"As you are s brilliant do tell us all how is it beneficial for Serbia to join the EU. Please use toady’s examples of the successful countries that have prospered after joining.
What’s the bet we don’t get a sensible response?"
(sj, 25 January 2013 11:26)

Poland? Czech Republic? Slovakia? Slovenia?

Of course you cannot know where they would be today without the EU. Maybe it's not fair to compare those countries to Serbia, Croatia, Albania or Ukraine.

But soon Croatia will be in the EU, so you will have an example to watch if they are making more progress regarding development and wealth of their citizens compared to Serbia or Bosnia.

Serbia won't be able to join EU for about 10 years. It will have enough time to think. Talks can be postponed bu EU if Serbia decides to play games.

@Mark- obey or starve? u kidding me? There are options out there outside of the EU. Why do you think Serbia is as close to China today as ever? Because they are setting up their alternatives. Secondly..talk about obey or starve..that's what the albos have to do always. All people of Kosovo are far worse off today more than ever. It's a mafia run state, from top to bottom. should foreign policy start to shift towards other areas down the road..and forget about kosovo, you, thaci, and ceku will be walking back to albania. This will not last..the will of the Serbian people is much stronger than you think. We stood up to the nazis and turks..def we will entertain the albos again at any time, you can count on that!. What you should do, is go get an education, before posting empty comments here.

It is a shame that countries like Russia and China are the ones upholding international law. West should unrecognize Kosovo. Kosovo is a province not a state. That can change but only if both sides agree. Like South Sudan!

BTW: Yes, Russia is wrong on Ossetia and Abkhazia!

"If it is delaied it is due to the mafia-owned state of Russia". Hahaha, Ben, you are calling Russia a mafia-owned state, and the subject matter is Kosovo. There is probably no bigger mafia-owned state than Kosovo, as all of the major Pristina politicians are also mafiosi. Why is that Albanians never want to admit, or even talk about the fact that their leaders are criminals? The Web is littered with info about the mafia clan leaders in Pristina's government, yet the Albanian supporters here turn a blind eye to that. You cannot be taken seriously on anything you say then, sorry.

"Wilhelm added that Germany wanted the Serbian authorities to find persons responsible for an attack on the German Embassy in 2008"

Serbia will find them when you find the ones responsible for the 2004 pogrom in Kosovo, the ones responsible for organ harvesting, those responsible for blowing up a bus with serbs and the terrorist responsible for the lates rampage in Kosovo. You find those and Serbia will do its duty.

A small country like Serbia that survives on debts, does not have choices but tantrums. Obey or starve.
(Mark, 24 January 2013 19:36)

Actually, this whole Kosovo in the UN talk was started by Dacic and it looks like this Ambassador is only commenting on it. So i would say this came up with Serbia's initiative and is not an order to obey.

This makes it funny that Serbian parliament's Committee on Kosovo and Metohija President Milovan Drecun (what a long title) is blaming the Ambassador about "provocations". Dacic started this, why is the Ambassador being blamed? My guess is that it has become dangerous in Serbia to criticize Dacic. Only the "brave" in DSS do it :).

Heinz Wilhelm should be declared persona non grata and through out of serbia from the back of a manure truck at the border with Croatia.
(Zirb, 24 January 2013 17:26)

The truth hurts. Serbia in EU only when Kosovo in UN.Not only Serbia would be forced to accept Kosovo as a UN member but it will be also forced to convince Russia and China not to block Kosovo's membership. A small country like Serbia that survives on debts, does not have choices but tantrums. Obey or starve.

'Kaiser' Wilhelm's Nanny

pre 11 godina

As his former nanny, I am apologizing for little Willie's recent outbursts. This is something he has been struggling since he was small and despite the best attempts to cure him. Unfortunately such behavior is actively encouraged by Berlin's government which itself is too afraid to mention any of these issues publicly. They fear doing so would reawaken memories of German behaving the same way as they have in the past, hence the need for an amenable personality to provide the fig leaf of distance between what they say in private, and what they say in public.

I think a person coming from the worst country in the world in terms of terror against humanity should try to understand the history behind a conflict not try to solve it by suprressing another people.
The Germans have done this so many times before.
It is not 1939 Heinz Wilhelm or is it maybe Franz Wilhelm ... you are Germans today not nazis or are you still?

Questioner

pre 11 godina

"According to him, the issue was first raised by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić. Wilhelm stressed that a UN seat for Kosovo could be possible in the end of the negotiating process."

Yes, and a split of Kosovo, i.e. keeping the north within Serbia and letting the south become a state could be possible in the end of the negotiating process as well.

Isn't it good to see that even the German ambassador admits that negotations are needed, i.e. Kosovo's status is not settled?

ben

pre 11 godina

Majority of the UN countries have now recognized Kosova. Thus Kosova's full membership in UN is only logical step. If it is delaied it is due to the mafia-owned state of Russia.
