The American public is shocked by yet another case of brutal murders - this time a 15-year-old boy killed his parents, two sisters and a brother.

Another shocking multiple shooting in the US. Why do parents leave their guns lying around instead of locking them correctly when there are children in the house?

An entire family wiped from existence. No doubt the gun loving lobby will say that the boy would have stabbed the whole family to death with a knife anyway...

Why do they have weapons in the house at all, especially when they have children?

Why do people feel they need guns unless they belong to a club in which case they can safetly store them there. Farmers are the only people I think that need guns. A suburban Joe has no need for one, especially semi automatics.

You're right bgannon, the gun lobby does say that knives kill too but that boy would not be able to kill so many or maybe not anyone with a knife. You have to get very close to someone to knife them.
Also, if you want to shoot someone you will get a gun but so many spur of the moment shooting would not occur and a child cannot get a gun.

It's time they got rid of all those guns.

“Of course I despise my Fatherland but I hate it when a foreigner is joining me ! ” Those were the words by A.Pushkin. So I think foreigners should be very careful when it comes to talk about home problems of other peoples. I personally can see the Chinese Wall between the shootings inside the USA and the things they do outside the country. In one case I feel real compassion while like the rest of the world I hate their main exporting items like empty USD and bloodshed. If not the vital support for Pristina I am sure the Albanians would “love” the Yanks nothing less than the Serbs. But the shooting is quite different. Whatever we say the Americans are a great people and hopefully they will find how to cope with the problem. Annually they print more of the empty bucks than the cost of the 40 mln barrels people obtain. So the problem is outside the economics.

"It is not guns which are the problem here, it is US society which has the problem. Canada has more guns per head of population than the US, yet Canadians don't feel the need to shoot one another.

Do I think there needs to be greater gun control in the US? Yes I do because American people cannot be trusted with guns."

I agree with this statement and it should include the oppressive, genocidal, american military that operates on foreign soil. Ban them along with the handguns. The hypocritical american government cries and wrings its hands over the death of 15 american schoolchildren and barely blinks an eyelid at the news of massacres of hundreds of foreign schoolchildren when one of their bombs goes "off course". You said it - american people can no longer be trusted with guns - why don't you extend that statement to all of the peoples of the nato nations? What is the purpose of nato today anyway? The Soviet Union is dead. Why isn't nato dead?

The US government is reacting to these mass killings by attempting to re-write gun laws. In my opinion, the problem lies with American society, and the people that pull the triggers on these guns. Mental health issues should be addressed, and the reasons people get to the point of mass murders. Maybe assault rifle bans, and more background checks are in order, but the real problem is in America's heads, not their index fingers.

There is no reason for American public to be shocked. It is just another massacre and not much different from previous ones. It is like traffic accidents with fatalities. Nobody gets shocked hearing about them in the news. Just another ordinary day in the land of free.
