This is what happens when you're still living in the 90's Nikolic and most Serbs are obsessed with Kosova, they can't seem to move on at all. In addition to that they have not improved their country at all while trying to invest money in North Kosova to destabilize the newest country in the world.

It is not up to Nikolic to decide whether Kosovo will remain part of Serbia, it is up to the individuals in Kosovo. The simple reason being that Kosovo has been an autonomous state since 1971. Tito made that happen. Milosevic made double sure for Kosovars choosing to go independent by terrorizing the Albanian population there during the 1990's.
Nikolic is a sentimental old fool who is not in touch with reality and is forcing his opinion on a nation that desperately is seeking change. Lets face it Kosovo will never be returned to Serbia as it was. This the EU, America and other countries which have already recognized Kosovo will not allow.
So what are your options Nikolic? An other invasion? I don't think so.

Looks like, Tomislav. Nikolic in fact went to macedonia to stir the waters, & instigate new problems and conflicts!
As for, Albania Kosova, Inc. Just like, Serbia & R. Serbska=trying. 1 diff, Albania+Kosova=NATO's= Fact!!!

what is really funny is that while Mr. Nikolic is in Skopje, lecturing his Macedonian counterparts on Albanian irredentism and separatism, Macedonia & Kosova are to sign a cross-border financing agreement :-)

...and why on earth shouldn't we build highways to connect Prishtina with Durres? seriously what is this guy on about?

How can you give away something that is not yours?

Kosovo hasn't been apart of Sebria for years now.

It isn't a matter of giving Kosovo away, it is a matter of coming to terms and acceptance. It is almost like an abusive husband refusing to sign the divorce papers after a violent relationship telling his wife that he is sorry and that he still loves her despite the fact she moved on years ago.

Gary and Sasche,
With all due respect, I am fully aware of the geopolitical/economic/social impact a road has. But this doesn't necessary and automatically implies that when two countries are connected with a road they will merge. Come on! History teaches us that these major merge or split of countries occur only when the big powers agree to do so. My point is that the example used by Mr. Nikolic is just not relevant, that's all. Plus this road can be of an interest to Serbia as well. Nish is just 1 hour from Prishtina (as far as I know) therefore it can connect Serbia with this part of Adriatic as well. I have made my calculation and it is easier to go from Belgrade to Podgorica via KS-ALB then via the existing road, its at least 2-3 hours shorter. And please don't tell me its not safe as there are many trucks and cars with Serbian plates in Albania, at least during summer.

@Toni,

Infrastructure plays an important role in geopolitical games. The Pristina-Dyrrachion highway has a great political message.
A clear example was when Austria-Hungary had a trade agreement with Serbia, it presummed that Serbia should build roads and railroads only from north to south. Building them east-west would endanger Austrian-Hungarian interests in Bosnia-herzegovina. Such policies were resumed in communist Yugoslavia as well.

"How can you say they are entitled to a state in Kosovo, but not in Mecedonia, how can you say they have the right to a state in the territory of Kosovo, but not to autonomy in Greece or Montenegro," wondered Nikolić.

Many EU countries said that no new members may enter with ongoing issues or conflicts. Nevertheless, Cyprus joined while lacking the control of half of its territory. Spain and Portugal are still quareling over Olivenca, as are the United Kingdom and Spain over Gibraltar. Even EU member states have issues among themselves.

It would be wrong to set territorial conditions to Serbia when not all EU members have recognized Kosovo.

But for me the biggest issue is that on the one side Europe promotes integration and multiculturality, but on the other side encourages the segmentation of the Balkans. Serbs and Albanians should be encouraged to integrate together, without necessarily adjusting the borders as it has been done with the recognition of Kosovo.

Yugoslavia has proven itself to be a failed project, and I agree with mr. Nikolic taht any other form of union between the former Yugoslav states will be a failure.

Let's put it like this, if you guys could not keep living together in the former state, why would you want it now? So long have all of you strived for separate nations, try strengthening them by eliminating crime and corruption for a start.
On a regional level, cooperation is good but new unions would be an introduction to new bloodbaths.

Nikolic as person is only a joke and his comments aout Macedonia as independent country are very un-diplomatic and could be seen as interference in the internal affairs of the country. Wow, the bad Albanians...has Nikolic missed the news from his PM kissing Thacis shoes?
Nikolic will not be too long in his office, he lost the contact with the reality.
