Dačić: "uh-oh, we are screwed"... "So we will continue basically the same way". I never was a fan of this guy and very suspicious about Nikolić.

Hint-hint: if what you say is correct (and IMO it is!) than one thing remains: RESIGN.

The current geopolitical and economic situation does not favor Kosovo the way we would like, the solution is to freeze the conflict, do not focus on Kosovo for the time being and take on the economic problems.

One thing Serbs can be sure about: the American corporate greed and spinelessness. Use that to your advantage, like the Chinese do: provide high-skilled labor and make sure you work on things deeply inside of the "system". At one point - if done correctly - you will hold the keys. It won't happen tomorrow and it won't happen with people "qualified" like Dačić or Nikolić. Forget the damn Kosovo for now and freeze the conflict.

As far as EU - it's indeed not needed. If the situation is like in the rest of the area than they will siphon out the best specialists. If it is better, than no one needs to join that system.

It is good to see reality setting in. For this is the reality: Kosovo is overwhelmingly full of Albanians, the removal using the Serbian military failed.

Now all Serb politicians prefess peace with Abanians. So what is it that Serbs are asking for? To me it is clear, Serbs want the right to reattempt forceful removal of Albanians at a later date. This is precisely what is unacceptable for Albanians. Everything else we can probably agree on.

Serbia must cease and desist on this "Kosovo is Serbia" BS. This should not be difficult to understand. "Kosovo is Serbia" means war is possible at any time.

Happy New Year to everybody and especially to peace loving humans everywhere.

The platform is not flexible and it offers the Albanians nothing so it is just going to lie there like a big weight around Serbia's neck.
(a New Day, 29 December 2012 18:50)

Just note that the platform is meant for internal Serbian consumption for the Serbs who are willing to buy it (like Vojislav) - it's not meant for the talks with Kosovo or others in the international community. So, in that sense, it is an excellent platform for those who are in power in Serbia.

It provides a cover for Tomislav and Ivica to say that they had the best intentions (as shown in the platform) when it comes to Kosovo, but they could not fully implement it despite their best efforts :)

I take Dhaciq's thoughts and opinions with a grain of salt.

But saying "Serbia needs the EU"... Did Romania and Bulgaria need the EU? Did their living standards improve? No.

I know you fear Serbia turning away from the EU because then what use will they have of even entertaining anything the KLA institutions have to say? Your fear is evident by your committed participation on the B92 site. As you should, they are one of the biggest media outlets in your country, Serbia!

Ari,

I see I got your attention.

It is clearly obvious that your are upset at my comments since your English becomes almost incomprehensible when you are rattled by another forum participant's prose. You even resort to childish tactics such as altering another person's handle. If that is the best you can do then it shows how little self esteem you must have to make such a fool of yourself. On the other hand, I'm beginning to believe you are just a pimple faced jobless teenager with too much time on his hands.

btw, I did not state that "Serbia needs the EU", your leader Dacic did. Take the issue up with him, don't shoot the messenger. Also, Romania and Bulgaria have been helped immensely by being allowed to join the EU since their citizens are now permitted to seek jobs in other EU countries, unlike Serbia's large number of unemployed. Merry Christmas!

But saying "Serbia needs the EU" is not really explaining WHY Serbia needs the EU. Did Romania and Bulgaria need the EU? Did their living standards improve? No.

There is one thing that Kosovo agrees with you - i.e. that Serbia should not joining the EU. Whether Serbia withdraws the application or the EU rejects it, it does not matter, as long as Serbia does not join. Kosovo will do everything it can to help you achive the goal of not having Serbia joining the EU.

So, the answer to the question "why Serbia needs the EU" is that Serbia does not need it and hence should withdraw its application. Hopefully you and Kosovo together can convince Serbs in Serbia to withdraw the EU membership application so that Kosovo does not have to worry about Serbian vetos in the EU. Immagine if Serbia had been an EU member in 2008 - Kosovo's DI would have never been possible.

Pakistan's recognition is the 98th making the majority of the wolrd supoorting Kosova's independence.

Lybia, Egypt, Tunisia will make the number go over 100. There are other countries that will follow too. First semester of 2013 Kosova will have most likely over 110 recognitions. Then UN.

Serbian platform says: Kosova is Serbian province and within Kosova Serbs in north should have autonomy.

In other words, Kosova should give up of her independence, send a letter to each of these 98 countries saying: thanks but we were kidding. Go and figure... how far these clowns can go is amazing for the entire civilised world.

The last Serbian government looked Eurosceptic compared with the new one. As a 'Euroagnostic' I feel like there is even less debate about Europe than there was before and that is saying something.

Serbian politics is pretty silent about the government's EU policies, so they are to blame as well.

Nikolic should take part in the negotiations... said Dacic.
Why? So you're not the only sellout?!

If Pakistan has recognized Kosovo...?
You know they did. This is your way of surrendering and getting the people prepared for what's about to come.

Dacic is probably the most skilled politician in Serbia. He finds ways to survive. I cannot believe that Serbs keep buying his BS day after day.

They say people deserve their governments. I hesitate to agree with this phrase. New countries certainly don't. But, countries that have been around for a while probably do.

Dačić noted that “we have lost many friends in the international scene and that Kosovo is recognized by new countries day after day”.

All Albanians have Vuk Jeremic to thank for helping Kosova to get more recognitions.

Why is it that "Serbia does not have a single friend in the West", as Dacic stated? I think we all know the answer to this question except, perhaps, Ari Gold, who still has his head in the sand.

He kind of rambles around in circles doesn't he? One minute he wishes for an international conference on Kosovo, then he says that more and more countries are recognizing Kosovo. Which means since more than 1/2 of the countries have already and more inclined to any international conference would be in support of an independent Kosovo.
Then he talks of Serbia needing the EU and then says that the talks with Pristina should be suspended which also closes the door to the EU.
The so called platform if presented in 2000 would have received a better reception with the international community and would have been a starting point for negotiations, but like the saying now it is "a day late and a dollar short".
The platform is not flexible and it offers the Albanians nothing so it is just going to lie there like a big weight around Serbia's neck. As long as the "platform" is mentioned I would not expect any progress toward the EU. Of course that makes many in here happy, especially those who have made a life outside of Serbia.

Most certain Egypt is next on the list of recognitions. I wonder if Vuk can change their mind, since he was bragging so much about Egypt while he was FM.

I know you fear Serbia turning away from the EU because then what use will they have of even entertaining anything the KLA institutions have to say? Your fear is evident by your committed participation on the B92 site.
