“It would not look European, as Europe does not destroy monuments,” Musliu said.

WOW what a hypocrisy!

What about the hundreds of ancient Orthodox Churches and monasteries that were razed to the ground by the Albanians in Kosovo?!

In this case Serbs living in Kosovo should have every right to build a monument dedicated to their fallen soldiers and civilians in the middle of Prishtina as well!

I cannot believe the audacity these people have! That's radicalism coming from the Albanians and abuse of their status as a tiny minority living inside another country.

Goes to show you most Albanians are double standard.

I sure hope Serbs run that monument down, as there is no need to remind anyone of a ugly past and if these local Albanians don't like it then go back your country, Albania.

If those people where killed and people want to remember them, than it is no idea to say, OK we killed them but we don't want their names on a stone, it never happened.
===================================

Fine, remember them but remember them somewhere away from the very people thos "heroes" have killed.
How about you remember them in Albania?
Maybe the Nazis should've erected a monument in Poland for their heroes too.

Also since you're such a patriot how come you chose your own self interest to go live in Australia, speak the language of your enemy, instead of staying in Serbia?

Looks like someone choose to put its own self interest at first, get fed and make a living off of those who are tearing Serbia appart. Yet you still think you have this moral high ground over others. Ironic.

========================
You have no idea about my personal circumstances so maybe you should zip it.
How come so many Albanians have jumped the border to go and live in Serbia, more precisely Kosovo, and then decide to snatch it away?
At least I am not trying to claim Australia as Serbia. That means I respect the land I live in. I don't agree with Australia's position on this issue but I do respect the country and my fellow citizens. This is something more than your lot is capable of.

Like in ww2 it is god to remember and learn future generations what happened so it dose not happen again.

If you keep denying history it will always repeat it self. Learn from history and remember to do better choices in the future.

All experiences are a part of living, be they good or bad. The threat of a government to a part of his people,in base of their ethnicity, just because they do honor to their martyrs, shows in what hopeless condition lived and live Albanians under Serbian rule for 100 years. Comparison of these martyrs with osama bin laden and the terrorists is a heavy insult towards Albanians, is a pathological hatred towards them, is a dreadful respect to them, is the second murder of those who have died and those who are alive. They, dear readers fought for their civil rights. After a while it was reached a deal between them and the Serbian state, which at least on paper to have provided some civil rights within the state of Serbia. This has made their disarmament and as I know has become even amnesty for all those. However Serbia is still hostage of a fierce nationalism and is threatening peace in the Balkan. In every civilized country, after a reconciliation agreement,a plaque would be more than a normal issue.I have a question? How would have accept by serbs if the Bosnians, Kosovars and Croats considered hostile their plaque of the fallen Serbs for their freedom 'by making terrible crimes'. Or that right for honor only Albanians can not enjoy. Or for Serbian sick nationalism only submissive Albanians or dead ones are good. And for ataman a special advice goes: Besides you taking regular exercise, you must also ensure that you are getting enough rest. Peace and happy Orthodox Christmas.

Serbia, again in provocative mode, hm? Touch that memorial Serbia, and the repercussions will be your fault

How can an answer be the serbs fault when you were the ones putting up the monument from start?Be realistic a monument celebrating terrorists that killed members of the police force in the country they live in can never be accepted in any country. No monument, no need to answer and yet you have the guts to say that the serbs provoke, it wasnt the serbs that put up the monument and threatened the prime minister now was it? You are always looking for an excuse to cause trouble and always always provoke. The monument will be smashed and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, just watch.

Dennis thank you for finally agreeing. Lets all treat each other the same. That means guaranteed seats in the parliament. Much more seats than the percentage of population. Veto power on laws. Rocky,

By writing "Touch that memorial Serbia, and the repercussions will be your fault" you justified Serbian response to the killing of Serbian policemen in Kosovo in 1990's. Also you admit that the fault was of Kosovo Albanians.

Ataman,

Yes, there's a semantic difference between soldiers and terrorists. How big that difference is depends on the actual conflict, on what happens in that conflict and on who's talking. There's no clear cut definition for "terrorist". One way to see this is that terrorists use violence against non combatants, but so is often case with soldiers, too.

And about Vietnam war memorial: shouldn't we rather ask is there a memorial for fallen US soldiers in Vietnam than for VietCong fighters in the USA?

Danilo, if I illegally built a memorial to Osama Bin Laden in New York City by the new twin towers and memorial, trust me that would be illegal and I would be arrested. Not only that, I would probably fear for my life. Do you find my comments about the west amusing? Believe me in what I just typed above. That is not to put the US in any negative light on that, as I would completely expect to be arrested for illegally building monuments on government property. I'm as western as any westerner because I grew up here from the age of 1. There is no American, ZERO, that would put up with anything of that matter like the Albanians have done not only in Southern Serbia but in Kosovo. Americans wouldn't even allow a mosque to be built 9 blocks from ground zero in NYC. So keep being amused, I'm far more amused at your stupidity and ignorance on these boards, and your 'understanding' of anything western.

And where is the other moron/Albanian with the fake name of Ian...Ian UK to defend his terrorists?

AcaVeliki asked "what country in the world would allow a memorial honoring its enemy, one that was out to destroy them, on its own land? Maybe I am wrong, can anyone name a country that has allowed this?"

Finns have allowed memorials honoring Red Army soldiers that attacked Finland in 1939 and perished. There's number of such memorials in Finland. Here I name two of them:

Memorial for Red Army's Russian soldiers, by Russian sculptor Oleg Komov, erected in 1994 and Memorial for Red Army's Ukranian soldiers, by Ukranian sculptor Vitaliy Rozhik, erected by Ukranians in 2009. Both of these memorials are in Suomussalmi, where the first fights of the Winter War (1939) took place as the 163th division of the Red Army attacked Finland in order two cut country in two in its narrowest place, then occupy and conquer the whole country. They failed.
(Olli, 6 January 2013 23:38)

Aha and - surprise, surprise: a monument to German soldiers, fallen during the Great Patriotic War, near St. Petersburg, Russia:

http://www.sptimes.ru/index.php?action_id=2&story_id=12467

Do notice, however, the fallen SOLDIERS are honored, not fallen TERRORISTS. A "minor" difference?

I can't imagine a monument to VietCong in the States, even displaying the portrait of Ho Chi Minh became a major issue. Maybe in 100 years from now - and clearly, in Viet Nam Americans had their hands full of dirt.

WOW what a hypocrisy!

What about the hundreds of ancient Orthodox Churches and monasteries that were razed to the ground by the Albanians in Kosovo?!

In this case Serbs living in Kosovo should have every right to build a monument dedicated to their fallen soldiers and civilians in the middle of Prishtina as well!

I cannot believe the audacity these people have! That's radicalism coming from the Albanians and abuse of their status as a tiny minority living inside another country.

And where is the other moron/Albanian with the fake name of Ian...Ian UK to defend his terrorists?

And then treat them like the albos treat Serbs in Kosovo.
(Dennis, 7 January 2013 21:13)

Dennis thank you for finally agreeing. Lets all treat each other the same. That means guaranteed seats in the parliament. Much more seats than the percentage of population. Veto power on laws. Guaranteed minister positions in the government. Guaranteed vice PM position. Albanian police that dont take orders from Belgrade. Municipalities that have no connection with Belgrade and get funding from Albania, EU, Kosova. Voting organized by Kosova institutions. Albanian mosques and churches guarded by NATO. An EULEX mission in Serbia monitoring Serbia's every move. No Serb army, it should be disbanded. Should I go on? Im not sure equallity in Presheva is really what you had in mind but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

Honestly, Albanians, how is a government removing an illgally built structure that is in memorium to genocide and ethnic cleansing its own people 'provocation'? Are you really so selfish, anti social and incapable of reason?

And then to think there are people who claim it's descrimination and biggotry when you're wary of Albanians... This world...

If those people where killed and people want to remember them, than it is no idea to say, OK we killed them but we don't want their names on a stone, it never happened.

Like in ww2 it is god to remember and learn future generations what happened so it dose not happen again.

If you keep denying history it will always repeat it self. Learn from history and remember to do better choices in the future.

Fine, remember them but remember them somewhere away from the very people thos "heroes" have killed.
How about you remember them in Albania?
Maybe the Nazis should've erected a monument in Poland for their heroes too.

I sure hope Serbs run that monument down, as there is no need to remind anyone of a ugly past and if these local Albanians don't like it then go back your country, Albania.

can you imagine a statue honoring Osama Bin Laden in Texas?
(Ari Gold, 6 January 2013 16:44)

if Texas decides so, yes
(icj1, 6 January 2013 22:18)

And they will never since he is a terrorist.

Did you ever ask yourself WHY NATO guards serb churches and monesterys?

know exactly what need to be done....and I believe that the Albanians living in Presevo, Bujanovc and Medvegja would be smart enough to react to any Serbian provocation proportionately...
(EA, 7 January 2013 16:32)

So I guess u dont consider putting a monument of terrorists that killed serb civilians and police in SERBIA a provocation?Albanian logic=We can do whatever we want but when someone reacts than its a provocation nevermind that we started it all.

" what country in the world would allow a memorial honoring its enemy, one that was out to destroy them, on its own land? Maybe I am wrong, can anyone name a country that has allowed this?"

- United Kingdom. In Belfast there's a rather large monument to the 2nd Battalion of the Irish Republican Army.
