UN General Assembly President Vuk Jeremić hosted an event on January 14 in New York, to mark the beginning of <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/society-article.php?yyyy=2013&mm=01&dd=14&nav_id=84142" class="text-link" target= "_blank">the Julian ("Serbian") New Year</a>.
It's nothing secial about this choir. To be completely honest this was kind of boring...

Rote, I agree, it's Orthodox new year (for the Orthodox who observe that calendar) and should be acknowledged. The Greeks have moved away from it except for Easter.
We here in Australia keep hearing how it's Greek Easter all the time and never any mention of the rest of the Orthodox faithful. It's annoying.

It appears ,this smells more like Yugo-Serbo-light...
Betty, giving more funds to Vuk, for doing good and promoting Serbia in a good light, would have meant less money for the pockets of the other members of the DS, who sat around and lived the good life, which they truly believed was their God-given right. ALL Serbian politicians, from ALL parties, are a disease for the Serbian State and people. They have put Serbia into such an enormous hole, that I many times wonder if Serbs and Serbia, will ever see the light of day again. Just look at the characters that are ruling the country today, the same "ex-communist/socialist bugra" that was instrumental in its downfall. My stomach turns simply at the sight of any of them.
Happy New Year Serbia ! But I object the Julian New Year to be solely Serbian ! We too celebrate it in every family. This time less formally with less champagne but with more of a soul.
