You only have to look at Slovenia, which has spent all the moneys they recieved from the breakup of Yugoslavia. Also, the EU has been reducing its “contribution” to Slovenia’s budget since 2008 and now you have regular demonstrations with the people actually demanding an explanation from their politicians where was this better they were promised if they left Yugoslavia.
Croatia is not far behind Slovenia since even Milanovic cannot fix Croatia’s economy. The difference between Serbia and the rest of the Balkans is that it has enormous potential while the rest have peaked or never will peak. I find it so amusing to have Tourism flung at me as giving Croatia their wealth. Not it’s was not tourism but the EU filling Zagreb’s coffers up until 2008. Now with Brussels fighting for survival no more aid; its sink or swim.
I used to listen to Croats talk about how they were propping up Serbia in the old Yugoslavia. Croatia in 2013 is finished.
I clearly recall HTV showing Jadranka Kosor at a factory where one employee asked why hasn’t her government enticed outside interests to invest in Croatia. She answered “Both the existing and previous government have done all in their power to do exactly just that, but Croatia is a very small market and no one is interested”.

No it’s not 60% mate. Read what you like on B92, but I do know a thing or two about debt.

Here is a little advice for you. Japan is over 200%, but the difference here is that the Japanese Government owes this money to Japanese Banks who hold ordinary Japanese deposits. Japan does not owe China or france or Australia or Fiji etc, they owe their own people. The US, UK owe money to foreign banks – that is the difference.

Do you have any idea why debt is bought? Purchasers of debt squeeze every last drop out of a country – there is no compassion here, it all business.

Do you fro one moment think that the US or UK could withstand debt of 130% of GDP – get real.

Where do you do for a living? You think the Russians would allow westerns to control their resources? Now if Croatia nice Serbia might give them gas if not then the tap is turned off and freeze.

The EU propped Croatia up like Slovenia but that s all over now and Milanovic is not in Belgrade because of health reasons. They are trying to cooperate to survive. How many other Croatian simpletons think that tourism is enough for Croatia?

I don't think Lenard and Stefan are the same person. Reading their last two posts it is clear that Lenard struggles with English. Stefan's English is better but his arguments are as confused as Lenard's and he suffers from the same Serb-obsession that characterises all of Lenard's posts.

It seems to me that Slovenes and Macedonians are more mature and confident than Croats, Bosnian Moslems and Albanians. They get on with their lives and deal with difficulties as they arise without mentioning Serbia or its long dead President, Slobodan Milosevic.

The Croats, once a much respected Yugoslav people, are now poor East Europeans who will soon join the EU as Third Class members, taking their place behind Romanians and Bulgarians. This humiliation is difficult for Lenard and Stefan to cope with, but rather than shake their fists at the English, Americans and Germans who have brought Croatia to its knees, Lenard and Stefan spit hate at Serbia.

"At the end of November, public debt totalled 60,5 percent of the GDP, the Public Debt Administration said."

Dear Sj, this is an extract from a B92 article a few days ago...but I guess Serbia managed to get itsindebtedness from more than 60% down to 47% within a week...either you're a big fool or B92 does not have access to your well-known malaysian secret sources...LOL

And how dare you compare broken begging Serbia to the US, UK or Japan ??? These countries can even touch 200% indebtedness ratio (which Japan has already done) but nonetheless every financial entity will rush to buy their debt...whereas nobody may, in their right mind, lend anything to serbia, except interested Russia...

And I don't think that you need your famous sources to have a look at SOUTH STREAM's shareholders...western companies own exactly 50% !! not 49%...

And Michael (great serbian name...),

as to poverty, select 5 foreigners, send them to serbia and Croatia and let them tell us where they saw or felt more poverty, in EU's Croatia or in EU's ten years (or more)away retarded Serbia...Can't wait to have their follow up...

I thought I’d flush out a Croat or many be this is one of many faces of Lenny. I’ve always suspected he has many personalities.
Talk about indebtedness. The UK 82% of GDP, the US, officially 102% of GDP, France 86%, Hungary 80%, Poland 55%. Serbia’s debt is 47% of GDP and Serbia still has the capacity to borrow unlike Slovenia and Croatia which no one will lend unless the EU gives its guarantee.
It’s not so much a matter of owning the infrastructure it simply getting cheap gas. Let’s not confuse what is going on, Russia pulls the here not the west and whoever told you that one is dreaming. Serbia will be tied to Russia and as long as it follows Moscow it will get very cheap energy. It will also be the hub, providing supplies to the rest of the Balkans including Croatia and when Belgrade says jump Zagreb will answer how high.
It’s funny we see Milanovic rushing to Belgrade and now that Ustasha loving Josipovic talking about thawing out relations – no this is not 1945 where Croats had their crimes hidden by that bastard Tito.
Oh have any new industries open up in Croatia lately? No it more like closure after closure. Croatian unemployment is 400 000 plus between 80000 and 100 000 turn upto for work but do not get paid. 2013 is your year – look at Slovenia LOL.

Stefan, you are a Serb-hating Zombie just like Lenard.

I don't know which bankrupt former-Yugoslav Republic you are from, but your current poverty and your future destitution is not the fault of Serbia.

You wanted to destroy Yugoslavia and go it alone; well, you have your wish. Why can't you just forget Serbia and get on with your life as a debt slave?

Stefan

Croats now work in foreign-owned businesses and give half their income to pay interest on its debt. Over the next couple of years Croatia’s debt will increase another 10-times and you and your children and your grandchildren will become debt slaves.

And as to production belonging to foreigners, let me remind you that the sole assets still serbian remain the ones nobody in a right mind would ever want to buy since they're financially so broke and technologically dating back to middle-age (srbjia telekom, railways...)...

Sj,

It is quite possible that Serbia will go broke, but the same is also true for your Croatia.

Your problem, and the problem most Croats have, is that you are too focused on your hatred of Serbs and not at all focused on the real threat to your national survival.

Since its secession from Yugoslavia, Croatia's national debt has grown 20-times and all its valuable state assets have been sold to foreigners.

There is no logical reason for Russia to help their brothers to the extent of holding it´s western imposed puppet regime and NGO-cult afloat. Once the NATO brainwashing grip on Serbians is once and for all over and the regime is disposed of to that shameful corner of history where similar treasonous fates dwell, Serbia will go east and have it all. Almost for free...

“Once the pipeline is in place, Serbia will get EUR 500-600mn of revenue from transit fees,” Bačević pointed out, adding that cheaper gas for Serbia was also expected. Will have to pay Russia 2.4 billion for the gas for a accumulating debt of 1.8 billion year at high interest rates. Not even including the broke "Srpska entity" gas use and debt. That goes on the back of Serbia it will be interesting how long until Serbia goes totally bust. I think Serbia should start its own lucrative home grown alternative energy industry moonshine can power and heat up many things seriously Serbia can be a leader finally in something.
