I see the "overwhelming" in China and India.
(MikeC, 23 January 2013 22:24)

Cool. You do know their UN votes are equal to Malta and UK right? As a matter of fact since Serbia wants to join the EU Malta's and UK's votes are much more important than India's and China's. They directly affect wether you will be able to have your salaries paid through the billions that the EU gives to Serbia.

How about the overwhelming majority of the world that have not recognised Kosovo independence....how important is that for shortsighted albanians.

And it is because Serbia has so much to offer that those 22 countries have maintained that recognition for almost 5 years now! I know you think that one day they are going to say "oh we might lose Serbia, lets all rescind our recognition" unfortunately there are no magic pills to cure those mental problems.

all his statements are negative ! he is a very negative and pessimistic person, he is a very unsuccessful politician, does he not know that politicians don't talk like normal people and say anything that comes to their heads ?!! he never thinks before saying his words and never chooses the words carefully ! he harmed the relations with bosnia and croatia due to his irresposible statements in the press, they should stop interviewing him!!
(Milan Mrkic, 23 January 2013 13:38)

President Nikolic is calm person and doesn't talk inappropriately. He deeply and sincerely sympathizes with the Serbs in Kosovo and is not afraid to say that. From another side, he is very aware that Serbia can get another condition fro EU. He sees everything you see Mr. Mrkic but he is not instructed by anyone to speak against his own people.

hey 'common sense'

Yeah, Serbs gave Europe Srebrenica. Great offer.
(Common Sense, 23 January 2013 15:07)

those who offered Srebrenica or its myth to naive europeans were Oric' s jihadist cutthroats ( who killed all Serbs of all sexes and age whome they caught) by gravely violatated int law (SC Res) and turned a planned safe haven into perfectly legally military objective - by the way - no collateral damage happened as all civilans were safely evacuated by Serbs, only combatants died -and how many actually through execution is not - icty just assumed for political reasons that all those who are being re-buried in Potocari are 'victims' of 'genocide'

Now can anyone, anyone at all, tell me how that 22 states can vote yes to admit Serbia with its province Kosovo, when their respective states recognize and have established diplomatic relations with Kosovo?A very simple answer. For those 22 states the recognition of Kosovo means nothing. In the end they will all do what is in their best interest. I cannot see Albanians having to offer Europe more than Serbs can and will in the long run.

"Of course the answer should be in the papers, will the date to begin negotiations list Serbia with or without Kosovo. Everything to date has excluded Kosovo, but tomorrow we will read where another person from the EU has placed "new conditions" on Serbia."
(pss, 23 January 2013 09:43)

Even Nicolic knows that, when the time has come, Serbia will enter the EU with the territory of Kosovo excluded. Comparable to Cyprus, with the non-recognized north staying outside, the non-recognized Kosovo will stay outside. Or maybe some smart EU official will invent a new way to let the non-state of Kosovo (the unique case) join the EU, as an entity, region or whatever.

Serbia will have to change a lot of laws and bring them in line with EU.

Last weekend current goverment of Serbia showed to the world how they deal with sensitive issues regarding minorities.

Looking from this perspective Kosovo has more chance to start this talks than Serbia.

Serbia is following closely policies of Turkey regarding Cyprus.

Serbia has the choice between a.) EU and no Kosovo b.) No EU and no Kosovo. And if Nikolic doubts that a country cannot be stopped in the EU integration process then he should ask Skopje and Ankara which wait years without any (EU-)progress (though Turkey's economic performance is extraordinary but unfortunately for Belgrade not applicable to Serbia). Serbia will just be number 3. The EU is not eager to push that issue and Serbia stays outside the fence, with all the economic calamities (high inflation, high unemployment, high debts, low invests), all homemade problems. With the increasing conflict in the South, a new front line opened up, where Serbia's EU ambition will be eroded, as well.

It has already chosen the eu. Dacic didn't talk about a Kosovo UN seat for nothing.
(Brian, 23 January 2013 10:21)

It wont happen. Not to say that Dhaciq wouldn't want it if he had it his way but it is something that they can truly not afford to do. For me they can have these 'negotiations' all they want. You become a state when the KLA is in the UN and until then you are dependent on Serbia's political leaders being treasonous and corrupt enough to meet with you.

But this can change at any time. If the DSS was in the gov't or Dveri there would be no meetings and then what?

It is quite obvious that Serbia along with its president Nikolic is putting in all possible efforts in order to solve the crisis in Kosovo and Metohia. I believe that it is up to the Albanians to fullfill their end of the bargain as well as to the EU to protect the Serbs.

Has anybody noticed that Tirana (Albania) is supporting the Kosovo Albanians and trying to provoke incidents in Presevo and Bujanovac (which are, by the way, part of Serbia) in order to establish the great Albania which would include parts of many adjacent countries (Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia...)? It has been in the news for the last couple of days
