its not that i think it should be settled now Peggy, truth is, it IS settled. I as a citizen of Kosova can visit Australia (of course I need a visa first but the premise is there nonetheless) so its only ever not settled in your head. the next generation will not have to worry about it, at least not over here. however, you can still poison unborn babies with myths about a land that is full of serbian knights and honor, a description that only ever fits in fairy tales and fantasies, kinda your lecturing on Ottoman Serbia. so don't worry, the right that your kids enjoy in Kosova apparently, is already taken care of, we have made sure that that is one less burden for them to carry :-)

=======================
MY dreams? Say what you want but if Serbs thought that way then all those generations born after Ottoman empire invaded would not care enough to liberate their land.
You see Nikolle, Serbs do care and these dreams will be the same dreams future generations will have. I really don't think it will take that long thought.
Yes I have said that it would be great if this could be settled now. But, in case it can't be settled then I know that Serbia should not settle it in a way which will damage Serbia even if it means that our children will have to settle it. I know you think it should be done now because you have the backing of the US now. That would suit you very nicely.
So you see, it would be immoral to settle it now if it was to detriment of Serbia. If we settled it now to our detriment our descendants would hold it against us.
You say you don't care about my kids. WHY THEN DID YOU BRING THEM UP????

"You have no idea what my kids have seen and what they haven't seen. You have no idea how my kids feel about Serbia so it would be best if you didn't write garbage telling me about my own kids. Worry about your own. "

you are right, i don't know anything 'bout your kids (nor do I care to know anything), however, you have given me an insight into your personality and writing stuff like; 'wait for a more favorable time' doesn't suggest a lets-deal-with-issues-now kind of person. well excuse me, but that is shameful and immoral. as for the rest of your jingoistic and Ottoman Empire nonsense...well...I think piffle best describes it. Its the same thing I read here most of the time by people who live so far away from Serbia that it might as well be a different planet. don't worry though Peggy, it must be heartening for you to know that the next generation will be programmed to fight for YOUR dreams and not their own :-)...just so you know however, they are too are bound to fail, as your generation has done, but i'm sure by then they won't care for a place where only 1/10 people is like them

i didn't actually pay attention to this. i love the fact that you believe future generations (people who haven't even been born at that!) have something that belongs to them in Kosova and all they have to do to get, is kick someone out :-)...brillaint, really brilliant

do you actually genuinely think that its a good idea for future generations to inherit todays problems? if you think that, then I pity your kids

Now I ask you again, why do you care what future generations of Serbs will have on their plate?

Was it a good idea for generations of Serbs to inherit problems of their forefathers when Serbs were under Ottoman Empire? It took hundreds of years for Serbs to kick the Turks back. It may take some time to do the same with you and an important event like kicking you back and taking back what is theirs may have to wait for more favourable times.
Maybe you want Serbs to rush and think they can't leave this for another generation and make that big mistake. Some things are worth waiting for and yes I do think if need be we should leave it to the next generation for the times might be better then than now. Whatever it takes.
Yes, I would like to solve this now and not leave it for our kids or grand kids but we can't always have what we want when we want it.

Nice try hoping I would say it's not fair and we must solve it right away at any expense.

What's immoral about not resolving an issue which can't be resolved anyway because the two sides view things differently and are not ready to make any real compromise (especially the kosovo Albanians who don't accept anything less than the recognition of their independence)? The immoral for Serbia would be to create yet another disfunctional and totally dependent on others little state in the Balkans as if we don't have enough of those already. With time political alliances change and I think that time works in favour of the Serbs. Americans will intervene less and less in the Balkans like they did in Russia's underbelly and eventually they will leave us alone. Then the Kosovo Albanians will negotiate with less arrogance because they will know that they don't have the superpower backing them up. The idea is great and Boris Tadic is a joke.

Is it immoral to live in a government funded house despite not having any role in government, in a country with 25% Unemployment. Is it immoral to drink champagne with Solana and only go to church to get your picture taken? Is it immoral to betray the dreams of Serbs who wanted democracy so that your friends can make a lot of money, and you can avoid governing?

Boris it seems can not lecture anyone on morality

What has “moved on”?
(sj, 31 December 2012 23:01)

Simply everything. No place has much resemblance with the days until 1999. All the countries you have listed have improved living standards and GDP. Now here comes Serbia 2012: Highest inflation in Europe, 170 000 jobs lost only this year, debts increased (highest since 8 years) and now as the icing and the Christmas present 10% higher gas prices from your "best" friends. Very funny indeed when you reflect that WTI crude oil barrel price was dropping, Brent crude oil stagnating and the natural gas price falling deeply from 8 dollars to 3,5 dollars [pcm] in this year only. It leaves me just to say: Happy New Year!

What has “moved on”? Where has Kosovo gone? How many industries have opened up in Kosovo by their western allies? Has Kosovos’s level of unemployment reduced the official rate of 45%? What’s happened in Slovenia? How far have Bulgaria, Romania or Hungary moved forward?

Of course it's stupid to have a 'plan' to freeze the unresolved Kosovo conflict, but anyway, as long as Serbs still think 'Kosovo is Serbia' and Albanians still live in the illusion that 'Kosovo is an independent state like all the others' and nobody wants a compromise, this situation will stay like it is, i.e. unresolved, just like the situation in Cyprus stayed for about 30 years so far.

I am not a fan of Serbia joining the European Union, and I think Serbia wait for a while to see what will happen, because Britain and who knows who else wants to leave, and there is of the course the Eurozone Debt Crisis.

Not only immoral but also totally futile and suicidal. This kamikaze strategy would only mean to make 8 Mio people in Serbia political and economical cannon fodder for a lost cause. Serbia itself would become a frozen conflict, politically isolated, economically broken, militarily encircled and socially lost. Short, a new episode of the 1990s, but this time Serbia as the black hole while everyone around her moves on, including Kosovo.

"...kicking you back and taking back what is theirs..."

i didn't actually pay attention to this. i love the fact that you believe future generations (people who haven't even been born at that!) have something that belongs to them in Kosova and all they have to do to get, is kick someone out :-)...brillaint, really brilliant

its not that i think it should be settled now Peggy, truth is, it IS settled. I as a citizen of Kosova can visit Australia (of course I need a visa first but the premise is there nonetheless) so its only ever not settled in your head. the next generation will not have to worry about it, at least not over here. however, you can still poison unborn babies with myths about a land that is full of serbian knights and honor, a description that only ever fits in fairy tales and fantasies, kinda your lecturing on Ottoman Serbia. so don't worry, the right that your kids enjoy in Kosova apparently, is already taken care of, we have made sure that that is one less burden for them to carry :-)

, it must be heartening for you to know that the next generation will be programmed to fight for YOUR dreams and not their ow
=======================
