This is exactly what I had in mind. The good old Yugoslavia where people wouldn't say this type of nationalist rubbish. The good old Yugoslavia where we were Slav brothers above all, at least in theory.
(Fikret, 15 January 2013 07:42)

It's obvious it was only an illusion.
Clearly only the Serbs felt that way because only the Serbs tried to preserve it.

Before they remove the monument by force, Serbs must realize that they have more monuments of their own(also people) in Albanian controled lands than the the other way around. Any use of force by serbs will provoke retaliations against them.

So we take down a stone and you kill our people? Seems fair to anyone who thinks like an Albanian.

You know we are sick and tired of all your BS and threats.
One day, your "friends" will give up on you and then we'll see if you have the guts to threaten anyone.

Im amazed you albs are so ignorant. You put up a monument you know is an insult to serb and now you are making threats if Belgrade takes it down. Not only do you name streets and airports in Kosovo after warcriminals but now you want to take it one step further and spread your "message of reconciliation" to south Serbia. I'm sorry but you are just an impossible bunch of people. This pile of shit for a monument should to down. No matter the consequenses. Serbs need to stans up to terrorists.
(MikeC, 13 January 2013 22:05)

2 things here man.
1. In Kosova we name places the way we want. Nobody ever should give a fvck wether Serbia or you as a Serb approves them or not. We aren't asked about how Belgrade names airports or streets. Neither should you. Remember there was a war about crap like this. You still haven't learned and still advocate an apartheid like society for Kosova where a minority ( Serbs) rule over a majority.

2. Now, regarding this specific monument, I think it should not be there. It's created too much unnecessary noise. However if Serbs in Kosova are allowed to keep stones like this all over Kosova then Albanians in Presheva should be allowed to keep this stone. Your stones are offensive to us, yet they are still there. Really it's a bunch of stones and the idea of fighting over stones is stupid but what's good for the gander is good for the goose.

Bekim-Novi Sad

The best solution is to remove it from public place and put it on private property/garden where people can pay their respects there.

You are right there. Many people are sentimental about the old Yugo especially the Slovenes, Macedonians, Montenegrin, Bosniaks and even an ever increasing number of Croats, but not the Serbs. The Serbs were the ones who tried kept it together and now they don’t want a bar of it. Look at Slovenia, once it had a standard of living that was envied by others and now? The people are demanding that the politicians explain what happened to that promise of an even better life after leaving Yugo.
You can have Yugoslavia, but without Serbia as we no longer wish to look after others. You wanted independence than you can keep it.
Serbia can survive and prosper the others are dead in the waters. Slovenia now, Croatia next on the bankruptcy list. I have been talking about this for two or more years now; 2013 is it.

Fikret

If memorial isn't just a product of simpleminded ethnical politics it then is a planned trap for Serbs. In both cases it's wise for Serbs to have a pause and do some good and thorough thinking, as now in fact has happened. The whole episode has allowed foreign diplomats to do some window shopping into Albanian mind. Better thing Serbia could not have hoped.

The point isn't even close to a question whether memorial is legal or not. The point is that memorial presents undisciplined, conflict searching attitude. I can tell you that heavy cursing is taking place in every Western embassy in Belgrade and in Prishtina. This time the four letter words are aimed at Albanians.

Albanians rejoice from proving that they use backbone for thinking. It doesn't cost a thing to Serbia to be more clever here. Calm moves also give time for the possible Albanian opposition to monument to raise its head.

In tennis erecting this memorial would be called an unforced error.

J

One advice to the Serbs. If you're going to remove this make sure you do it at night with no pictures and no cameras present. Also make sure you clean all the rubble. Any pictures of destruction or Serbian bravado leaked to the press will result in the destruction of similar monuments erected by the Serbs that Kosova is littered with. Then we will hear you complain and peaceful Serb protesters will throw hand grenades and block roads.
I have a feeling Albanians in south Serbia do not really care as much about the stone monument than they care about the photo op and the unbalanced force of the Serbian military men. Those pictures and video footage may be a precious political arsenal for them.

One also has to wonder what other compromise is Dacic making next since he needs a pile of marble to show he is the best Serb patriot. What is hiding behind all this noise coming from the Serb politicians over some marble and concrete? Something smelly may be happening behind the scenes while Serbian public attention is focused on how opposing stone masonry makes you a good Serb.

In one of the conclusions, the ethnic Albanians stressed their right to the use of symbols expressing national identity and opposed every form of forcible removal of such symbols, including the controversial monument in Preševo.

Are you kidding me! In Kosovo they arrest people just for wearing Serbian tee-shirts or just because they look Serbian and beat them up. One day and I hope it’s very soon Serbia will unlash her wrath on you and you will be destroyed once and forever. Enough is enough!

Imagine those serbs! Honoring their own in their own country.
I guess serbs in Kosovo should be ofendend by all the status of americans in Kosovo responsible for Nato bombings and the killing of innocent civilians, all the street names and the Pristina airports named after albania war criminals.

The councilors consider an erection of a memorial to Serbian Gendarmerie members in southern Serbia a severe provocation and they condemned “threatening statements” made by Serbia's state officials regarding their own memorial.

A memorial for killed Serbian Gendarmerie members is considered a 'provocation', and their own memorial for the killed terrorists a.k.a. 'freedom fighters' is not? Interesting point of view, how stupid and blind can people be?

Did I read this correctly? A Serbian memorial, in Serbia, on Serbian soil would be provocation to Albanians, but theirs, honoring armed separatists that killed Serbs, in Serbia, on Serbian soil is not a provocation? Do these Albanians hear themselves, when they make these asinine statements? As for involving the international community, the internationals have clearly stated that the memorial issue is an internal Serbia State matter. Going and crying to the NATO/EU will not help you this time. Be men, and behave like men.

More important year for albo is 2042. Albo leader from Sicily George Maniakes after 1000 yr earn one monument in the Ohrid.

The best solution is to remove it from public place and put it on private property/garden where people can pay their respects there.

"You can have Yugoslavia, but without Serbia as we no longer wish to look after others. You wanted independence than you can keep it.
Serbia can survive and prosper the others are dead in the waters."

This is exactly what I had in mind. The good old Yugoslavia where people wouldn't say this type of nationalist rubbish. The good old Yugoslavia where we were Slav brothers above all, at least in theory.

It's obvious it was only an illusion.
Clearly only the Serbs felt that way because only the Serbs tried to preserve it.
