Why would I move to Kosovo? I'm happy in my own country thank you very much, I have a job here too btw. When are you moving to Serbia?
(Ian, UK, 21 December 2012 10:32)

There is an old Australian saying “stop it or you will go blind”. Kosovo has industries – please go tell it to your grandmother. While you’re at it tell her that the UK only has 7.2% unemployment.
You know Slovenia it’s the one that with Croatia propped up Serbia is now in trouble because the lies have come home to roost and the EU is no longer willing to financially support up and you talk of this magic Kosovo. Please grow up.
Just what do you do for a living?

Maybe you should look up the percentage of goods entering kosovo from Serbia and compare it with the percentage of goods entering from the countries you mentioned. If you do that you will see that more than 70%of the goods they import travels through Serbia. When it comes to groceries and medicine the percentage is even higher.
(Daniel, 21 December 2012 09:15)

Kosovo's two biggest trade parteners are Macedonia and Turkey. It makes no logical sense for them goods to travel through Serbia first before entering Kosovo. And a lot of goods which Kosovo imports arrive at Pristina Airport of via the sea from the Port of Durres before entering Kosovo.

You give these Albanian geniuses enough rope they end up hanging themselves and go straight to the CIA world book and quote drivel by the bucket load.

Kosovo export textiles and meat eh? Considering the size of this Kosovo just how much meat is exported when you have more people than animals?

Textiles? I can ship textiles cheaper and better quality from China to Kosovo than you can produce it there. But where do you source the raw materials? Import them? Or do you also grow cotton during the winter months?

Yes its only 7.8% just like the US is only 7.2% - We are going through the worst recession/depression in history and unemployment is falling in the US and UK. Here is some advice; when mother sends to the market don’t trade in your cow for magic beans.

When are you permanently moving to that Albanian paradise called Kosovo?
(sj, 20 December 2012 23:00)

I have no idea what the "CIA World Book" is. And I don't have a copy.

These are facts. I'm sorry that these facts don't fit in with your crazy theories. And yes you may be able to get better textiles from China but it isn't stopping Kosovo from exporting textiles and making money.

This may be the "worst recession/depression in history" but I'm certainly not feeling the affects of it. Life is good and I have plenty of money in my pocket!

All Serbia has achieved is a partial free trade agreement with a very small part of Kosovo; whereas Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia have a full free trade agreement with all of Kosovo. But you can dress it up as a victory if it makes you feel good about yourself.

Please read the detail of agreement my dear Serbian citizens of Albanian ethnicity ;

“Vehicles carrying goods that are not subject to excise tax will be able to enter northern Kosovo without clearance, which also applies to excise goods weighing up to three and a half tons,”
[link]

EVERYTHING LESS THAN 3.5 TONS ENTERS WITHOUT CLEARANCE ! Which means no customs on any goods below 3.5 Tons, no involvement or control by parralel ethnic Albanian representatives in Serbia's southern province!

Now Count Kosov"A" ask yourself who stitched you up - EU or Thaci ???
(No Clearance required, 20 December 2012 02:42)

You do realise that goods which are travelling from Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia into Kosovo can enter Kosovo a lot more freely than goods entering Kosovo from Serbia?

Serbian goods can only enter Kosovo tax free if they're under 3.5 Tons (not including excise goods) when intended for Northern Kosovo only. And tax has to be paid if the goods are going South of the Ibar.

Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia can have goods (including excise goods) enter Kosovo with no restrictions or tax what-so-ever, regardless of the weight.

So who has really been stitched up here? Serbia has.

All Serbia has achieved is a partial free trade agreement with a very small part of Kosovo; whereas Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia have a full free trade agreement with all of Kosovo. But you can dress it up as a victory if it makes you feel good about yourself.

Both sides can keep doing the contraband they were already doing. "Good". The so much sought "rule of law" in the north starts by saying "no rules and no controls" for things under 3.5 tons. We'll see how it goes. Personally, I am starting to get disappointed. Certain people from both sides benefit from lawlessness as B92 showed and the only entity who has some leverage to force some control, the EU, is doing nothing so far. Not sure what their game is.

Apart from BS what does Kosovo have to export? Or are you talking about Kosovo on Mars?
(sj, 19 December 2012 21:55)

I'm not talking about the Kosovo on Mars, I'm talking about the country in South-eastern Europe.

Here in the UK, we imported 140% more goods/ resources in 2012 than we did in 2011, mainly in the agricultural, energy, mining and food processing sectors.

Turkey imports a lot Kosovan goods from the textile, metal and meat processing sectors.

Does this give you a clue/ an idea as to what Kosovo exports yet?

Since 2008, Kosovo has been open for business. This is why Kosovo has the fastest growing economy in Europe. This is why 37% of Kosovo was classed as being in Poverty in 2007 and by 2010 in had dropped to 30% (7% is a lot in 3 years) and it will have decreased further as we're now almost in 2013. Also in 2007, 55% of Kosovo was unemployed, by 2010 in had dropped to 40% (15% is a lot in three years) and what will it be in 2013? I don't know, 30-35% maybe? This is why in 2011, Kosovo had a GDP per capita of $7,043-$6,500 and in 2007 Kosovo it was $1,800.

You're the one who claims to be an expert on economics, you should know all this.

Do you really think the West would support the independence of Kosovo if they couldn't make serious money?

Is the jigsaw fitting together yet? Are the bells ringing in symphony yet? BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! Have you hit the jackpot yet???

Or does 7.8% still equal 1 in 5?

If Serbia were to allow Kosovo join CEFTA as opposed to UNMIK, this issue could have been avoided all together.

Now tax has to be paid on alcohol, tobacco, petrol, diesel and Narcotics ect when intended for Northern Kosovo and tax has to be paid on everyhthing when intended for the rest of Kosovo. Of course all of these goods can go to Northern Kosovo and the rest of Kosovo duty free if they enter Kosovo through Montenegro, Albania or Macedonia as Kosovo has free trade agreements with these countries, but not with Serbia. Serbia exports 12 times more goods to Kosovo than it imports from Kosovo. So who is the real looser from paying tax here?

Please read the detail of agreement my dear Serbian citizens of Albanian ethnicity ;

Maybe you should look up the percentage of goods entering kosovo from Serbia and compare it with the percentage of goods entering from the countries you mentioned. If you do that you will see that more than 70%of the goods they import travels through Serbia. When it comes to groceries and medicine the percentage is even higher.

Why would I move to Kosovo? I'm happy in my own country thank you very much, I have a job here too btw. When are you moving to Serbia?

Kosovo's two biggest trade parteners are Macedonia and Turkey. It makes no logical sense for them goods to travel through Serbia first before entering Kosovo. And a lot of goods which Kosovo imports arrive at Pristina Airport of via the sea from the Port of Durres before entering Kosovo.
