People tend to assume that everyone wants what they do, when often that is not the case. I also have to wonder how someone 4000 miles away could claim to know what the majority of people on the street want.

Who do people have to vote for? All parties seem to be the same when it comes to EU. They all want to get into EU so no matter who people vote for they don't get a vote on the EU issue.

Take Ireland for example. They were forced to keep voting until EU got the answer they wanted. The NO vote first time was not going to cut it so they kept going until they got a YES. Am I wrong?

The only way is to have a referendum. An election is NOT a referendum since all parties want the same thing, well all parties with any hope of winning.

It's their traitor governments driving the pro EU policy and are not giving people a chance to decide in a referendum.
Peggy,
In a democratically elected government, people elect leaders to make decisions for them. If the people are unhappy with those decisions then they vote the leaders out of office. Therefore every election day is a referendum on what the government has done. If they are happy with what they are doing they vote them back into office.

They would given a chance but thier governments are keeping them hostage in the EU.
People don't want to be part of this nightmare. It's their traitor governments driving the pro EU policy and are not giving people a chance to decide in a referendum.

I have read the constitution and shook my head after reading it. It needs to be reworked as there are many 'holes' in it. Actually, the whole country needs to be fixed starting from the TOP down!!!

This whole issue about decentralization is nonsense. Simply grant municipalities greater control of their budgets, tax collection, etc. and problem solved. That's what this is all about isn't it, money? But while we are on the topic, Vojvodina shouldn't even be a province, I mean why should it be given special treatment from the rest of Serbia? If anything its only costing people in "Vojvodina" more in taxes for more political hot air.

If you want to makes changes to the Constitution, fine, I agree there are many holes in it that need clarification on some laws but if your going to do it, then do it right the first time, and stop changing it every damn decade!

This lady is insane. Serbia already has too much 'governance expenses' that come out of the budget that its probably the key problem to Serbia's economic problems. There are 100 U.S. Senators but 250 MP's in Serbia's parliament. There are 7-8 Gov't agencies in Germany but 138 in Serbia. Do you see a trend here? This system FEEDS those who have the right to 'govern'.

And now this woman wants even more of that, even more gov't jobs to pay for, regional parliaments and all that, as if Serbia has 500 million people and therefore should decentralize. So now Serbs have to pay more than 20% in taxes to the gov't to be able to provide jobs for more administrative positions. These jobs do not grow the economy, just a strain on the state budget for no reason.

Serbia needs economic decentralization. Meaning what ever money the region produces doesn't go further than small economic units. Vojvodina is too large to be such unit but its historical regions-Srem, Banat & Backa would be ideal. This way you don't have all the money going back to Belgrade but staying locally for the purpose of regional development.

In every democratic country people should be asked what do they want.Past 12 years in Serbia we who do not live there knows more about Serbia then people who live in it.In elections few months ago people of Serbia have decide to who they believe.Things that this new government have done in this past months looking good from my point of view but a lot of garbage that is left to them have to be solved.I wish them and people of Serbia good luck, it's time to change something in that part of the world...you deserve to be asked what will you do with your country and your life.

Some of these people are really delusional. They probably visited some EU country once, and asked themselves, why can't this be us. Now they are willing to break apart their country just to get it and openly state in public. As if the EU is the panacea for all their ills. Serbia existed before the EU and it will continue to exist long after.

“But not a single country has left the EU,” she stressed. Wait for it, UK may be the first one's out.

PS: The European Standard is not necessarily synonymous with excellence. Case in point: Common Agricultural Policy, Fisheries Policy.
