I would like to make the bizzare, for me anyway, statement. That I am in total agreement with BGanon. You can not bloke democratic principles to bow down to bullies. We should not bow down to bullies in Brussels, nor should we bow down to hooligans who would burn down our capital just to hurt a bunch of weirdos who want to parade.

"Those black students wanted to study, while these gay people want to walk along the streets with naked a****. Would you like your children to watch their a****?"

No, not that, because that obviously is not the central point of what the ACTUAL issue is,which is their CIVIL rights. The issue is not them walking naked,or letting anyone walk naked down the street,is the following:

.Right to marry in recognized civil unions
.Right to adopt children
.Open service in the military
.laws against discrimination

and such...

LAZAR D

WOW... and you say i am ignorant, you really did not listen to anything I said.

First ,gays are not animals, they are people,so they have the right to marry.marriage IS a right to be handed out to people.Marriage,in a civil sense, means a bond between two people within a civil union.

"healthily heterosexual"?.Dude,if they are gay,its not because they are mentally ill,its because they are gay!Scientists have found out all over the world that being gay is not a mental disease.

"Gays cannot raise children properly, two people of the same sex cannot produce children biologically, so allowing them to raise one is just wrong".Whether they are suitable should not be based on their sexual orientation.Scientists and neurologists have found out that homosexuals not more likely to abuse children,so whats you point?oh yeah you don't have one.

Neoliberal economics has nothing to do directly with enhancing your gay bias conspiracy, its mainly busy with putting the ruling classes over the working class, creating social unrest and out of that come far right scum like yourself. In fact neoconservatism which often goes along with neoliberalism is a right wing ideology that PERSEQUETES homosexuals.Considering that France was one of the first countries to decriminalize homosexuality in the 1790's,it kind of got off a bit before neoliberalism, don't you think?

You are truly the dumbest right-tard I have ever had the pleasure of educating,if only education did not consume SO much energy.

No so sure if it is so different: Dacic argues like it should be forbidden in Serbia as well because 'the majority is against it'. He's only hiding behind 'security reasons' I think, and it might be that he doesn't want to upset the extremists and hooligan groups (who are said to be friends and supporters of him).

Slowdown

pre 11 godina

Yeah, slowdown all. This is a reasonable, and expected result to such a question in Serbia. However, this has no implication on rights to exist, live, love, vote and be a citizen. This is not like the sufferage movements, and is frankly insulting in comparison. This is not about such a basic of life such as gender or race, but rather a lifestyle. No need to debate choice or predestined. It is still about a lifestyle, and not about it's existence bit it's parading. Furthermore it is a policitally motivated parade. Yes the group would prefer they were fully excepted, but parading will not chance that. Does every fringe group deserve a parade simply because they're a minority? Take pride in yourself. Take modesty in yourself. Live life without a need for others' approval and it will be a happier life.

You should really read up on the history of marriage as an institution. A hint, it didn't start with religion. Religious leaders just hijacked it, along with their version of 'morality', to extend their control over the illiterate masses. It is the 21st century my brother. Enlighten yourself.

The right to marriage isn't a right that can be handed out to anyone, its an istitution that has evolved over centuries with religious guidance. You can't allow gays to marry, just like you can't allow people to marry animals, nobody has the right to alter the institution that is marriage. With regards to adoption, not even every man and woman can adopt so freely, they have to be deemed to be suitable to raise children. Gays cannot raise children properly, two people of the same sex cannot produce children biologically, so allowing them to raise one is just wrong. The vast majority of children are born healthily heterosexual, a heterosexual child raised by gays is completely selfish by gay people just because of their stubborn nature to try and prove they are the same as a heterosexual couple, they are not. The fact we are having this conversation is ridiculous.

Oh and on a side not, the globalist capitalist economy that you hate so much is very supportive of gay rights and plays a part in helping spread gay rights to countries that don't want it, another reason why you are such a hypocrite.

How about we also focus on and question the western backed neo-liberal politics that is also destroying Serbia, something you are so fond of. What you are basic ally arguing for is the rule of the minority, your idea of democracy is quite twisted. You come on here as some sort of democratic crusader, yet you are arguing for minority superiority. But then again people with similar voices are such hypocrites, you criticise dictatorships because they don't listen to the majority calls and repress them with police and so on, but this is all to your own selfish judgement as to what policies you see acceptable, because when we see a government listening to the majority you don't like it, because it is listening to a majority which disagrees with you. There is nothing democratic about you so called self proclaimed liberals, huge hypocrites who use the word 'democracy' to suit themselves whenever most necessary.

And 85% of citizens are against paying taxes (100% in the building where my father-in-law lives). Goodbye taxes. Hooray!

The backwood Serbs don't understand that question is not about gays or lesbians but about civil rights written into constitution. They go and breach the constitution and celebrate. They go and breach human rights and celebrate. Darkness reigns over these people. If it was up to them to "know", the Earth would still be flat.

And threatning with violence is OK.

We don't need to speak anything about crime in Kosovo. Serbia officially admits that criminals rule Serbia. Congratulations.

So what? Muslim countries have chosen an own version of 'human rights' which is compatible with their ideology and Sharia laws and where females and believers of other faith are not equal.

So why doesn't Serbia adopt an own kind of human rights declarations which stets that gay people are not equal and don't have the right of free assembly? At least this would be honest, so everybody can see what kind of country Serbia is. I'm sure big brother Russia would gladly join this kind of 'universal human rights'.

So allow me to give everyone a little lesson in reality; There exists in a democracy things called "rights" and "issues".Rights are innaliable.they are given to eveyone.Ever since the French revolution ,things such as marriage and adoption of children were constituted as civil unions managable by the state and not strictly by the church.Issues can be discussed freely because they are practical matters such as economics, politics in general, foreign policy, corruption, logistics and so on.So all in all it does not matter if 80 percent of Serbia or more disagrees with this,in a democratic society, everyone is entitled to their rights.

Nice for Ivica to make numbers up as he goes along! Let me put out a more realistic statistic of my own - 99.99% of Serbian citizens would not take part in any violence upon parade participants.

So because of the risk of less than 0.01% of the population would take to the streets to smash up Belgrade and carry out violence, the right to assembly is cancelled? Well that sounds democratic and reasonable doesn't it?

And how can I be sure of this statistic - easy look at the population of Serbia and look at how many hooligans took part in previous years in the anti parade 'protest'.

At least this would be honest, so everybody can see what kind of country Serbia is. I'm sure big brother Russia would gladly join this kind of 'universal human rights'.

Thank you, ????, for taking the time to share your racist views. However, your remarks don't add anything to the point that democracy isn't the same thing as mob rule.

I'm sure the people of Belgrade feel safer now...

The idea that rights cannot be taken away from people is not "twisted" in any way.Giving people the right to marry, adopt children and have other rights denied to them is not "minority rule".They are not taking away YOUR right to do what i have just described.I like a government listening to the majority of people when it comes to issues:the things which ARE to be discussed.Rights such as someones right to Marry, vote, adopt children and participate regardless of their race, gender, political affiliation, sexual orientation or class.

Now,you can continue to live in this deluded right wing fantasy, that homosexuals are part in some way of some grand conspiracy to destroy our morals. The real problem is this failure of a crony capitalist economic and political system,at the helm of which ere the NATO stooges we so despise. One of reactions in Serbia ,as in all over the rise of fascism and the far right in the form of DVERI,the front national,Geert Wilders,Golden dawn and other monstrosities. So please understand when I say no thanks for replacing one extreme, with another.

I think you are the last one to call me a hypocrite considering that even though I hate Dveri I would by no means like them to be banned ,while you at the same time act as a cheerleader for democracy, would not even grant these people some of the basic rights you yourself have. That,SCP ,is hypocracy.

You should really read up on the history of marriage as an institution. A hint, it didn't start with religion. Religious leaders just hijacked it, along with their version of 'morality', to extend their control over the illiterate masses. It is the 21st century my brother. Enlighten yourself.

"Democracy" isn't a polite word for mob rule. Without enforcing the rule law and constitutionally-enshrined rights, you have a failed state.

In 1957, the USA forced the state of Arkansas in the USA to stop forbidding black students from accessing any public schools. This was against the wishes of the vast majority of the people in Arkansas.

6 students (children) - SIX were given an escort of 1200 troops to escort and protect them in school and 10 000 troops where mobilized from the Arkansas National Guard and transferred to the federal government.

This all was at great expense and against the vast majority of the population.

"the majority are against it", when it comes to basic rights, doesn't cut it in democracy.
(Danilo, 6 October 2012 14:14)

Yes thank goodness those blacks were allowed to go to school and better themselves and contribute to society instead of being out in the streets selling drugs, robbing/shooting people and ending up in jail. Oh wait.

Let's be clear here. Events like this parade cannot be held in countries like in the Middle East or China because it is forbidden. Those governments openly and directly say that. Serbia on the other hand did not forbid the parade because it was generally forbidden but because it feared nationalistic and fundamentalistic fanatics. Belgrade is simply impotent to keep the streets peaceful. That are two completly different things.

-Just like to finish that line and say what i meant too say:

"...cannot be changed by the whim of the majority."

Slowdown

pre 11 godina

Those black students wanted to study, while these gay people want to walk along the streets with naked a****. Would you like your children to watch their a****?

LAZAR D

WOW... and you say i am ignorant, you really did not listen to anything I said.

"Those black students wanted to study, while these gay people want to walk along the streets with naked a****. Would you like your children to watch their a****?"

No, not that, because that obviously is not the central point of what the ACTUAL issue is,which is their CIVIL rights. The issue is not them walking naked,or letting anyone walk naked down the street,is the following:

.Right to marry in recognized civil unions
.Right to adopt children
.Open service in the military
.laws against discrimination

and such...
