This process, has been long overdue! This will bring, Albanians from all over the world together & unite them, just as in the case of Israel! I would however, advise extreme caution on Albania's part! A very, thoughtful system, that verifies one ethnic background must be put in place, prior to any person being approved for Albanian citizenship!!! Also, i would like to see a law passed by Albania & Kosova, that would require all men & woman of Albanian ethnic backgrounds, ages 18-45, to serve a mandatory 1-2 years in the military! Be it peace time, or armed conflict! Our generation, has the ability thru democratic means & reforms of achieving something, that has evaded us for a century now! My fellow Albanians, we are witnessing the beginnings of something that is beyond ones imagination! Our generation, must insure that we elect democratically educated & responsible officials, for governmental positions!!! We must insure, that no longer will we tolerate divisions amongst our people's, whether it be speech, religious, or political party affiliations!!! He who has the best interests of the Albanian nation! He shall be crowned, and appointed to the throne! Forward, full force!!!

Albania
Population: 3.002.859 ((July 2012 est.)

95% are Albanians. 95% of 3.002.859 = 2.852.716

Kosovo
Population: 1.836.529 (July 2012 est.)

92% are Albanians. 92% of 1.836.529 = 1.689.606

Macedonia
Population: 2.082.370 (July 2012 est.)

25,2% are Albanians. 25,2% of 2.082.370 = 524.757 (that's more than a half million)

Montenegro
Population: 657.394 (July 2012 est.)

5,3% are Albanians. 5,3% of 657.394 = 34.841

In Serbia and Greece there are no records of the Albanian population but their number is believed to be around 600.000 in both countries. Lets now do some math:

2.852.716 + 1.689.606 + 524.757 + 34.841 + 600.000 = 5.701.920 Albanians (total)

You are right, this doesn't make 7,5 million, but you are also way off. According to you there are just 3,4 million Albanians living in the Balkans which, like I demonstrated, is far from true.

So, now that we have the right numbers, we can have a discussion based on facts rather than on wishful thinking by both parties.

Albanian citizenship? That's like giving out expire food, who want's it!? What good is it? The main reason that you don't see countries in Eastern Europe doing this is because most of their citizens are looking for a way to get out of Eastern Europe. Several countries (mainly rich ones!) do not even allow dual citizenship. When you achieve citizen status in one country, you cannot just hop around and try to get it somewhere else whenever you feel like it.

Neither of you are right. There is believed to be around 7.2 Million Albanians world wide.

2,690,000 in Albania.
1,680,000 in Kosova.
500,000 in Macedonia.
270,000 to 600,000 in Greece.
40,000 in Serbia
30,000 in Montenegro.
15,000 in Croatia.
10,000 in Romania.

And Michael your math must be terrible also as there are a lot more than 900,000 Albanians in Kosova, try doubling it. And there are more than 2 million in Albania.

This is actually a good idea. It will act as an incentive for Albanian immigrants living in Kosovo and Macedonia to go back to their homeland, Albania. And if we go back another 100 years around 1800 then the Albanians would be even less.
The day after Albania proclaimed Independence the Serbian army was well received/awaited in the town of Drac/Durres and the people where happy that they were liberated!! So you can see that these ethnic albanian lands were multi-ethnic 100 years ago!
Stop stealing lands you have your own country, Don't make enemies of your neighbours!

Those people came from today's southern Albania,they were Orthodox and did not have an albanian national consciense because back then there was no such thing as an albanian nation. Nationalism came a lot later. They spoke arvanitika which they still do (the most elderly at least) but that didn't prevent them from fighting against the Ottomans (and Muslim Albanians) in the Greek revolution of 1821. Now if you people think that in a national revolution take part as a whole people who belong to other nations, continue believing it but the Arvanites and their descendants prove you wrong. The Arvanites don't need a DNA test to prove their greek identity. They proved it by fighting for it.

Why the Albanian Arbereshe have national conscience while the arvanites dont!!! They left Albania at the same time after Scanderbeg, the first for Italy and the second for Greece. Constanitne the Great was ruler in Berat (central Albania) - there he became Christian. The second largest Baptister in the Roman Empire was Butrinti in south Albania that is about 2 hours south from Berat.

One more thing you don't know is that his nephew Justinian build 2 cities in his homeland. You know which are these cities?? Prishtina and Shkupi not Cack or Valjevo.

That would certainly make the neighbors feel better about the whole thing - it should cut down the numbers taking the offer to almost nothing. A chance of being called up for a couple of years of unpaid labor is not all that attractive an offer. (The Mormons in the U.S. try something similar - they get unsuspecting non-Mormon parents to sign a paper registering their newborn as a Mormon, and then when the kid begins to work, he starts getting demands for 10% of his income. And they're pretty persistent about getting their money. The moral: consider the requirements as well as the benefits - if only getting rid of a pesty person with an innocuous-looking piece of paper - before signing up for anything.

Anyway, universal conscription is a thing of the past - even infantrymen are specialists these days and receive more training than most countries could afford for everybody.

Albania
Population: 3.002.859 ((July 2012 est.)

95% are Albanians. 95% of 3.002.859 = 2.852.716

Kosovo
Population: 1.836.529 (July 2012 est.)

Neither of you are right. There is believed to be around 7.2 Million Albanians world wide.

2,690,000 in Albania.
1,680,000 in Kosova.
500,000 in Macedonia.
270,000 to 600,000 in Greece.

First of all some history. The Arvanites came to Greece in the 15th century and settled in some regions of Attica and central Greece. Those people came from today's southern Albania,they were Orthodox and did not have an albanian national consciense because back then there was no such thing as an albanian nation. They spoke arvanitika which they still do (the most elderly at least) but that didn't prevent them from fighting against the Ottomans (and Muslim Albanians) in the Greek revolution of 1821. Now if you people think that in a national revolution take part as a whole people who belong to other nations, continue believing it but the Arvanites and their descendants prove you wrong. This is actually a good idea. It will act as an incentive for Albanian immigrants living in Kosovo and Macedonia to go back to their homeland, Albania. The fact is Kosovo will never be allowed to join Albania, not even NATO wants this believe it or not because while they can control Kosovo completely a Greater Albania would be too much of a headache. As impoverished as Albania is, it is nowhere near as impoverished as Kosovo thanks to mafia politicians in Pristina, so many will flock home to get any benefits possible available to them in Albania.

No1 is worthy enough to talk about Greece. We are the cradle of civilization and you know it.

That would certainly make the neighbors feel better about the whole thing - it should cut down the numbers taking the offer to almost nothing. A chance of being called up for a couple of years of unpaid labor is not all that attractive an offer. Do you guys remember the reason why serbs from northern Kosovo asked for Russian citizenship some months ago?
That`s the reason why Albania will give passports to Albanians outside of its borders , it`ll help albanians in macedonia and other parts because Albania will have the opportunity to get directly involved when it comes to the albanians right outside its borders. I see the albanian embassy having a lot of job to do.

If there is an Albanian guy that would not do any harms to Serbs is Sali Berisha.He loves Serbs so much that he married a Serbian woman from Montenegro called Slobodanka(Liri-in Albanian). He filled the tanks of Millosevic breaking the embargo during the Bosnian war,Bulatovic confirmed this. He arrested the KLA fighters and called on Thaci not to sign Rambouille pact that would hurt the serbs. His "business" partners are Damir Fazllic and Slobodan Tesic.Both serbs,the first one has the monopoly of the energy industry in Albania and the second one is the famous Serbian arms dealer that has some good deals for Berisha. For these guys Berisha has gone to such troubles so to cancel a German project that would connect Albania's power grid to Kosovo's and to meet and sell weapons to Tesic although he is wanted by interpol.If these things don't put you Serbs at ease with Berisha than maybe denying Kosovo's access to one of our ports closest to Kosovo it will.If you still have any doubts ask your Intelligence Service how is agent Dr.Peniciline performing lately? Berisha is a joke! So are the people who take his mad words for truths or define a people by it.

Constantine the Great.. sure he has same relation to you Serbs as much as Alexander the Great has with the FYROM-ians, more precisely N I L L :)

But what you don't know is that:

Constanitne the Great was ruler in Berat (central Albania) - there he became Christian. The second largest Baptister in the Roman Empire was Butrinti in south Albania that is about 2 hours south from Berat.

One more thing you don't know is that his nephew Justinian build 2 cities in his homeland. You know which are these cities?? Prishtina and Shkupi not Cack or Valjevo.

Btw Justinian is the emperor that codified all the laws of the Emrpire now they are known as Roman Law.

Do you still want to talk about Albanian vs Serbian contribution?? well firstly give me 2-3 Serbian names that can match Mother Theresa, Constantine or Justinian then I will gove you some more names from the Albanian side.

That is becoming a funny story Albanians vs Serbs regarding prominent figures!!!! Both Mother Teresa and Tesla contributed to mankind so that the first deserves respect as Albanian and the second as a Serb, as simple as that.

Berisha in 1996 falsified the election results that brought to destabilisation of the state.

In 1997 allowed the financial pyramidal schemes to rip-off Albanians from their savings and brought to total financial chaos.

In 1998 the Govt of national salvation organised free elections that were won by the socialist party.

In 1998 Berisha made a coup d'état to get into the office. The PM of Albania Fatos Nano miraculously escaped alive.

In 2008 again the elections were not fully free and democratic.

Today in the verge of the elections of 2013 he is patriot??

All his records show that he did every possible thing to weaken the Albanian state only for him to stay in power. Even during the war in Kosova in 1998 he was trying to throw away a legitimate govt by use of force only for him to stay in power.

Only ignorant electorate can still vote him. And in Balkans we are known to have them in abundance. Anyhow his days are over.

P.S. in 1993 Berisha with Presidential decree guaranteed to all Albanians the Albanian citizenship. So what is new today? no one eve bothers to ask him this simple question.
