marKo come on, slamming a cane onto the table is not the same as physically assaulting a man (kicking him) as Ilic did. There is no comparison in that case you mentioned. But this case is serious and Canak has to take responsibility and do the right thing.

Where people are getting it wrong here is to attack him for his politics which they oppose. Its the physical attack that matters here and not the man carrying out the attack.

As for what happens lets wait and see. I don't share you opinion that Canak is naturally a rageful man, but the word you used 'theatrics' is correct. He often says things to provoke, he is also a bit of a buffoon and joker, and one of those guys that people (including journalists) enjoy getting a provocative statements from. Depending on his mood, he is usually willing to perform, particularly in front of an audience. But this attack is at odds with that 'his bark is worse than his bite' view.

Bganon, I seem to remember Canak doing precisely that, and slamming his cane/bludgeon on a table in his own apartment when a reporter asked him some tough questions during the 2008 election Campaign. The main difference is that when they asked Velja he didn't deny it while Canak claimed that the man fell. Another difference is that Velja didn't employ a bodyguard. The final difference is that Velja has so much more charm and charisma, and his comment about "the grass not growing" where he struck turned an acute political embarrassment into a public relations victory with his supporters.

Besides, I suspect as you do that Canak's resignation is only theatrics. His pretensions about always being a principled victim speak more to his ego than reality. I think he is a rageful man, that does not play in the sandbox well with others. I am glad for that. I think regionalists and Mayberry Machiavelli are very bad for Serbia

The Serbs being fooled into a union with the Croats is equivalent to knowing the story of the scorpion and the trusting naive water turtle.Lenny must be worshipping at Pavelic's grave every night

The only difference between Croata and Serbs to any objective person is that Croats wanted to kiss Roman ass and the Serbs chose the Greeks in Constantinople.Nobody can tell the difference in the way you look or talk but the Croats will stab anybody in the back while the Serbs are more loyal to their friends. This Lenny buffoon suffers from illusions of grandeur because he calls himself ROMAN catholic but I have never heard an Italian say one good thing about Croats.Italians actually feel sorry for the Serbs because they were backstabbed by Croats.

What's all the fuss about? When the Kovacevic kid beat a student nearly to death in a bar in the U.S. we all learned that nobody worries about such trivia in Serbia. The guy was drunk, he insulted a girl - giving him a black eye was the least a Serb could do, right? But Kovacevic got invited to Parliament for his actions, and Canak is expected to resign from it? Strange.

I hear Turkish soap opera serials are hiring. They're a big hit on TV here. Now that he's no longer burdened with the weight of politics on his back, perhaps he should pursue his true calling? :)

According to the law, an MP who wishes to resign must personally submit their resignation to the parliament speaker, within three days of the document's court certification. That was put in for double tongue Serbian politicians their word means nothing never trust them. Negotiating with them is like trying to hold on to a slippery eel http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=04&dd=27&nav_id=74019 and many more their word is more then useless .

That's the first time I have ever heard of a letter of resignation being rejected because it lacked a "court stamp", sounds more like an excuse to keep his comfy position.

Please keep "trying" to resign Canak, hopefully one day they will let you go, you poor tortured soul...
