You are right Willi, Milosevic's era is coming back although the last one was poorly timed. Now we have a strong Russia, Putin, a strong China and a failing West bogged up in too many wars. We have the Arab/Muslim world strongly against the US and support for their projects failing (eg. "Kosova"*, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Syria).

So it is good to hear the EU doesn't need Serbia as dealing with any resistance should then be low on their agenda. However, the EU should be prepared to lose a big chunk of their influence most likely resulting in members exiting.

The European Union (i.e the Fourth Reich) will meet the same fate as the Soviet Union. Germany is simply not responsible enough to control it and your attitude demonstrates that perfectly.

I like what I'm hearing and Nikolic is on record for making many similar comments recently. I like the reaction of many anti-Serb commentators as they seem agitated. Ashton recently announced that Nikolic must prepare for some difficult decisions. Now simply following the EU line, as sell-out Tadic did, was not difficult at all. In fact it was completely limp and spineless.

Now a difficult decision is to stick your middle finger up at Germany, which is what Nikolic seems to be doing. He is demanding respect for Serbia as otherwise no one would. These are all good signs and lets hope they are genuine.

Yes, we certainly have many friends. As I observe the geopolitical situation evolve, a pattern is definitely emerging. The Ukraine booted out their pro-Western government some time ago. There is a strong indication Georgia will follow come Monday. Serbia recently did the same and although I think we have some time to go, I am surprised at how quickly this cycle has come about.

So the time is coming to consolidate the new reality. The West is definitely weakening. Protests are increasing and people are becoming more and more disillusioned. Good for Nikolic for standing up for Serbia. He just needs to follow through.

Lets get things into perspective. Poverty in Serbia has nothing to do with 'running' to be an EU member. The EU has pumped more than 1 billion into Serbia over the last ten years, not in loans like Russia but in donations. Poverty has more to do with mismanagement and corruption than with the desire to be part of the EU, Serbia's biggest trading partner after all. Then, who is queuing to COMPETE to help Serbia? name one.
What about helping ourselves?? What is this all about. Of course Serbia should help itself but this isn't happening as long as the only thing on the government's agenda is Kosovo. And how does Nikolic propose to take it back? By force? An other war? By talks? Good luck Mr President. Since it seems you have all the answers let's hear one that makes sense and one that actually puts bread on the table.

Finally, some very good news! I am very glad to hear the Serbian president say this, it means there is a sea change in Serbian politics. This statement is basicaly the same as showing the Germans the middle finger, I like it. We need more of this, now Nikolic needs to follow through with actions. No more sycophant Tadic-like subservient behaviour, no more behaving like an abused wife who goes back for more punishment, grab a backbone and send Serbia in the right direction, stronger alliances with true friends and the middle finger for countries that say they are 'friends' but do everything in their power to destroy Serbia.

The luxurious palace is apparently the EU and the terminally ill man would be Serbia without KiM. As for the EU not rushing to get Serbia in, well that is great news as we are certainly in no rush to enter. However, "Kosova"* is waiting very impatiently in queue behind us, so:

Everyone knows that this "we are not in a hurry" is just a big dog pile. Those contradicting statements which you correctly point out are good examples for that. Serbia's economic situation is so devastating that the last thing what Belgrade needs is a conflict with EU. Nikolic and Co. know that noone can make it up for them since the EU market is the only market where Serbia can come out from the negative export trade, which comes especially because of those countries such as Russia and China (what a coincidence).

But wait in a few months when Serbia's debt ratio crosses the 60% line and see who will suddenly see that he is in a hurry and running like hell. He should actually pray that the VISA free regime with EU stays active.

I have never come across a major project such as South Stream that is as you say “….. supply is not determined”. You don’t spend billions then say Ho hum that’s wrong I’ll do something else. South Stream is not a short term project. South stream will be operative in the Balkans by 2014. The Russians did not win the energy wars over the US for nothing.

You are a bit much mate. So far the final determination of where South Stream is going to supply is not determined. It is suppose to be in Serbia by 2014. At best it is going to supply Greece(bankrupt) Croatia southern tip of Italy, possibly hungary and maybe, maybe Austria. Those pipelines probably 10 years away. Plus these places already have sources of energy so you are talking switching over to Russian gas, so you are talking another few years.
On top of that Russia is supplying all the investment, and you think they are going to start witholding gas and foregoing income.
You really think that a pipeline that limted in Europe will have them by the cajones?
You miss one very important part of economics, you have to deliver the goods to get payment.

The way the west is going financially it’s not too long either, but the real affects will be felt in 2014 when South Stream comes through the region and Russia snares the EU in its clutches. It’s interesting that even the EU admits that it will be heavily reliant on Russian energy for its industry and then how long do you think Moscow will tolerate the US in Kosovo??????? Remember no energy no industry. For the less intellectually gifted Albanians, gas is not only used for heating, but heavily in industry because it non polluting or the best alternative to coal and safer than nuclear energy.

We are in no hurry, that is why over the last few weeks you have seen dozens of meetings with everyone in the EU from the top to the janitorial staff.

I like what I'm hearing and Nikolic is on record for making many similar comments recently. I like the reaction of many anti-Serb commentators as they seem agitated. Ashton recently announced that Nikolic must prepare for some difficult decisions. Now simply following the EU line, as sell-out Tadic did, was not difficult at all. In fact it was completely limp and spineless.

Now a difficult decision is to stick your middle finger up at Germany, which is what Nikolic seems to be doing. He is demanding respect for Serbia as otherwise no one would. These are all good signs and lets hope they are genuine.

Yes, we certainly have many friends. As I observe the geopolitical situation evolve, a pattern is definitely emerging. The Ukraine booted out their pro-Western government some time ago. There is a strong indication Georgia will follow come Monday. Serbia recently did the same and although I think we have some time to go, I am surprised at how quickly this cycle has come about.

So the time is coming to consolidate the new reality. The West is definitely weakening. Protests are increasing and people are becoming more and more disillusioned. Good for Nikolic for standing up for Serbia. He just needs to follow through.

Everyone knows that this "we are not in a hurry" is just a big dog pile. Those contradicting statements which you correctly point out are good examples for that. Serbia's economic situation is so devastating that the last thing what Belgrade needs is a conflict with EU. Nikolic and Co. know that noone can make it up for them since the EU market is the only market where Serbia can come out from the negative export trade, which comes especially because of those countries such as Russia and China (what a coincidence).

But wait in a few months when Serbia's debt ratio crosses the 60% line and see who will suddenly see that he is in a hurry and running like hell. He should actually pray that the VISA free regime with EU stays active.

Nikolic tells one story, Dacic another one. In the end something completely different happens.

You are a bit much mate. So far the final determination of where South Stream is going to supply is not determined. It is suppose to be in Serbia by 2014. At best it is going to supply Greece(bankrupt) Croatia southern tip of Italy, possibly hungary and maybe, maybe Austria. Those pipelines probably 10 years away. Plus these places already have sources of energy so you are talking switching over to Russian gas, so you are talking another few years.
On top of that Russia is supplying all the investment, and you think they are going to start witholding gas and foregoing income.
You really think that a pipeline that limted in Europe will have them by the cajones?
You miss one very important part of economics, you have to deliver the goods to get payment.
Maybe you need to stick to your area of financial expertise, 8.95 from 10 that will be 1.05 in change.

I have never come across a major project such as South Stream that is as you say “….. supply is not determined”. You don’t spend billions then say Ho hum that’s wrong I’ll do something else. South Stream is not a short term project. South stream will be operative in the Balkans by 2014. The Russians did not win the energy wars over the US for nothing.
Initially Croatia refused the Russians offer but now it is asking them to send a pipe through Croatia. At this stage Austria is out. If these countries already have energy why switch over? But more importantly where is Nabucco/

When you don’t behave the gas gets turned off just ask the Ukrainians or Poles. And that was forgoing income by Moscow.

Try running industry without energy. Why do you think the US went into Iraq? To free the people from a dictator? It called oil.

Even the Soviet communists knew that you have to deliver the goods to get paid and the Russians know it even better so once the gas it on all those reliant will try their hardest to keep in good with the supplier.

The way the west is going financially it’s not too long either, but the real affects will be felt in 2014 when South Stream comes through the region and Russia snares the EU in its clutches. It’s interesting that even the EU admits that it will be heavily reliant on Russian energy for its industry and then how long do you think Moscow will tolerate the US in Kosovo??????? Remember no energy no industry. For the less intellectually gifted Albanians, gas is not only used for heating, but heavily in industry because it non polluting or the best alternative to coal and safer than nuclear energy.
