Fortunately countries such as Austria or Germany still have a strong economy. And who needs a mandate by the UN? The west was easily able to liberate Kosovo without one.
(Hans, 2 October 2012 10:29)

Then why don’t they liberate Syria? What are they waiting for? This is not 1999, but 2012.

Germany is in a recession now and the Austrians are not much better so your local economy is not that good. Yes it better than the others in the EU but if the majority is sinking it will not take to long for Germany to start feeling the pain because if you cant sell your produce your manufacturing starts to grind to a halt.

Its ironic that the Serbs nationalists in 2012 here are saying that BiH is a failed project and looking to secede whereas 20 years ago their Croatian and Bosnian counterparts were saying the same thing about Yugoslavia being a failed project and also looking to secede.

Swings and roundabouts and all that.

Dodik needs to deliver the final blow and secede Republika Srpska, I don't know what he is waiting for. RS would be in a stronger position if it left because it would leave the Muslims and Croats fighting over the cantons of the Federation that they jointly administrate. Dodik needs to grow a pair, stop with the rhetoric and apply action.
(SCP UK, 1 October 2012 12:47)

Well because he cant. RS is an economic basket case and unfeasible to exist independently political and economical. It would not be able to function for long without it being tied to a bigger state. Serbia is not in a good shape either and would not be in a position to take in more mouths to feed. The government has enough problems to deal with. Secondly, RS would face military action and the West would send in the troops as an RS seceding would be in violation of the Dayton Accords.

But then again, you dont live in Serbia to know how tough it is for the rest of us each day to live, work and use most of your salary to pay the bills, support my siblings (have 1 sister in college, my brother who is now working part time and my parents who depend on the state pension) as well as running a car and send money to my relatives in Kosovo. I wish I lived in the UK, had a cushy job, nice pad, UK passport, be able to travel alot, all backed by a generous welfare state and post keyboard warrior stuff. Dude its time to get real and join the real world. expats are about as plugged into reality as the man on the Moon.

Judging by RS's relatively lower pensions to the Federation and the irregular payments of their war pensioners along with the emerging horror story of releasing raw sewerage into the river systems then Dodik's smoke and mirror rhetoric is losing puff by the bluff.

As for the rampant nonsense of Bosniaks are all Turks or that there is some Bosniak myth of victimisation or that Bosnians want to position themselves in the Islamic world or that eastern investors in Bosnia outrank western such is the consequence of RS' shady politics and the myopia of its spin doctors. Loud arrogance always attracts dumb ignorance.

Bosnia must remain a single country. If everything else fails, the west will send its troops once again.
(Hans, 1 October 2012 06:57)

The days of wine and roses are long over mate. It would take a fresh UN mandate because the old one has expired and as you see in Syria it would not get past the UN security Council. Plus who is going to pay for thee new troops? NATO is reducing its presence in Kosovo because of financial problems in individual member countries.
Whilst ever the EU hands over money to RS no worries, but as soon as it dries up then bye bye birdy.

This is the 21 Century not the late 20 century.

Hey, Bosnia and Hertzegovina falling apart, so is the rest of Europe and it's going to get worse.

People talk of war and invading here there and everywhere. Let me tell the folks like BUB BUM and Company, the day is coming when you are going to have to find a crust of bread to try and survive, war will be the furthest thing away from your mind and if war should come then let it come and hopefully people like you will be the ones to go first.

You and your kind are the cancer of this world and that is what the problem is. People like you guys are the rot which needs to be cut out so decent folks can live together in peace, while your kind exist that is not going to happen.

Surrounded by whom? Croatia? What is your lot waiting for? Crush RS if you can. Like most fanatical Croats, all piss and wind – would be if they could be.
I believe that Dodik is well aware that Croatia closes its bases over the winter period so he will be careful to give enough advance notice so your lot can save enough for fuel and food for the invasion.
AS they say, meanwhile back at the ranch the Bosniaks are very busy pushing their allies, the Croats, out of Bosnia.

Your heart's in the right place, Mick, but if Serbs, Croats and Muslims can live together in peace in Bosnia, why not in Yugoslavia?

Few people seem to see this contradiction which, in my view, clearly exposes the truth about the outside agenda for the destruction of Yugoslavia in the first place.

The words "one week before local elections" is missing from this headline. The SDS and PDP made gains in the last national election(albeit the SNSD still won comfortably) and Dodik needs to deflect attention away from the appalling state of the economy and the fact that pensioners and others have recently taken to the streets to protest. Nothing attracts voters more than a bit of muslim bashing dressed up as comments about BiH. Surely the avoidance of another Srebrenica, the subject of Izetbegovic's comments at the UN, would be a good thing or have I missed something? Bakir makes plenty of daft comments but this wasn't one of them.

Yes of course the project is failing..who wants to live with these sunni muslims in the heart of Europe? Certainly not us Serbs, not even the nazi croats. Yes Dodik..we all agree..and no one wants a future, esp with izetbegovic leading the way..get outta here! I agree with Zoran.
Bosnia has to join with Serbia!
Bosnians fought for years in order to join Serbia 19th C Bosnian/Herzegovina rebellions, it was unfortunate that it did not happen until 1918. The great powers took Bosnia from the Turks and gave it to Austria in 1878. And now in the 90s they where again meddling in de Balkans and tried to make a Islamic state, which in fact is a broken state...

But first things first and that is for the Bosnian people to realize that they are the same people and not some bosniaks and croats.
Because I know that Muslim Bosnians of the 19th C were nothing else but Serbs (in the census they were Turks because all Muslims were Turks in the Ottoman empire), And Croats did not live in Bosnia according to Croatian intellectuals...

One day this mess will end, and that will be when we unite!

This is only a natural process. Where is our Herzegovinan LGBT organizer Lenard to tell us how RS doesn't actually exist. It's only "wicked" and "fictitious"....yeah, the representatives of Serbs, Muslims and Croats did not actually sign Republika Srpska into existence, it never happened.

That is the only way Lenard will feel better about coping with reality.

Anyway, Bosniaks would be better off with this split. They could brand itself as Islam's outlet to the rest of Europe (as sad as that is) and market itself to Qatar, Turkey, UAE and Saudi Arabia, which are rich countries. A lot of investments can come their way if they are an Islamic Bosnia. That is what Izetbegovic wanted originally. Fine, but not with the current borders its demographically impossible.

Or, no investments come from those countries except for sending more Mujahadeen and building more Mosques, even further radicalizing the Bosniaks. Lets hope its not that.

Regardless 50% of the population can't be held hostage so that the Bosniaks can continue this false sense of collective victimization for the wars of the 90;s.

It is a failed western idea; one of many such as Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and so it goes on and on. You’d think the Washington knuckle heads would get tired of it

Zoran

Oh, I forgot to mention BiH, another failing western project. The best result here would be for the whole country to reunite with Serbia along with Montenegro and FYROM. I'd say the EU will be involved in another ethnic cleansing campaign but this time completely unintentional.

RS would be in a stronger position if it left because it would leave the Muslims and Croats fighting over the cantons of the Federation that they jointly administrate. Dodik needs to grow a pair, stop with the rhetoric and apply action.

I think that either an election is coming up, or that some bosniaks are pissing off Dodik. When that happens, dodik makes such statements. He's a quazinationalist, always has been one. But still, I welcome what he has to say, it's nice to hear that. But, in history anything can happen...

Dodo.....Just remember one thing, your beloved RS is surrounded and can be crushed within 24 hours. The people of BiH are getting sick of your political games. If the Serbs aren't happy in BiH they can cross the Drina river and reside where they originally came from.

'But first things first and that is for the Bosnian people to realize that they are the same people and not some bosniaks and croats.'

B & H dissolving mearly weakens the region which gives the west more power and provides an opportunity for a select few to profit off the chaos. Same story different time.

Bosnia must remain a single country. If everything else fails, the west will send its troops once again.
(Hans, 1 October 2012 06:57)

Why don't you germans come instead? Or do you germans prefer to pay for your mistakes instead? You helped make the mess in the first place. Sarajevo now has a new loan from the IMF for 400m.

He has been saying this for years and nothing happens. Makes you wonder if he says it just to shake money out of stupid western governments for himself.

Fortunately countries such as Austria or Germany still have a strong economy. And who needs a mandate by the UN? The west was easily able to liberate Kosovo without one.
