The Nikad Granica activists need to understand the Constitution of Serbia does not apply in Serbia because if it did, Dacic would have been arrested a long time ago for treason. I wonder what the authorities are so scared for though? Why should such a rally be banned? It is not based off hate or racism but simply support the country they live in and its sovereignty.

I agree, that's why it was so important to condemn the banning of the gay minority parade in Belgrade in order to prevent Serbia going down the path of that famous statement:

"First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."

Looks like you and your fellow albanian j don't share the same opinion about democracy in Kosovo. For obvious reasons I trust j:s opinion over your distorted one. You just need to look at Albania to se how democratic you are!

Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, as with libel, slander, obscenity, sedition (including, for example inciting ethnic hatred), copyright violation, revelation of information that is classified or otherwise.

In the states if you're organization / political entity has a bad track record with these things, you can surely expect this right to be waved against you.

Serbia's old totalitarian ways are hard to give up. This is a major problem for Serbia's governments, to reform to the standards of modern, democratic societies. They have always simply suppressed what they disagree with or fear. Simply saying we are a democratic society is not enough, Mr. Dacic and Co., democracy must also be put into action. These are current guys in Gov. and starting to behave even worse than the previous gov. Heaven help Serbia.

I will bite to this but thats simply cuz im an Albanian troll. ;) We have our own problems man. I wont go into details here but the communist school of thought has produced the same type of leaders everywhere and some of them are in power in other countries as well as in Serbia. So we're busy criticizing the same things you're criticizing, in our own media. Unfortunatelly they are not in English. While we share the feeling for free expression, we're working on our own problems first. Comments on B92 then are most times for things which directly affect us. This time, this article doesnt. Prior to 1998 it would have and we woud have joined to defend freedom of free speech and gathering. Shame none of you joined us when we were doing it back then, when we were beaten and sent to prison for it. Yet you remained silent most times. A lot of our protests were because we were not allowed to say what we wanted in our newspapers. Nationalism got inthe way of bigger things.

Depends where you're talking about. Maybe not Serbia or Iran, but "insulting" someone typically is covered by freedom of expression. Threatening is another matter, however.

I have never advocated banning rallies, neither the Pride Parade in summer, nor this one now. Furthermore, I think Serbian police would be able to handle possible violence and riots by some extremists.

This is nothing new for the ruling coalition. I remember this past year at a Nikolic (in person) rally in Novi Sad, where someone put up a sign on a building that read, Izdao si Voju, i izdao si zemlju svoju", basically saying that Nikolic is a traitor. Well, Nikolic's goons had that sign down in minutes, with what right? Where si the freedom of expression? All the politicians blab about what a democracy Serbia is, yet work over time to suppress any opposition. This totalitarian view is a major problem with Serbia, for the old communist/socialists have simply changed their words, but not their actions. They are the real occupiers of Serbia, not the NATO or the EU.

Well I'll answer my own question. Because the current political elite are the strongest supporters of the occupation and have done more to advance the occupation than the KLA or NATO combined. There aren't enough organs the KLA could extract or enough bombs NATO could drop that could advance the occupation the way the Belgrade authorities have.

So Albanians, you are looking at the biggest proponents of the occupation of Kosovo i Metohija. And they reside in Belgrade.
