Serbia can get along well enough without the EU, and Kosovo can get along well enough without the UN. The Serbian government sees a prize in joining the EU, and Kosovo sees a prize in joining the UN. The future will be easier for Serbia in the EU, and the future will be easier for Kosovo in the UN,... but the denial of these, respectively, will not destroy either of them.

Every square inch of inhabited land once "belonged" to somebody else - it just depends on when you arbitrarily choose to start the historical clock. Neither government - neither the Serbian government nor the Albanian government in Kosovo - has shown the maturity to resist the nationalistic, histrionic forces on their respective sides to a sufficient degree that a workable, mutually-agreed upon solution is possible. The Serbs have no way of guaranteeing that Kosovo's proposed autonomy will actually be respected, and the Kosovo Albanian government has nothing to stand on that guarantees the safety of the Serbian population there.

I am of both Serbian and Albanian descent, raised in Canada. I've traveled to Kosovo twice and Serbia/rest of Serbia many times. I like the commoners on both sides, but the corruption, duplicity, and immaturity of both their governments suggests to me that an unenviable separation may be necessary - a not-so-velvety divorce.

"Ivanović, who is mentioned as the most serious candidate for Belgrade's future liaison officer in Priština"
Get rid of this clown, or are you afraid that he applies (again) for to get a job with Thaci's Disneyland?

serbia needs EU more that kosovo needs a UN seat plus the west made it clear to serbia. Serbias economy is crumbling only EU will save it. serbia can not afford to lose that on something that is has no control in the first place. :DD

Serbia DOESN'T need the EU and would be way better off by staying outside of this crumbling club!
EU doesn't save anybody, HEAR ME? ANYBODY!!!

Interesting, as the last time I visited Kosovo, I saw nothing Serbian in there. There was Kosovo police, Kosovo customs, Kosovo border patrol, Kosovo Force. The fiscal receipts on my purchases showed "Kosovo Ministry of Trade", and so on.

To me, this looks like nothing short of an independent country. Not sure where this guy lives.

Now there's even a 'nation of Kosovo' and not only the multi-ethnic, independent dream state of Kosovo? Some people like to live in illusions.

Whaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!?!

A new "shock" every day. Yesterday it was "Kosovo in the UN", now "liaison officer in Pristina". Wonder what tomorrow will bring. Things are moving much faster than when the DS was in power. Maybe the times just matured. Or maybe Dacic has been underestimated.

No matter what Ivanovic says now, he would be appropriate in that position, I guess. He has old connections in Pristina, knows people, is known by people.

How about this scenario: In the previous meeting, Dacic asks his buddy Thaci not to let Nikolic go to Kosovo for Christmas. Or maybe says, you can do that, I won't make a big fuss out of it. In fact, did he say anything about it? We only heard some people protest, and not others. It certainly looks like there is a struggle up there in Belgrade. Completely opposite signals from Dacic and Nikolic. Nikolic comes up with platforms, Dacic undermines him with the help of his buddy Thaci to show how useless those platforms really are. Oh boy, is that a bit far fetched? Time will tell I guess.

"Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia and I don't even see any indications of any changes there any time soon," Ivanović told RTS.

Oh oli, there have already been 98 clear indications, that kosova no longer is a integral part of serbia! These indicators, have been smacked right in Serbia's face! And there more indicators coming Serbia's way... You say that? I say this! If you can wait 50 years? We can wait 100 years!

No UN for you if you don't cooperate with Serbia. We can happily do without the EU. Can you do without the UN? Well, I guess I shouldn't ask you that since you almost certainly don't live in Kosovo and can make whatever demands you want :)

The guy who might be the Serbian ambassador to the independent nation of kOsovo is saying their is no Kosovo succession? PeoPle are not dumb and they know Serbia has recognized kosovo independence and that's why there is going to be an ambassador

No eu for you if you dont recognize Kosovo SO Serbia will not succeed either. EU is not that stupid to let Serbia in the club unless it resolve it issue with its neighbor Kosovo. As you said, EU dos not want another Cyprus problem to deal with so it better without Serbia if it continues like this.
