Rasim Ljajić has informed us that Serbia will reduce cooperation with The Hague Tribunal to the lowest possible technical level because 3 out of 5 judges have acquitted Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markač.
All very well but don't you think that his (and Serbia's) frustration should be directed at judges Theodor Meron (US), Patrick Robinson (Jamaica) and Mehmet Guney (Turkey) rather than the at the tribunal.
The tribunal itself is an institution set up to deal with bringing those, who have committed crimes against humanity to face justice. The institution is not to blame, just as Serbia's courts, laws and constitution can not be blamed for the sometimes corrupt practices which go on within its boundaries.
Just as Serbia is fighting corruption within its own borders Serbia should embrace this opportunity to be more involved with the tribunal rather than less. Seeking more involvement as a result of this incidental, and in Serbia's eyes unfortunate, ruling will show a grown-up and legitimate approach to making the tribunal better, stronger and more legitimate. Rasim Ljajić response is childish and inappropriate and does little to further promote the good that this tribunal has so far managed to achieve.
