President: Serbia can prevent UN recognition of Kosovo

"BRATISLAVA -- President Tomislav Nikolić says Serbia can prevent the recognition of Kosovo in the UN Security Council."

So far, I didn't know that Serbia is a member of the UNSC, let alone a member with veto power :)

Maybe not, but Serbia still have powerful friends with veto power in UNSC that are not led by low impulses and not instructed by Serbian opposition parties with the only aim, just to criticize president, even against their own interest.

I can guarantee you that especially my country, German, but also otheres like Holland, France, England, Austria, and a few more will veto Serbia, if it doesn't come to terms with an independant Kosovo. He is going to fix the Kosovo issue so that Serbia does not control Pristina nor that Pristina does not control the Serb neighborhoods of Kosovo. then he talks as if Kosovo is still going to be a part of Serbia. He also says that Serbia can block Kosovo in the UN and not will block it.
When the EU says it will not require Serbia to recognize Kosovo as a state, is true but they insist that SErbia extablish neighborly relations and that means Serbia cannot claim it either.

Considering that Russia is a part of UN security council, she alone can stop Kosovo from gaining a seat. The only way to change her mind, is for Serbia to ask her to vote "yes". We elected Nikolic because we didnt want a pro-european president like Tadic was and this government is far less pro-european than the past was. SNS is biggest party in Serbia and they are not pro-european. Even if the government would be pro-european it would still take a referendum to enter eu, the government election has nothing to do with that thats a totally different issue.

We elected Nikolic because we didnt want a pro-european president like Tadic was and this government is far less pro-european than the past was. How long did the KLA last last time vs just 10,000 MUP forces?... If i recall, they had total control of Kosovo within 72 hrs and even accidentally crossed into Albania? Good times! :)

REALLY ...so seems like you know it all..so you being there and done all?? its very easy and simple going hunting the ducks with the rifle but if the duck have a rifle too you will think twice going after her...so why ? go and try your 72 hours now ...and please update us..
