Official dismisses talk of "Priština's embassy"

Priština - i.e., the Kosovo authorities - will certainly not have "an embassy" in Belgrade, a Serbian government official has said.

So many questions:
- My many Albanian friends are distrustful of Serbs, but want to move on beyond conflict.
- I do not know many Serbians, but it is not by choice, rather by limited exposure.
==================================
Thank you for addressing my questions. So many people don't bother.

Many Serbs want to move beyond conflict too but can't because they are still persecuted and even their dead can't rest in peace because of all the vandalism of Serbian cemetaries.
If you are a frequent visitor to this site you must know by now just how many Serbs are still under attack and how often the graves are desecrated. Tell me, do Serbs do this to Albanians in Serbia proper?
So you see when Serbs are a majority they don't persecute the minority but when Albanians are a majority they persecute the minority
What do Albanians you know think about all the persecution and NATO having to protect the remaining Serbs in enclaves? Are they proud of this?

The limited exposure to Serbs also speaks volumes. Where are the Serbs from the area? Do you know why they are no longer there and what do you think about that?

How about you think about the reality on the ground and accept that acions speak louder than words. The saying still rings true you know. Actions do speak louder than words.

Do you also accept that no Albanian committed crimes so therefore is not punished by Hauge becaue your friends must?

Think hard next time you post.

How about you take time to check out the other side and become more informed before you make comments?
Also, what about the attitudes expressed by your friends the Albanians towards the Serbs here? Have you even read the comments from Albanians or do you choose to ignore that?
You see, we all choose what we want to take in and what we want to reject whether it be the truth or not.
Seeing how you seem to only have Albanian friends then you have only half the story so please spare us the comments until you know the whole story.

Somehow I find an American making a choice to move to Kosovo a bit unbelievable unless that American is in the military.
Why are you there? Do you have a relationship with an Albanian woman and that is your whose reason for bias?
Who knows but you obviously by your own admission haven't bothered to mix with Serbs and find out the other half of the truth.

- I am married to an American (of German descent), though she speaks Albanian better than me. :)
- I have started a business in Kosovo, hence my reason for being here. I do have one Kosovo Serb engineer, and he is getting along well with everyone (because we avoid talk about religion and politics at work).
- I have only met a few other Serbs, but would like to meet more.

It's simple: Embassies are for states, liaison offices are for any other entity or organization. Conclusion: Kosovo -> no state -> no embassy

P.S:

Vojvodina has an office in Brussels, too - but not an embassy!
(Comm. Parrisson, 10 December 2012 17:23)

States have liaison offices too, but never in their own country.

Correct, Vojvodina has an "office" in Brussels not an Embassy; however Kosovo has an Embassy in Brussels not an "office".

Ida,

The term for "grandkid of an illegal immigrant" is "citizen".

Even if this Serbian story of unrestricted immigration from Albania is true (and I suspect, like most Serbian stories, is exaggerated), what difference does it make? If someone is a 3rd generation citizen of a country, that's not good enough for you? I just shows how deeply racist some Serbs are about Albanians.

It's weird, though, I don't remember hearing this kind of contempt about Albanians from my grandparents. Have Serbs always been this way, or is it a more recent contrivance, this hatred of Albanians?

@ Glen... you told this story in may or june...I am an American, but I do live in Kosovo. I do not work for an international organization; Kosovo is the place that I have chosen to live and work. I probably do not know all of the history of the conflict, and in fact have generally heard only 1 side of the story (and yes, I know that there are two sides to every story).

But ,if what you say is true ill let you know about the Balkans...Get in a car , start from the Hungarian border ,drive south for 8 hours...to ur left is romania, bulgaria ... right croatia ,bosnia ,albania...8 hours, done ...ur in Greece....(By plane ,that trip was 45 minutes)the arias are so small ,we need too find a way too live together and yes ,the Albanians do have Serbian Citizenship...

On the Street I live on , I have @ least 5 Albanian families ...we all say Hello to one another ...unfortunately, I think,we'd like too talk more but haven't found something to talk about...we,just wish each other happy holidays..and Hello...

When you're right you are. According to your logic: the liaison office can not be an embassy because such institutions are reserved for full fledged states only. I would like to add a tad bit, you're right it can't be an embassy because serbia is a partially recognized corrupt territory and not a sovereign state.

Fact is something like this can do Serbia no good whatsoever. Nothing good ever comes out of any of this for Serbs. The Albanians are thieves - they have committed a mass theft with NATO help. They stole so much Serbian land - both public, private and religious. Many of them are illegals or the kids or grandchildren of illegals. Tito allowed Albanians to settle into Kosovo uninhibited, while he forbid the Serbs expelled during WWII to return. (However, he didn't prevent Montenegrins from moving to Kosovo and that's why many of the Serbs in Kosovo have Montenegrin origin.)

Nonetheless Serbia should not be doing any deals with the Albanians - they can't be trusted and neither can their backers in the international community.

I think there are a few more things to settle before Albanians start dreaming of an embassy in BG, like a status resolution on Kosovo, the one that the Serbian government has stated it will never recognize an independent Albanian KiM. There are some Albanians who say that the attitude of some Serbs perfectly reflects why Serbia lost Kosovo, and that Albanians can never be treated as equals by Serbs.

The truth is that the Serbs have always treated All Law Abiding Albanians as equals, but some Albanians Decided to become Criminals.

They did this in WW 2 by becoming Nazis, and did it again recently with the KLA, who Bribed American Politicians to be their Willing Partners in Crime.

The Third League of Prizren was an organization founded in 1946 by group of Albanians in America in order to organize and coordinate activities aimed at the creation of Greater Albania; and, Albania was directly involved in combined propagandist and diversion fight against Yugoslavia, and armaments transported from Albania to Kosovo presented significant danger to all law abiding citizens of Southern Yugoslavia.

Are Albanians willing tell the World these truths, because Citizens who Deliberately Lie about their own Country, will not endear themselves toward Knowledgeable Citizens.

While entitled to their own Opinions, those who think a Person is Deliberately or Ignorantly functioning on Lies, will be treated politely, but will understandably and wisely be shunned.

Albanians need to Demand that the Kumanovo Agreement scrapped, and that Serbia’s SAA Agreement is Implemented, before any consideration can be made of a some type of Provincial Ambassador to Belgrade of the Albanians of Serbia’s Province of Kosovo.

@ Glen... you told this story in may or june...I am an American, but I do live in Kosovo.

So many questions:
- My many Albanian friends are distrustful of Serbs, but want to move on beyond conflict.
- I do not know many Serbians, but it is not by choice, rather by limited exposure.
