Mr Jeremic... you are an embarassment to yourself and to Serbia because of your incompetence. Your "decision" to hold such a debate is designed only to gain points amongst the Serbian population... or at least amongst the uneducated amongst our population. You know very well (or you should know) that the date "you plan" for this debate is a regularly scheduled event at the UN and the functioning of the war crimes tribunals is simply one agenda item. Also, there is a protocol to follow, and nobody (not even you) can invite outsiders to speak at the UNGA. The UN is not run the same way as a neighborhood watch committee or a parent-teacher association.

""My decision to use my authority as the UNGA president and call a public debate on the role and performance of international ad hoc tribunals set up by the UN has attracted a lot more attention here than there was before," said Jeremić."

Please go ahead... Nobody would put any pressure or non-pressure to a child that just needs attention. In any case the object of the discussion won't be the judgments of the Court and, in any case, the Court is controlled by Russia, China & co, not the General Assembly.

Before Jeremic the UNGA presidency was redundant and effectively pointless. But with Vuk is has become a pure mockery. Never before you could witness somebody faster misusing the office for a personal agenda. At least it will be warning for the future that this clown cannot be entrusted anything of real worth.

Austria-Hungary competed with Serbia and Russia for territory and influence in the region and they pulled the rest of the Great Powers into the conflict through their various alliances and treaties." and it goes on and on... Google it, or better yet read a book that wasnt written by a serbian author.

I don't understand how an OPEN debate not a closed door debate preferred by the world's leading democracies (U.S., Britian, France) is destructive. It sounds to me like the leaders of the "free" world have something to hide.

You must remember that according to the Serbian daily Danas they are against and Russia and China support it. If this DID actually come about Tuesday it is highly doubtful the govts have made a decision on the subject. My guess is actually that this was put on the schedule weeks or months ago and Jeremic is announcing it publicly now as a tool to impress the Serbian people.

I like Serbia's Vuk Jeremic strategy. Undermining the UN and its institutions from the inside. Put one UN institution against the other, start a metaphorical civil war inside the UN, wreak chaos and havoc. Gone the days when blue helmets were taken hostage, doing the job from the inside is more effective.

No matter that this may damage Serbia in the long run. One of the only arguments left in its diplomatic ammunition is the advantage it has in the UN with respect to Kosovo.

Good luck with the debate, it will gain Vuk many points for his future job ambitions in Serbia. Dacic should pay special attention to this young ambitious lad.

I have a feeling there's no pressure whatsoever and Jeremic as always tries to act as some sort of hero and saviour; you know like when he won all those diplomatic wars. Make up inexistent pressures so you seem like a messiah triumphing over evil. The Serbs will buy it everytime; guaranteed. I hope this debate happens and widens the role of the court there still thousands of people missing and we need to find who is hiding their remains.

Vuk Jeremić made a bold and honest move.

nori, your ignorance is nothing new, you obviously do not see how the world works. This needs to happen this policy of keeping everything out in the open... The west with its cloak and dagger games is slowly taking over the world, it is crushing poor countries with its lies and corporate take overs. Serbia has a bad name because of the wars but if you were an educated individual you would have done some research after the wars to see how much of what happen in bosnia and kosovo was real and how much of it was propaganda... now I am not making the serbs innocent, however they are not the only guilty parties of that war. The Germans, US and England have funded the croatians during that attack provided them with intel, if this comes out in the open it will not only show the guilt of the croatian generals but the guilt of the above countries as well as others. You people are priceless, you ignited world war one and will be the cause of world war three, i have no doubt in my mind about this. Nori

Hey Nori get an education. The Austro Hungarian Empire started WW1. Afraid of their own decline and the rise of Serbia, they annexed Bosnia in 1909 upsetting the great powers Britain and France and humiliating the Russians in the process. In 1909 they threatened that if the powers did not give them Bosnia, and Serbia did not recognise this invasion and occupation of Bosnia they would declare war on Serbia. This act sowed the seeds of WW1. As a result of this Russia began to arm herself. When in 1914 the Archduke was assassinated by Bosnian students wishing to free Bosnia from the yoke of the Austro Hungarian Empire, Austria used the assassination as an excuse to invade Serbia-something she had been wanting to do for a while-only this time the Russians were ready to defend her ally.

As for who is going to start WW3, another failing empire would be my guess-the Americans.

Finally I am still trying to work out what you mean in your last sentence. And one more thing your comment seems to suggest that fighting for a justice for all seems to be a crime in your book. Priceless.

Roger7

Jeremic was ever following Hague. I have the feeling that Dacic & Nikolic will stop him. They will have no trouble with the "great powers" how they call them. Possibly Dacic had Jeremic in mind when he spoke about "paranoia" in this context. For the Serb leadership there is no interest in the victims of Oluja or the 400 thousand hungry children within Serbia.

In the interests of a truthfull and honest world that is governed by laws where goalposts are not moved to suit a few big boys then this is the way to go.

This is in the interest of the magority of UN members all the ones who wish to feel that sovreignty and justice is guaranteed by law and not subservience offered.

Lybia don't wanna buy Rafale...
Poland told to buy F-35 or else....
Croatia told to pick US to build highway or else....

They only want it one way, their way. Policy on the run. Whatever makes the Albanians and Croats happy is the way to go.
They don't even ralize how ridiculous they sound.

Free world order

You do not try to diverge interests rather you want to impose you own interest on others.
(Nori, 20 November 2012 14:19)

No more naivety this is in the interest against big powers who believe they can act above the law. No one is silly there can be no articulation or narrow views that can spin this event away.

Serbs told to sell prime farmland to GB or lose Vojvodina...

The list goes on, there must be a stop to all this crap.

This is a stain on their souls.
(Daniel, 20 November 2012 14:13) Yeah it is going to make many on this forum think bad about the western countries! Oh, you already do, so I guess another wasted day at the UN.

I love these democracy loving trolls on this website. Here you have Mr. Jeremic urging the world body to practice open and transparent debate, one of the great pillars of democracy and they insult him and Serbia. These are the same trolls that called Serbia a pariah state under the Milosevic dictatorship. Which is it you can't have it both ways!!!!!

Excuse me but did i stumble on a sensitive spot? Hahaha well im happy to have angered you, truth hurts it always does. Im not going to address all of you because frankly i dont care what you think-

- " The more immediate cause for the war was tensions over territory in the Balkans. Austria-Hungary competed with Serbia and Russia for territory and influence in the region and they pulled the rest of the Great Powers into the conflict through their various alliances and treaties." and it goes on and on... Google it, or better yet read a book that wasnt written by a serbian author.

How come the US,GB and France are against an open debate, if you dont have anything to hide you have no reason to be afraid right?

I don't understand how an OPEN debate not a closed door debate preferred by the world's leading democracies (U.S., Britian, France) is destructive. It sounds to me like the leaders of the "free" world have something to hide.
(robert1899, 20 November 2012 16:32)
You must remember that according to the Serbian daily Danas they are against and Russia and China support it. If this DID actually come about Tuesday it is highly doubtful the govts have made a decision on the subject. My guess is actually that this was put on the schedule weeks or months ago and Jeremic is announcing it publicly now as a tool to impress the Serbian people.

Before Jeremic the UNGA presidency was redundant and effectively pointless. But with Vuk is has become a pure mockery. Never before you could witness somebody faster misusing the office for a personal agenda. At least it will be warning for the future that this clown cannot be entrusted anything of real worth.
