Jovan, you were doing well and I thought you had seen the folly of your ways when you wrote, "...it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt".
But then you ruined it by continuing to foolishly speak.

sj,
The debt went from 120 trillion to 240 trillion over night, a huge feat for even you. I think you would win or come close on one of the "Survivor" reality shows as they would want to keep you around for a while to provide the entertainment as the tribe storyteller. You have a knack, one has to give you that.

Yes nasty sj for trying to frighten the Albanians with his stories about the huge US debt. I’m amazed you didn’t deny the official debt of 16.5 trillion so far – what happen there? Couldn’t hide it?

Nial Ferguson said, you do know who this guy is? (Harvard Professor of Economic History) “the total US unfunded liabilities is a mind blowing $238 trillion – that’s 16 times the total US debt claimed by US treasury”. I was being conservative in my quotes.

That’s right the US is taking sanctuary in Australia (first time since the 1940s) because the weather is great. One of Rupert Murdock papers had an article about the real US military situation – it said that the US government is not telling its people the truth and once this comes out “there could well be an armed revolution in the US”.

Diego Garica will be gone unless you can cut further into your social security budget so that more people are in poverty than you have already – choose which you like to have; social revolution at home or Diego Garcia.

Here is a bit of news for you. The South China Sea is next to China not somewhere near California so a great aircraft carrier fleet is not necessary. You might also have noticed that Taiwan is very quiet – ask why? Like mushrooms Washington keeps your lot in the dark and feeds you on BS.

Forget who gets elected as president becasue all you will get is more of the same.

@pss: it won´t take 500 years, I am sure of that. as for your reaction, "...it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt".

I personally think KiM´s future in the middle-term will b framed in the next 20 to 30 years. and given that the US are constantly losing grip, I think you should rather be worried about the"one and only global superpower" as one rather childish albanian once has put it.

but of course, you cannot admit that, even if you´d already understand it now.

and don´t worry, my dear k-albanian friends.. not that it is of any importance for the albanian cause, but let me assure you it is without any relevance whether the US keep Diego Garcia or not - the Chinese are expanding in asia anway.

but it is always good for an Albanian to have something to write about, when there is nothing relevant in regard to his own kin to report.

you know, if they are busy with acting as internet-warriors, they are spending less time with torching churches and beating elderly serb civilians.

Wow starting out the week on a high are we? What happened helen is a relatively new name and you think you can impress with your outlandish bs?
120 trillion in unfunded liabilities according to "how you calculate it" that is rich.
And the recent launching of Chinas first and only aircraft carrier has really given them the edge in the South China sea, nevermind that they do not have a single aircraft nor pilots that can land on the carrier and are probably 10 15 years away from it.
As far as Diego Garcia it is a crucial point in our activities in the middle east, and there is NO plans to abandon it.
I am sure that all the little country papers in Malaysia really love to publish things like not passing a budget in the US as some type of huge event, the thing is it is pre presidential election theatrics but it always passes at the last minute.
Maybe you just really need to stick with things you know like the price of eggs in Malaysia and leave world politics to people who actually have a clue, because you are not even close.

I’d agree with your comments but this is 2012 not 2000 as the situation has changed almost 360 degrees. The facts are that the main protagonists are either sailing on nothing in the tank or near enough that it does not matter.
The US is 17 trillion in debt with unfunded liabilities of anywhere from 115 to 120 trillion depending on how it’s calculated. If you recall the crises last year in the US senate Republicans failing to pass a bill to increase the deficit caused great consternation in that country simply in that if one trillion dollars was not borrowed then US military could not be paid nor military pensions or social security pensions. The US has lost control of the South China Sea and will leave Diego Garcia in about 2 years time.
The EU has bigger problems in that to survive it has to have a two tier membership system. Brussels had to go cap in hand to China and Russia to ask them to buy Euro bonds and the Germans went to Beijing to ask for a direct injection of money into the EU economy.
NATO is in the process of leaving Afghanistan with its tails between its legs defeated by people living in cave and mud huts. These are not the 1990s and not even Washington would dare to bomb Serbia again because they couldn’t do it – NATO as a battle group is dead. Once it leaves Afghanistan it will break up.
The current Serbian Government is a product of Moscow.
These talks are just that talks that will lead to know where.

@ sj: Serbia has like all other countries interests and means to realize these interests...Serbia means are not too large, but if you are giving away this early without getting something, the other side will block all offers and wait under the pressure from the NATO-friends for a weaker and weaker Serbia, ready to give away everything. The Serbs rejected once the NATO-proposals before the bombing. Today (and this says a lot about Dacic´s historic "thinking) these old proposals would be acceptable. It was very bitter and hard for the Germans to accept after WWI the relevant peace treaties, but Serbia is doing this with joy, what normal people would not do. If you kick them in the ass, they are saying "thanks". It can happen that a country can not realize its plans. But to have no plans and ideas like Serbia, is a crime and gainst any constitution in the world. There is no doubt that Serbia will change his constitution to find some cheap positive words from the West. Serbia has now as EU-candidate to follow the foreign policy of the EU. This will bring Serbia automatically in the next years more an more in confrontation in many cases with Russia and also China. The links with these contries will be weaker. Serbias new "friend" the Emirates were one of the closest allies of the USA against Serbia in BiH and Kosovo. Serbia is sailing in the politics like a drunken sailor.

Curiosityxhasxlanded

pre 11 godina

Despite the eurozone problems and US elections it seems that both EU and USA has moved more strongly in the WB in the past couple of months. One can notice a stronger stance: more pressure for dialogue in the Macedonian name dispute,in Bosnia for a new constitution, and in Kosovo for a possible permanent solution.

If i have read the public discourse right it appears that EU will push for autonomy in the north and a Serbian recognition (Kos gov will most probably accept). However if the Serb gov holds its ground for Kosovo's partition and Kos gov does the same against it, than it is probable that there will be some suggestions about a border adjustment with part of the north going to Serbia and part of Presevo valley going to Kosovo (note that this will be not rigid as it currently stands). Serb gov have more than once spoken of a historical agreement between Albanians and Serbs and the chances are that we may very well be witnessing such a process.

However we can only speak in probabilities here and of course i am taking into account only respective gov stances and public discourse, that of the EU and international analysis reports. I am not building any thoughts on nationalists self-indulging, empty and out of reality rhetoric's (quite a few I've noticed fulfill the criteria).

Again, just to make clear this are probabilities based on ifs, it yet remains to be seen how it will end up. It might quite well be, that at the end, we could face a frozen conflict.

You 100% correct about Ashton. In fact most of the western diplomats are a joke. The EU is in no position to do much as its battling an even worse scenario of its own making – financial nightmare and in reality they can offer nothing to Belgrade.
International newspapers are just that international windbags – there is an old saying that goes “today’s headlines tomorrow fish and chip wrapping. It speculation on a gross scale. Of course had this occurred prior to 2007 GFC this would have been a different situation as it had the money, but like most westerners they spent too much time gloating over their fabulous win over Belgrade
You see there is a problem in that it does not suit Moscow’s interests to have Kosovo settled in the Albanians favor nor does it want Kosovo settled.
If the west could not achieve their goals up until now I’ll give you $17 trillion reasons why these talks will lead to nowhere as they go around and around in circles. Status Quo year 13 going onto year 14.

EU/Ashton as "mediator" is a joke. EU is a partner of Pristina like in the first talks about "technical questions". International newspapers are reporting that the EU and USA will now very present to the Serbs draft agreements. Its normal in such negotiations, who is making the draft is writing more or less the content of the agreements. It will be, in which form ever, recognition of the government in Pristina. You can expect also the exchange of "Permanent Missions" under the UN-codex for diplomatic relations. The EU is demnading, not to block mor Kosovo internationally. This means UN-admission, FIFA etc. At the end of Dacic´s "historic" dreams, the majority of the Serbs will leave Kosovo. The Serb property in Kosovo will be legally in Albanian hands. The Serbs will get possbly a date to held EU-membership negotiations. These negotiations are result-open. Sebria will become an EU-member together with Kosovo, Albania, BiH. It seems, this will not happen in the next 20 years.

Dacic: "We are thinking about the final solution. It is time for a historic agreement."

I dont know how long Dacic was in a school, but to call events beore they happen to call "historic" shows a very little knowledge of history at all. Historic would mean to prepare in houndreds of secret meeting (like the huge number of talks in Warsaw between China and USA during the Cold War) a real balance of interests and following agreements and top-level meetings. Nixon and Mao had never met before they had not on the working-level these many many contacts. Dacic has no dignity to make such a "joke", that he could arrest Thaci, but he will not do so with respect of the EU and Ashton. Dacic is giving some Serbian "ragets" which are only the CONDITIONS by the EU, by people, who have only a small knowledge about the situation on the ground. Serbia was and is not able to present an easy and clear catalogue in the Kosovo-question. To say, the capitulatio is only to make the daily life of the people there better is a bad joke. Historic are the real and hidden targets of the Albanians. They will have only one result of the coming meetings: to become an UN-member. After this the relations with Serbs have no more importance.

But, in my opinionin, during the 1-2 last years of Tadic and now with your new governement, Serbian politics has lost its clarity and coherence, letting the kosovars take the upper hand. Clearly, i don't believe Thaci and his governement has the capacity of winning a diplomatic battle with Belgrade even now, but with the international aide, Prishtina is winning a small battle after an other and soon, some important deal will be done, probably in favour of "indipendent" Kosovo.

I think partition is on its way, or something like Cyprus split into two parts. And to the Albanians out there, this has nothing to do with a so called exchange of territory, since of course you own no territory formally.

Living in Tirana, for years i have greatly valuated as a great diplomat your ex-Foreign Minister, Vuk Jeremic. And for years i believed Belgrade was orchestrating a very intelligent political and international manouver towards Kosovo. Tell me if i am wrong, but which was the point of meeting the leader of the state you dont recognise. I doesn't have logic and seems to me, that Dacic doensn't know what to do next.....

Steve

pre 11 godina

Let me tell you this. Serbia will not join the EU and its current leadership that policy is becoming more evident by the day.

Helen

pre 11 godina
