Asked whether there were any hints he might meet with Thaci, Nikolić recalled that he recently in New York left a reception "at the EU embassy premises" once he heard the Kosovo Albanian prime minister was there, and also told EU's Catherine Ashton that he was "surprised by his presence, because chiefs of delegations had been invited".

You were well aware that US President OBAMA invited all heads of states for a dinner. Now , you make it sound like you were not aware that Thaci will be there!

Kosovo US, please let us stop playing this game of a sovereign KiM, it is not. It is still Serbia's southern province, till further notice. As an equal partner thy can do what they want. Even avoid Kosovo for brownie nationalist points.

The Serbian government is responsible for creating policy. It is therefore natural that the Prime Minister, is the main negotiator.

As far as the USA is concerned, as well as most of the other powerful countries of the world, Kosovo is an independent state. When Thaci is invited to a party by Obama, he is being invited as a head of state.

Serbia does not have to recognize Kosovo (though for its own good, it really should), but Serbia cannot stop others from doing so. For those countries that have already recognized Kosovo, status is settled.
