.

What I want to tell you is that we need to trade with the EU and in order to do that we have to tolerate some of their nonsense. I do not advocate the current appeasement either, because it will spoil Serbia's interests, economy and future. We should be concentrating on gathering all the healthy fruit.

Serbia's current tax structure is not the problem. It should go higher if the money is spent better. What needs to happen is less spending on hiring relatives and more independence of the courts so that corruption can be eliminated regardless of the government.

“If the EU does not suit us, we can easily get out,” he added.

That would be a first. Has anyone ever seen a country leave the EU? I'm afraid that once you join the EU there is no way out, neither easy nor hard. Everyday that goes by i'm more and more convinced that this guy has no strategy at all and his statements reval his utter ignorance on all matters.

Dear, all those suggested cuts are peanuts compared to the billions that Serbia has spent or continues to spend on Kosovo, starting with Vuk's frequent flier miles :) I think Ivica is finally coming down to Earth, but some others continue to fly high on heroism...

Dhaciq you are not an economist or a financial expert and you are not even trying to be because you haven't even begun to explain your "better life" theory you just spew the same EU-phoric propaganda without any real substance much like Tadic did.

You want to give citizens a better life? Why wait a decade for EU membership when you can do that today. Taxes are ridiculously high in Serbia both for people and investors. But the worst part is, most of the public sector money doesn't go into education and health institutions but "governance" and "administrative" costs.....aka give your best friends and family redundant bureaucratic jobs that simply eat away at taxes/national budget.

Remove the Vojvodina parliament, cut down the size of MP's from 250 to 100, cut down the number of ministers from 20 to 10, cut down the number of gov't agencies from 187 to about 10 & remove Serbia's ambassadors from places Croatia, Albania, Myanmar, NATO & EU (you already have ambassadors in every EU country)....

THEN with all the money you save from not paying for these positions you give direct tax breaks to workers as well as investors and there you have it a better life almost instantly. Its almost sick how a lot of Serbia's problems can be solved if it didn't have complete morons running the country.
