The mistake that we often make on this site and elsewhere is to assume that leaders speak on behalf of all their people. I can assure you that David Cameron does not speak for me and that Bakir is speaking for a small percentage of (older) Bosniaks. In my ten years in Bosnia not a single one of my many Bosniaks friends made any mention whatsoever of Mr Erdogan or any other Turkish politician/leader. They are irreligious and have no interest in the life of the Turkish Prime Minister and little interest in their own PM.

No doubt the same applies to Serbs and Mr Putin. Putting bread on the table and a roof over their children's heads is their main (only) concern, not the rantings of someone they didn't elect and who lives in a far off country.

"The only way to counter the influence of Turkey in the Balkans is for Serbia to forge a tight knit alliance with Israel. Here, we have a country that by default shares almost identical values with Serbia and has many of the same exact interests. "
(Ari Gold, 6 November 2012 15:51)

It's more like Serbian president Nicolic (Srebrenica denial) shares the values of Erdogan (Armenian genocide denial) and Ahmadinejad (Holocaust denial).

This is actually a great improvement regarding policies of his father.
Bakir Izetbegovic gave statement that Erdogan is "also a Bosniak leader". Then he explained that many muslims se him as leader including "Palestinians and Bosniaks".
He, at least, speaks about muslims, about "Palestinians and Bosniaks", about Erdogan being ""also a Bosniak leader".

His father Alija Izetbegovic was saying same thing but in the name of all of us.
Soon after elections in 1990, he went to Turkey where he gave statement that "all of Bosnians have very fond memories of golden turkish times, and see Turkey as their mother".
Bosnians, not only Bosniaks or muslims.
Neither Serbs, nor Croats in Bosnia have fond memories of turkish rule, nor they look at Turkey the way one would look at the mother.
So, he was speaking for the 44% of the population to say at most.
Yet, as the US and EU quickly explained - he won the elections (although truth be told Fikret Abdic, who became enemy of Izetbegovic won the election) and has a right to speak for all the citizens of Bosnia.
Soon after recognition he he applied (and received) for Bosnian membership in Organization of Islamic States. Again, against the will of the majority of population.
Bakir, at least speaks only for Muslims.

Don't you think that this helps to divide people just as much as Erdogan and his five-children colonisation plan for Bosnia?
Where is the figure who can bring the Slavs closer together again?
Turkey has indeed left a terrible legacy in the Balkans...as can be seen by the hundreds and hundreds of "colonist mosques" built all over Bosnia and Kosovo/Macedonia.

Communication is they key to every thing. This is the typical propaganda against serbs all over the world, you judge us before a trial. I understand that these complications as felt from bosnia is a hard one to crack for the continuation of relations between 2 countries that shear more then any country in the world. To stop living in war and focus on new political view a new chapter for the sake of all people. About turkey coming now to bosniaks that is true very true. But that is not bad we have serbia who got rusiia and china brazil and many more.
That is a sign that people from these countries actually dear to invest and its better for all people. Now that bosniaks want to break up republica srpska is not gonna happen since there wont be any voting about anything that bosniaks ask for if one voting that is to break up. So before you create more difficult stories just try to be good to eachother. Now lets hope that BiH can solve their problems inside their borders before they tell others how they should run their country.

"many Muslims see Erdogan as their leader, including Palestinians and Bosniaks":

Sure among 1,5 Billion of the Muslims there can be a couple of % of those who support the Eagle (Erdogan) but not more. I think BH is one of the most pro-Turkish places on this planet. Eagle can only dream of such a support in his homeland. Another place is Azerbaijan but this tandem is threatened by the developments in the Middle East. Some folks like Turkey in Central Asia and that’s almost all. As for the Palestinian support I am rather skeptical. Though they will love any country to spoil relations with Israel it changes little. First because we have two Palestines. Hamas is 100% on Iranian and Syrian side while Abu Mazl is losing ground even inside his own Fath movement.

Thus the discussed above statement is too optimistic. Turkey is a big Islamic state with multiple problems and rather little influence in the Islamic world. Arabs hate and fear and mistrust them. To say nothing of other neighbors like Iran , Kurdistan and Lebanon. They say Putin has warned Erdogan not to cross the Syrian border unless he is going to face Russia. So Bosniaks are a very small and a rare thematic Erdogan Fun Club. For a country with the final countdown already started we have to be merciful. And in the circumstances the Bosniaks have to kiss asses and smile to every passerby. So let them dream ! The hope dies the last …

It's really sad to see that 100 years after the 1st Balkan war when all christian nations of the Balkans allied in order to kick the Ottoman Empire out of the balkan peninsula, the neo-ottoman Turkey uses the muslim minorities and their insignificant leaders so as to get back to the Balkans. The Muslims of Bosnia should realise that they are Slavs and have nothing in common with the Turks and the aspirations of their neo-ottoman leaders that will crash in Syria.

Perhaps everyone should ignore Bekir and Erdogan until they admit to the Armenian Genocide. As for having five children, that's a Muslim trait to increase numbers and take over. Just look at what happened to Kosovo. By the way, I don't recall any help from Turkey during the Bosnian war. Follow Turkey and look like a turkey!

The only way to counter the influence of Turkey in the Balkans is for Serbia to forge a tight knit alliance with Israel. Here, we have a country that by default shares almost identical values with Serbia and has many of the same exact interests. Israel is truly concerned about the stability of the Balkan region and the key to any stability in the Balkans is of course the 10 million Serbs in the post Yugoslav space.

Joining the Eurasian Union is a no brainier for Serbia-militarily, economically and politically. But strengthening a relationship between the Serbs, Greeks and Israelis in the Balkans is essential to curb increasingly aggressive and hostile Edrogan.

This smacks of desperation by Bakir. He can say anything now the SDA is out of government (hallelujah!). They blocked all reasonable reforms when in government and now they seek to sabotage any others that they do not command. It will be interesting to see where the US and EU stand on this, whether they will not interfere or continue to support Bakir's failed policies.

Erdogan travels to Sarajevo and tells people to "have five children".
Putin backs the Serbs as part of his plan to divide the West and get Ossetia and Abkhazia for free.
Germany probably continues to back Croatia, the USA backs unworkable whole-Kosovo independence.

Maybe if the people on the ground would work out these arguments, they would kick out the foreign powers busy dividing them more and more from each other.

In any case, the possibility of any of these politicians having the stature to reach out to the other side is faint at best.

Well, if a political leader in Europe looks to Turkey for leadership, inspiration, whatever... well, I would call that both bad news and a sad affair.

Turkey is not really a democracy, right? What about right of independence for Kurdistan? I mean: if Kosovo then why not Kurdistan!
And what about Turkey occupying Northern Cyprus? What if Serbia or Croatia would occupy a part of Bosnia?

I am getting sick of this Balkan nonsense! Start living together, for peace's sake!!

Ignoring the irrelevant guff in this article and concentrating only on the final sentence, I am mildly amused that Izetbegovic believes that his withdrawal from politics would suffice should his 'criminal activities' be proven. The usual procedure in these circumstances is to go to prison!! He can join Dodik, Covic and the rest of them when the authorities summon up the guts to prosecute them.
