OMG when this violence, cruelty and disrespect to the others will stop ???!!! it seems to me it´s getting worse and worse all over the world. Vandalism is allways very bad - but acting so disrepectly, very badly on the places like cemeteries where EVERYBODY has to keep silence and respect for whose passed away - THIS IS THE VANDALISM OF MOST IMPORTANT DANGER, full of hate and that makes me cry....WHY??? it´s a matter of fact some acting like this is not meant so badly in reality - I mean some aggresive teenagers who damage all and whatever - but even THIS is horrible cause it´s a fault of parents and also the society where they are educated...I feel deep compassion with Serbian people being Slavic too and having many friends there...Let peace will gain the victory over hate, suffering and distress in this beloved country. Many great hugs to all my Serbian friends - Boban, Radenko and the others....Natali

Maybe it has to hit home for either party to do something. They all vent their angers and frustrations but no one comes up with ideas of how to solve an issue. How hard would it be for Serbs to gather some money and hire someone to maintain these cemeteries? You mean that all you can do is beat your chests and say your patriots but when it comes to raising some funds and hiring an individual to take care of cemeteries is that hard. Forget about hiring someone how about taking a day trip and cleaning up some of these forgotten cemeteries. Bring some flowers as well.

This is the progress of the two ethnic groups (assuming but not true): Albanians destroy tombstones while Serbs are more civil and just piss on them!

Can anyone tell me the difference and who's better between the two groups?

Amazing. All you read from Albanians in this comment section is shameful barbaric things. This is why the world sees you people how they do. I was in Italy for work and they consider Albanians the cancer of Europe. You people have no shame, and will always be the savages you've been raised to be.

Continued....
kids in the US have been tagging, breaking, desecrating, and destroying graveyards. It's nothing new. My call to action was for Serbs to not cry about it but to do something about it. One way is take upon yourselves to create a proper fence (iron bar fence) and go clean up some of these graveyards so they are not forgotten. Doesn't matter it were a Serb cemetery or an Albanian one in whatever city you mentioned. Graveyards should be respected period. The initiative should be by the people and then by govt. and since you bash the Kosovo/a institutions it is logical to create a nonprofit organization for the upkeep of cemeteries to suit your needs and those of Serbians. And you still don't consider this a good idea but you are bashing me or my blood line like I'm taking sides when I'm offering a solution where no one would object to such a solution. I'm the only person thus far in this string that has offered a simple solution to the issue.

My take is most like 99% like yours Peggy when it comes to cemeteries. And in my opening statement I did say that everyone should condemn such an act. I am definitely not trying to find an excuse. The action is appalling. And let me make clear: I condemn such actions and I am not making excuses for it. To answer the other person when I said kids you do know the majority of the population is under 25 and a large chunk is under 18? And no one knows who the perpetrators are. Your focus should be on getting the authorities to do their job and not my comment. Continued....

One of you said there was a gate and a partial fence. If it was abandoned do you honestly think the fence and gate were in proper working condition? It was probably dilapidated. The fence was not an iron fence but probably chicken wire or barbed wire. My statement did say that abandoned cemeteries are taken care of by the city where they are in. That means taxpayers fund the projects. So that means albanians and Serbs would have to pay for it. If they're insufficient funding a solution is to have Serbs create a fund to help these cemeteries to be maintained. Why do you rely on govt. or authorities so much? Take action yourself.

(Kiko, 7 October 2012 19:00)

Sorry, did you read the article at all? There has been a gate, but it was removed. Half of the fence was 'missing' (i.e. was destroyed). So do you think these 'playing Albanian kids' could be stopped by a fence? In a 'country' where the the police is incompetent and unwilling to investigate in committed crimes or is even tolerating and indirectly supporting those acts by letting the perpetrators go unpunished, I don't wonder that these things happen again and again. And yes, we all know that it's only playing kids who desecrate churches, stone Serbian cars, tents and buses, and so on...

Kiko, in a civilized society there is no need to donate to protect the graves.
What is your take on Albanian graves in Serbia? Should Albanians have to donate to built fences there or do you think Alanian graves there are safe enough?
Why do you find excuses for such abhorant behaviour? What normal people keep vandalizing graves constantly?
Now I aks you to answer. Do you have no harsh words of condemnation for this? Looks like the Albanian blood in you has contaminated the Serbian blood in you.

Kiko

pre 11 godina

The desecration of tomb stones is sad and should be condoned by all parties. And those ppl that committed such a heinous act should be caught and punished to the full extent of the law.

Some of you have mentioned the US and their cemeteries. Most cemeteries in the US are like businesses and there is always someone taking care of the cemetery. Even the abandoned ones are taken care of by the cities they are in. As the decades have passed in the US cemeteries have erected metal fences 6-8 ft tall to surround the cemeteries. The reason for this is bc younger kids have no respect for them. Don't take my word just google desecration of cemeteries and you'll see numerous articles in the past 10 years. It's a trend and the cemeteries have implementation plans to prevent such incidents. In the past there was no need for such fences but today there is bc kids do destroy things. Now I don't know if the perpetrator(s) were kids nor defending them. My point is that there is a trend everywhere that respect for the dead is not the same and is not isolated in Kosovo/a only. It happens everywhere.

If Serbs can't get together and raise some money via a fundraising campaign to fence in these cemeteries then all you here are just talkers and full of BS. It's easy to condemn but what are you doing to solve the problem? I'd donate to fence in the cemeteries and I'm sure no politician would not object to permits to properly fence in these cemeteries. Albanians hate Serbs and vice-versa , how do u think albanians would welcome serbs when their homeland (serbia) is the no1 reason for all their problems they`re going through , serbia was always a problem for albanians and it`s still not changing its attitude , don`t expect them to welcome serbs warmly with open arms even though these actions are not justified under any circumstances. Serbs are no better they recently damaged the Kosovo consulate symbols in Germany.

Destruction of a religious site, church or desecration of a grave site is the lowest of the low in terms of evolution. There is no excuse for it at all and any person or group who condones this is barbaric and primitive.

I have read the above comment by 'one question' and all I can say is shame on you, there are many places throughout the world with abandoned graveyards or churches and they are not destroyed, damaged or used as a dumping ground, your comment is another example of someone making a poor excuse for sectarianism by Kosovo Albanians. And yes, we all know that it's only playing kids who desecrate churches, stone Serbian cars, tents and buses, and so on...

Reading through the comments of the usual dimwitted suspects of the Gastarbejter diaspora, you're looking for logic and reason among a pack of village idiots who would scream bloody murder, racism, and genocide if this happened in the Albanian cemetery of northern Mitrovica which since 1999 has remained untouched and undefiled.
