It's another triumph for corporatist America having two of its own candidates fighting it out on non-issues.

When Obama was elected there was some kind of euphoria sweeping the US on the expectations the new messiah will deliver on change and other fat promises he made.Four years on the number of people on food coupons has risen from 32 to 49 millions and sovereign debt from $9.6 to $16.3 trillion not to mention other indicators (inflation, unemployment)which have been clearly manipulated.

This time Obama started his campaign by playing off of the reactionary proposals of the Romney-Tea Party alliance in order to cover for his own record of unprecedented military spending, sequential wars,Gutanamo Bay, mortgage foreclosures and Wall Street bailouts.

Romney strikes me as someone who hasn't got the faintest idea what he'll do once in power.Unfortunately, and as the bodies of Iraqis,Afganis will confirm its usually the non-Americans who suffer most when the US elect an incompetent or extremist to the presidency.

The US will not survive another four years of Bush's policies as advocated by Romney. Iran is neither Iraq or Libya.A Romney presidency will end the US within his term.An Obama presidency will stretch things out with the help of helicopter Barnake but ultimately will end the same way as the old USSR.

Exactly Roger, you tell him. Can't he see that one is black and the other is white? It's more like Coke and Sprite.

Amazing comment!

You clearly are uninformed if you think these two are pretty much the same. Best you keep your nose in the UK.

The media are saying things are "neck and neck" but at least one well-respected statistician has repeatedly asserted in recent weeks that Obama's chances of winning the electoral college are 70-75%.

On a different topic, I somewhat agree with Ian's point about the lack of difference between the two candidates, but that has more to do with the fact that, in practice, their respective parties are slaves to special interests. Obama appears to at least care about setting the US on a different course than it was under George W Bush. Romney openly favors a return to Bush era policies, which, as I think most in the world would agree, were a complete disaster. Romney would also give harmful Tea Party-backed legislation a better chance of being codified to law, and that is certainly something America does not need.

No they are exactly the same, they only differ on what we in Europe consider to be "minor policies" and they present them to the American people as being major issues. They are also both centrists and popularists who will say anything if it gains them votes. Besides who ever wins the election will be taking orders from the Business World Elites, therefore it doesn't matter who wins; this is because the US is a corporatocracy and Business Giants are your real leaders.

And No I won't keep my nose out of it, because it is your country which keeps dragging my country into illegal wars!

I'm guessing you've never been to Europe (where we have real political variation), because if you had you would know what real socialist left wing politicians are like. Obama is in the centre of the political spectrum, at most he slightly sways towards the left, but always remains in the centre. But to refer to Obama as "socialist" is a joke! You need to stop watching Fox News, a so-called "News Channel" which would have you believe that Obama is Karl Marx reincarnated. You can't even compare Obama to left wing politics in Europe as they're so vastly different.

I agree with you on this point. I've lived my whole live with Democrat and Republican presidents and nothing has ever really changed. Regardless of whom is in office, the US government is the US government.

Who is going to win? Party A or Party B?

The suspense is killing me.

Voting between Romney and Obama is like voting between Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola. They're both pretty much the same!

In all homesty I hope Obama wins, as he is the lesser of two evils. In his next term he'll take NATO to war maybe once whereas Romney would probably take NATO to war two or more times. So basically I support Obama as he isn't as pro-War as Romney.
