While you're questioning, it might be helpful to see if these opposition members are also members of an NGO back by foreign nations. As such they are deemed foreign agents in both USA and Russia. In the free nation of Quebec if mote than 50 people demonstrate without police-pre-approved dates/times/counts&path of said demonstration the leader will be arrested and charged. I recall a number of occuyiers find their way in jail of pepper sprayed in the face for applying their constitutionally protected rights, but surprise surprise all levels of government, police, judicial and elected officials ignored the constitution and squashed these rights.

"If i as a British Citizen tried to hold a meeting with several hundred people outside number ten Downing street in London, what do you think would happen? i would be arrested, anyway the Police would stop me getting anywhere near Downing street with hundreds of people."

True, but this place was not in front of the Kremlin(which is comparable to your 'outside number 10 downing street'), but more than one km away (like the Piccadilly Circus in London). Furthermore, I don't think the British PM would have banned a rally of an opposition party.

Well said englishman.

british police like to beat people and tip disabled people out of wheelchairs because they 'could be a threat'. mark steel, the british comedian highlighted chelsea & westminster's byzantine by-laws for getting demonstrations approved in front of downing street and whitehall not to mention the many, many other ways they can be blocked.

As for navalny, he still hasn't faced the law for his kirovsky les rip-off. the opposition are a bunch of pr whores who try to get arrested simply for air time. nobody votes for them.

Welcome to Russian democracy. No wonder no one ever applies for asylum to emigrate to Russia.

I have a very good idea. Try holding a similar demonstration any near the White House and see how long it takes the police to round you up and throw you in prison.

Welcome for Albotroller Tiranasaurus, no wonder he has nothing else here just to troll.

That the salaries in Moscow are about six to ten times what is being paid to engineers in Tiranasauria... that he forgot to troll about. Democracy... sure. Once you have a democratic, merciful, humanitarian smoking crater where Tiranasauria is - than you can complain but you won't even know what did hit you.
