There are some logistics in the way. Number one Serbia can move closer to Russia, but the fact remains it is in the middle of Europe, whether it joins or not it will always be in that location. I do not see anything wrong with loans from Russia or China, while they do have a lot of ties and tend to help the Russian and China economies more than Serbia, the loans are necessary to build Serbian infrastructure.
My comments were aimed at your attitude toward what you say is your people. They do not live in the same situation as you, I am assuming but in most probability live in a western state, enjoy western freedoms, live off economic opportunities from the west and either were educated or your children are educated by western schools. (I include Australia in that because eventhough it is located in the east it is tied and highly aligned with the west). The people of Serbia, like the people of Kosovo want a better life for themselves and their children. They want what you have. Disagree with the direction they want to take if you want, but do not try to shame them for that goal.
The fact whether you like it or not is Kosovo was severed from Serbia by the UN in 1999, there is no chance the majority Albanian population will ever agree to rejoin Serbia, without some agreement that would pass all UNSC Security Council members that separation will never be undone and the longer the more independent Kosovo becomes.

This is a good idea! Considering that most if not all the ExYu republics are struggling since the beak up from high unemployment, reliance on borrowing, social and welfare issues, war crimes and criminal activities, uncompetitive companies and etc. We (ExYu republics) cannot dwell on the past greviences this only leads to more intolerance of one another. All I see on these posts is that everyone's blaming each other, yet blind of the fact that we are still quarreling after so many years. In the end the ones who will benefit will be the major powers who will use puppets for their own agenda. To move forward we need to look how to resolve the past.

First of all, what did we get from Russia. We started off with $200M loan, then another $800M, now we're looking at a $1B loan for the budget deficit. We have Southern Stream, and more to come. What did we receive from the EU/US? We got bombarded for 78 days, and threats of ripping apart the entire country. Where is the EU heading? Into bankruptcy. Where is Russia heading? It is a part of BRIC and is and will be an economic power. Joining a bankrupt EU will not put bread on the table. Abandoning a part of your territory is not going to too much for the Serbs in Kosovo nor in Serbia. I have a lot of family in Serbia, I do not need a lecture on poverty. What do you believe the bankrupt EU will give the Serbs after they've taken away Kosovo? No my friend pss look to the east, that's where the salvation lies. The countries in the EU do not want it anymore, so what will Serbia gain from joining? So please, do not give me this crap about starvation in Serbia, because the whole of Europe is on an economic decline. Giving away Kosovo will not result in anything positive, and finally, how many other countries had to relinguish a portion of their territory for EU membership?

Since you are on the English site it is apparent you are not a resident of Serbia, curious as to where you live and the lifestyle you are afforded. You speak of being ashamed of Serbs because they want a better life? Because as you have deserted them for a better life and then spit in their face because they want that too. Do you live in Russia? If not why do you want them to turn there? My guess is that you enjoy life in the west as most of the others here and would not consider moving back to Serbia or Russia, and yet you want to sentence the people in Serbia to a dismal life so you can be proud!
It is the Serbian people who should be ashamed of YOU.

The spineless Nikolic showed his true coward colours in the very begining when he changed his stance from an official visit to Russia to an unofficial one. ...(ivan, 10 January 2013 16:37)

@Ivan,
Russia never will help u.Nikolic went there and they offered a loan, with the condition to recognise SO and Abkasia. If Nikolic would have done that( recognision of SO and ABk.) it would have been a suicide for Serbia.
Entering in Euroasia Union is not smart move.Look how avarage rusian, khazaks etc standards of living and compare to the poorest countries in EU such as Bulgaria,Romania or Greece.EU si much better man and crises like this they have had in the past, just this time are 27-8 members as 13-15 were before.
Nikolic and Dacic are trying to squize as much as possible from Kosovo as they can.
But USA,NATO is in Kosovo, and Russia doesn't have a single solder in Balkans ,let alone in Kosovo.
This is the reality Ivan.
The smartes move Serbia can do is to save what can be saved from Kosovo, such as getting full economic authonomy of North special status of Church and nothing else.
This is the reality on the ground. You can drag Kosovo's membership in UN for serveral more years, thats the only thing you can do.But Kosovo has been recognised by almot 100 countries by now and after 2-3 years 30 more caountries will recognise it.
If Putin loved Serbis as he claims,he would have stayed in Kosovo, but he order his solders to pack the bags and leave!

It looks like the Serbian cowards have initiated their first steps to totally relinguishing even Northern Kosovo. The cowards led by the multi-faced Dacic and a spineless Nikolic will eventually, if not already, loosen their final grip on Kosovo for a date to negotiate a membership in a bankrupt, defunct EU. They know all of this, yet they refuse to fight for it even with Russian support. Many countries are considering withdrawing from the EU, yet the Serbian cowards are still preaching it. The spineless Nikolic showed his true coward colours in the very begining when he changed his stance from an official visit to Russia to an unofficial one. I congratulate you Albanians. You played the game right, and to your advantage. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll get the rest of Serbia. I am ashamed to even be Serbian. The people are my brothers and sisters, but we never had a politician. We sold ourselves out. Even from the days of Tito, we agreed to let Serbia be split in three, as if such a small country with the population of Tokyo needed such grand autonomy.

50 years of Serb lead YU was bad enough. Now the Serbs want another just so they once again collect for Beograd corporate fat cats. Maybe Dacic should seek a Serb lead mini YU with countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and the Ukraine. Would Dacic be pushing the issue if a Greater Serbia was established - I don't think so.

Commenting on Serbia’s relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina, he reiterated that Serbia respected Bosnia-Herzegovina as a state. He added that Serbia had special ties with the Republic of Srpska (RS) in accordance with the Dayton Accords but that it wanted to have the same relations with the Muslim-Croat Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

So you want Serbia to have the same special ties with the Muslim-Croat Federation as it does with Republika Srpska? Are you insane? Imagine if the Albanian president said he wanted the same relations with the Serbian Government as he has with the KLA? What a stupid thing to say.

A Balkan council? That would work with Romania, Greece & Cyprus-but our former partners from Yugoslavia, really? You want to go up that tree again? Of course you do because your a Yugoslav before you are a Serb.

Titoism folks, it's bad for your mental health.
