We all know what Dacic is referring to and that is the issue of Kosovo.
He too is lying and here is why.
Dacic is saying that Serbian politicians have been lying to everyone because Serbia wants to be able to join the EU but without committing themselves to supporting full independence for Kosovo. The tactic is lets get in and then we'll see. This wont work because the EU is not run by naive idiots.
The EU is saying to Serbia you will not have to officially recognise Kosovo but you must recognise that Kosovo will never be part of Serbia again and let Kosovo manage their own affairs.
Nikolic is much more to the point by admitting that he will never let this happen. His bold words and unwaivering standpoint doesn't go down well in Brussels who are running out of patience.
Till now Brussels has been using the carrot and stick approach with Serbia. The carrot is membership to the EU, the stick is punishment for not recognising Kosovo as a sovereign state. The stick is getting longer and harder while the carrot gets smaller .
By winning the election in May, this government has just inherited the same conundrum as the previous government. Try to hang on to Kosovo and there will be no EU and no Kosovo. Recognise Kosovo as sovereign and the EU is within your grasp. All politicians in Serbia see this as a defeat and will have lost face. That is why this government will also keep on lying. Nobody wants to loose face.

I actually like what Mr. Dacic is doing. He’s taking a page out of EU politicians book. Tell them what they want to hear, and do what you have to do. European politicians have been doing this to Serbia all along.

The relations with the EU are better as ever: only Serbia doesnt get a date for talks, Serbia has to recognize Kosovo and is under pressure like no other country in Europe. Great realtions without any problems. I haver never seen a politician in the West, saying "we lie". Why his mum and dad had given him not more healthy food to grow like other boys.

Generally I believe that he will do anything to join the EU. But he has a finely tuned political compass - he can sense what is palatable to most of the Serbian people at any one time and his position changes accordingly. So in any particular time period if he believes he will lose support / votes he will change position. With different audiences he gives different positions, thought out in advance. This doesn't impress the EU which knows his contradictory positions.

..thats right with the sketch of Montty Python, but there you can relax, you know its only a sketch, but in Serbia people can not lough about Dacic & Co anymore while having nothing on the table...if you have ever seen for new year or other days how many many Serbs are buying food, so poor with a very little choclate for children....Serbia is no sketch or black humour, its a tragedy made by people without culture and education and feelings of solidarity for the person next

It's funny how much you guys misinterpret everything... The relationship is good between EU and Serbia and because there are a few problems or points that both sides do not agre on it doesnt mean that he is talking nonsense it means that the realtionship over all is good but there are a few points that need to be worked through. Kosovo will never be recognized and thats that. EU knows that and the serbs know that. To be honest with you from all the other presidents that serbia has had in the past I like this one the best.
