So Nikolic is displeased with the ICTY for acquitting Haradinaj and as a response he is going to boycott a regional Balkan summit in Montenegro?

Where is the logic in that?

He is taking his anger out on the wrong thing. I'm pretty sure this regional summit didn't have anything to do with the acquittal of Haradinaj.
(Ian, UK, 3 December 2012 17:56)

Nothing strange... that's common for some Serbs when they loose their mind. Take for example Mr. Pantic who, in order to protest against the set up of a border between Kosovo and Serbia, threatens to block the traffic between Kosovo and Serbia !!!

In regards to what Pete wrote, explain to me this and for other serbs against this article.. Would it not be better for Nikolic to go to Montenegro voice his opinion to the enemy and establish good relations with Milo's poison government. At this point, Montenegro can become Serbia's closest ally.. We have a lot of influence in the country and a lot our people live there. Being a good president means, you address these issues and you focus on all Serbs living in the Balkans and not ones living in Central Serbia.. Russia may be our friend but we have not seen any results from them. They supported us in the 1990's but we were just puppets to endure all the media coverage from their war with the chechans..

Serbs in montenegro, macedonia, kosovo, croatia, all need a strong leader that they can support and see hope in. Serbia has yet to do this.. Nikolic by not attending the meeting, is not looking at the whole picture and has to realize that "Serbs" especially the more nationalistic ones do not only live in Belgrade..

No one in belgrade wants a war and people living there simply do not care. If this was years ago when the croat and albo got aquitted, there would of been hundred thousands of people protesting..

I can't help feeling that Nikolic is a complete idiot. How he was ever elected president I'll never know. I guess it is Tadic's fault for being too arrogant.
To Nikolic; The guy was aquitted, so get over it and look forward. All these silly games that lead to nowhere are not helping Serbia. A little diplomacy now and then does not do any harm. Go to Montenegro and be the leader we expect you to be. If you want to have a peaceful solution you don't talk to your friends you talk to your enemies.

yea not really sure that Nikolic has actually thought this through - but what exactly does he think his actions will acheive?

As is stands the entire region thinks he is a sandwich short of a picnic - this will only reinforce that perception.

I think this is another example of Serbs being led on a road to nowhere - by their own leaders - again!

Nikolic,

I, too, hate it when others treat us Kosovars (particularly Albanians) as humans in the international fora. It's ridiculous the actions of the belgradian clowns trying to interfere with the rulings of the highest international court -- don't you understand rule of law?

It's very mature of you not to show up --- I should mention that internationals read these types of headlines and probably will think twice about investing (FDI) in serbia.

I thought the separatists would be pleased by this, but no just read their comments. They are deeply disturbed by this, because they have no legitimacy and need the Serbian Government to give it to them. But why?

I saw the tee-shirts with "Uncle it's done" You are a great and amazing independent country. Why don't you stand on your feet, you have all of NATO behind you you said so yourselves? Serbia and Russia are pathetic you say, so why are you still broken? Why are you poorer today then you were when you declared independence from Serbia 5 years ago? . You removed any Serb or any Serbian name or mention, and there is nothing left of ours to pollute your towns. You got rid of all the Serbs, and all your excuses with them. When are you going to take responsibility and build this Apartheid Utopia for Albanians now that Kosovo has been cleansed of Serbs and Roma?

Milosevic is long dead and rotten in the ground, and you are victorious, or so you say. So, really for how long will the Serbian Government be the cause of and answer to all your problems?

Where is your pride to beg Serbia for recognition?

Do you also mean the albanians that are spreading over Serbia, because you fail to mention that? and many of those albanians are Kosovar and have been voicing their freedom of speech in southern serbia. So explain this to me PM?...

I don't like the puppet goverement in Montenegro.. But as a president of Serbia, he should attend the meeting as there are many Serbs that live in montenegro.. Mr Nikolic has a lot to say but has no follow through.. He tries to act like a Nationalistic President but is far from that.

Also, Nikolic is not any better then Tadic.. Hes just telling people what they want to hear but there will be in progress among the serbs.

If Nikolic wanted to have more control of Kosovo.. its real simple actually, send the Serbian army to northern kosovo and have more government presence there.

If Nikolic wants to create a stronger Serbia.. He should maintain alliances with the Serbian Parties in Montenegro and actually get them to create more opportunities for people. Its no surprise why people vote for Milo. His government controls all the job opportunities. Second, i don't see anyone complaing about dodik on how he he believes that Serbia should just give up Kosovo..

I hope a different generation of up and coming Serbian Politicians realizes this and takes control..

You have to win over the people by taking action, not by saying a couple quotes.

After observing the actions of several Serbian leaders the conclusion I came to is that they simply don't think before acting, just afterwards to complain about "why nobody can understand Serbs". This case of self-isolation here is but another example of it. It won't bring Serbia not even a millimeter further and contains zero strategy.

Mr Nikolic is only calling the world's attention to the Hague's justice. Montenegrians and the others are ignorant not seeing Albanian expansion into foreign territories. The US are building a bigger stepping stone for their boots with
spurs. They will be riding local horses.

According to the daily, Nikolić has decided not to come to the summit because of the acquittal of former commander of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Ramush Haradinaj.

This is a poor excuse , since he did not include Gotovina of Croatia. I think he is to scared to face President Atifete Jahjaga.
Jahjaga a Police Colonel with university degree vs President Nikolic an undertaker. This is the main reason.

Kenny

pre 11 godina

What a poor excuse. What has Haradinajs acquittal in the Hague to do with the meeting of heads of states in the region? He just hasnt the guts to be at the same place as Kosovos president Jahjaga because he could never return to Belgrade again.
I thought Kosovo using the snowflake in regional meetings was such a big win for Serbia, yet they still dont like it this way because said snowflake has practically melted. I'm sure the others will be devastated by Nikolics absence...
