Practising Albanian orthodox here.

The holy patriarch is out of his mind as are most of our patriarchs all over the world.

The continuous nationalization of our church is our main problem.
We keep getting screwed by these clueless patriarchs.

I am sorry - but I cannot help looking at that picture and marvelling that people can dress like that and take themselves so seriously. The idea that any God exists is so unlikely that to me it is at the level of a joke. Just think about it a while - the word "faith" implicitly implies a lack of actual knowledge. Whole cultures run their politics and their prejudices on the basis of a rough guess about the nature and origin of the universe. I think our knowledge and our common sense should have moved beyond giving so much credence to religions and those who are mentally locked into those ancient ignorances.
(Bob, 4 January 2013 23:56)

Well said.Very well said. Faith itself assumes a total lack of reasoning. It assumes blind belief rather than intelligent, scientific reasoning. If we were to apply blind belief and total lack of reasoninng in any other part of life it wouldnt take long to make it to the looney bin. Yet religions get a pass, are protected and funded? Why?

From India to north Africa and Scandinavia you can find place names with RAS and SAR. Both names are Serbian ethnic names, that clearly show how large the Serb people once have been!
(mick, 5 January 2013 12:19)

Of course... Also the first of the Homo Sapiens Species was indeed Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Homo Genus was Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Homini Tribe was Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Hominidae Family was Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Primates Order was a Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Mammalia Class was Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Tetrapoda Superclass was a Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Chordata Phylum was a Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Animalia Kingdom was a Serb. And prior to that, the first of the Eukaryte Domain was a Serb maybe as early as 2.700.000.000 years ago. Great scientific discovery mick - scientists have been researching for centuries the ethnicity of the first form of life on Earth and we finally found it.

I am sorry padre but this is not a peaceful message. This is an emotional plea to Serbs; and an extremely hatefull message towards Albanians.

To all the peace loving people of Kosovo and Serbia: Merry Christmas, hug and kiss your loved ones. Be thankfull to god for giving us health, loving families and good friends. Kosovo is just as Albanian as it is Serbian. Serbs and Albanians are people of different faith and different languages, however that should never stand as an obstable to peace and reconciliation. We the current generation owe it to the future generations to sit down and peacefully settle our differences so that our beatifull children can grow up in a beautiful and peaceful place. Our children should have choice to live either in Kosovo or Serbia if they so choose without fear. If Germans, French and English people can do it then so can we.

@willy BS!!!
Ottoman census 1455: 98% Serbs!

So if Serbs came in the 7 C like you say who lived there before them?

I tell you this when the Romans conquered Europe do you think that the conquered people would live there to be slaves?
No they Crossed the Danaube to the north

Ok you say that the kosovo was not a part of the Kingdom of rashka?
Sure but it was part of Byzantine/Romania
and was also part of Bulgaria ( Bulgaria at that time was the same as Serbia, same language same people same religion!)
Even today between western Bulgarian, south Serbian and western Macedonian is no difference.
Byzantine them: Sirmimum = In greek language there is no letter B they use M so you get Sirmium= Sirbium (ium= ia in serbian ---> Serbia!

The same you will get with Sarmatians --> Sarmati--> Sarbati

Serbs are longer in the balkans then the germans in Germany willy!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbian_March
The Sorbian march: Whole present day eastern Germany was not German!
Serbs (sorbs) lived there plus other Slavs!
And the rest of Germany was Celtic before but as we know today non Celt people remain so they were assimilated, but genetics show that many Germans are of Celtic background.

Absolute inacurrate!

Serbs are not 100% Slavs but a 50-50 mix of Illyrians and Slavs, genetic studies show that very clearly!
Especially we Montenegrin Serbs can be considered to be the purest Illyrian descendents in the Balkans, there are almost no blonde Montenegrin Serbs, almost all of us are dark and black haired!
Albanians were a tribe from the Caucasus which were settled on foreign land by Ottomans to secure their Islamic rule in the Middle Ages!
Serbs were always a majority
(in 1871 about 75%,A study done in 1871 by Austrian colonel Peter Kukulj)in Kosovo until the war of 1878 when defeated Albanians and Ottomans who were driven out of Central and South Serbia commited an horrible ethnic cleansing campaign against Serbs which led to over 200.000 of them being ethnically cleansed from Kosovo!

In 1878 Albanians for the first time in history became the majority there,as a result of ethnic cleansing, which continued in 1941,and 1945-1988 when Milosevic reacted against this Albanian genocidial policy!
In 1999 it continued, always with uncompromising help from the West!

History, for the Serbs, started in the 7th century, when they settled in the Balkans. Their power base was outside Kosovo, which they fully conquered in the early 13th, so the claim that Kosovo was the "cradle" of the Serbs is untrue.
What is true is that they ruled Kosovo for about 250 years, until the final Ottoman takeover in the mid-15th century. Churches and monasteries remain from that period, but there is no more continuity between the medieval Serbian state and today's Serbia than there is between the Byzantine Empire and Greece.
Kosovo remained Ottoman territory until it was conquered by Serbian forces in 1912; but even their own estimates put the Orthodox Serb population at less than 25%. The majority population was Albanian, and did not welcome Serb rule, so "conquered" seems the right word.
Kosovo was not incorporated into the Serbian kingdom in 1912; it remained occupied territory until after 1918. Finally it was incorporated, not into a Serbian state, but into a Yugoslavia. And with one big interruption, WWII, it remained part of Yugoslavia until June 2006.
Until the destruction of the old federal Yugoslavia by Milosevic, Kosovo had a dual status. It was called a part of Serbia; but it was also called a unit of the federation. In all practical ways, the latter sense prevailed: Kosovo had its own parliament and government, and was directly represented at the federal level, alongside Serbia. It was, in fact, one of the eight units of the federal system.

Why?

Practising Albanian orthodox here.

The holy patriarch is out of his mind as are most of our patriarchs all over the world.

The continuous nationalization of our church is our main problem.
We keep getting screwed by these clueless patriarchs.
