EU's position on Kosovo visit "basis for negotiations"

It was obvious that again Nikolic would just indulges into self-pity. He has no strategy at all. If he would be honest, he would support to pull out from EU candidacy. Instead, he babbles of "EU failed the test". What test, Tome? YOU failed the test, since you don't have the stomach to stop EU candidacy. EVERYBODY is saying loud and clearly that Serbia will NOT join the EU as long as it does not recognize reality in Kosovo. It is no secret. So why on Earth you still want to get into there when you want to hold on Kosovo? Say directly what you really want to achieve because it will never ever happen that Serbia will join EU with Kosovo. Your platform will not change that even a bit, in the contrary, it will just put Serbia's agonizing state into concrete.

The president said: "The EU must think hard when they are convincing Serbia that they are status-neutral and wish to help us all live better, whether they today showed their real face,"

Such language is not typical of a president and its not diplomatic. Through such a statement he either shows ignorance as to the meaning of neutrality or anti- European malevolence. Though 22/27 EU nations recognize the sovereignty of the Pristina government, the EU does not have a common stance to Kosovo's independence. Kosovo is no longer under supervised independence so its decisions are not superseded by UNMIK, EULEX or any other entity working outside Kosovo's constitutional framework. The EU office only acts as a liaison between Belgrade and Pristina and cannot tell any side what to do. This is because the EU is not unanimous as to what to do. So by trashing the EU because it delivered back bad news from the Pristina decision makers is regrettable and shows the true predispositions of the President of Serbia.

No civilized person can possibly be so ungodly. A politician 'par excellence' on a religious mission? A religious missionary who claims that there are "no people [in Kosovo]... who believe in God"? EULEX is status neutral. It is an international civilian policing and judicial mission created to work alongside and Kosovo's Police and help establish Kosovo's Judicial System all within the framework of UNSCR 1244. EULEX is not there to control and run Kosovo's Police and Judiciary, it is there to assist and work along side Kosovo's Police and Judiciary.

UNMIK transferred the vast majority of it's powers to the Kosovo Assembly in summer 2008, all in line with UNSCR 1244. It is not for EULEX to say who can and cannot enter Kosovo, that power and authority is not with EULEX. That power and authority is with the Kosovo Assembly.

Nikolic can ask EULEX if he may enter Kosovo, but EULEX does not hold that power nor was EULEX ever intended to hold such powers; EULEX itself has to ask the Kosovo Assembly for such things to be permitted as that is who holds the responsibility and authority.

This has nothing to do with status as far as EUELEX is concerned.

Nikolic is just angry that he has been denied entry to Kosovo, so he has pointed the finger at EULEX to try and wash off some of the embarrassment. He is just blaming some else for his own problems.

Title for Kosovo and Metohija is in Belgrade , paper is not in EU, NATO, Hague, Tirana or Pristina. Poor albo never bring this title to Tirana.

Somehow its very smart of him to show the Serbs how 'status neutral' EULEX is, how much they care about 'freedom of movement. Combining it with religion and the most important Christian holiday was another good idea to show people in Serbia (and in the whole world) what Kosovo Albanians are like and what can be expected from their socalled 'democratically elected' government.

Maybe this was Nicolic's real goal, and not the visit in Gracanica itself?

Juan, Juan, Juan, give it up dude, many have traveled your road before and maybe this is actually a repeat trip for you. Many have taken on assumed roles to try to "prove" international support for the plight of the poor misunderstood Serbs.
The problem is there are always tell-tell signs that blow your cover. 1. If you were an unbiased international then you would notice the venom is very heavy on both sides. Internationals do not have a reason to hate one side or the other. You might defend the Serb but not spew your own brand of venom toward the Albanians. People in Brazil that do not have Serbian roots have no reason to hate the Albanians and considering that Brazil does not participate in the International missions they have not been exposed.
And last non serbs do not say that Kosovo will be part of Serbia again, that is strictly a Serbian threat, and anyone from any place other than Serbia would never think the Kosovo/Serbia issue even comes close to being responsible for a world war.

Good analysis. And it was especially stupid in the shade of the crimes and 1000 fold murders committed by Serbs in Bosnia. Without that, who knows if the intervention would have taken place?

Yes, civilians were killed and yes some of those were murders. This is a very bad side to war but to say that 1000s were murdered and only murders were committed by Serbs is very biased.
