The United Nations Security Council has unanimously endorsed the French military intervention against Islamist rebels in Mali.

The French need uranium from Mali as their energy supply completly depends on nuclear power plants. Kasachstan used to be France's main supplier of uranium, but stopped deliveries some time ago.

Maso there is actually a very simple answer to your question.A man and his wife agree on some things yet still love each other even though they disagree on other things.It is no different between countries.The Islamists in Africa are hated by everybody but the ones in Egypt or Syria hated by some and loved by others.

It never ceases to amazes me how the world's superpowers seemingly pick winners and losers around the globe...or how if you suggest that, you're automatically labelled a conspiracy nut.

'These "rebels" in Mali must be quashed, but those "freedom-fighters" in Syria must be supported!'...forgive me for my ignorance, but, why? And who gets to decide what's good and what's bad?
