'ok' you need to get a better grasp of both English and democracy. Not supporting a pride parade is perfectly ok, opposing the right of people to hold one is not. The large majority of conservative parties in Europe will adopt the position I outlined.

Its only right wing extremists who have a problem with freedom of assembly - and even then they don't have a problem with ultra right wing organisations exercising those rights. Could it be that extremists are hypocrites? The answer seems obvious to any free thinker.

marKo thanks for stating your opinion, I recognise that although we disagree on some big issues, you have pretty consistent and principled views.

I am a Kostunica supporter, and I agree with the statement about the Constitution. I am disappointed, deeply disappointed by the statement about not allowing the Gay protest. Although the people who participate in such a protest do not it seems share my values, it is fundamentally wrong and undemocratic to block them. I feel this is a cheap political ploy that panders to populism, with the many challenges that Serbia faces, her politicians should work to unite people, and not marginalize groups or persons who wish to protest and voice their opinion. To defend their right, while in disagreement with their views, is the best defense of the Constitution and law and order.

O.K.

bganon you really need to get out more. A conservative party doesn't support a gay Pride Parade, and that's supposed to be a big shock to anyone?

You are one poor naive man(?). But for those who can actually read, it is clear Kacin's audacity to to even suggest Serbia, an independent and sovereign state, should change its Constitution, is a highly disrespectful and insulting gesture.

Any self-respecting head of state would declare Kacin persona non grata in the same situation.

In the privacy of your homes, do what you want as long as you are not hurting others. But dont parade around, recommending homosexuality as some sort of example of a good life. It isn't, as my gay friends are willing to admit. We are all Gods children, so respect us as we respect you. Good luck.

sorry, but was not aware that there is a law in Serbia that defines what "good life" is and anything against "good life" is prohibited, or actually (as Ahmedinajad would say) it does not exist :)

You should change the title of the article to "DSS advocates removal of freedom of protest, petition, assembly, association, expression, and speech from Serbian Constitution".

Our Otpor friend Comm. Parrisson is on it again:
Perhaps you've learned to read but either you don't understand what you read or you wish to twist it your way :)
DSS is right and Serbia should protest about this statement!

No surprises here. But in a way its good - it reminds our international Serbs who may normally support right wing national policies on Serbia (but not necessarily right wing in the countries they live in) what comes with extreme right wing thinking.

Of course the more extreme right wingers will support want to cancel the right to protest, if they disagree with their aims. On the other hand these freedom loving right wingers say that no organisations (strangely enough extreme right wing ones) should be banned from the political system.

This pick and choose system of principles is typical of Kostunica too.

“It is completely clear that Kacin means that a preamble that says that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia should be taken out of the Constitution,” he explained.

Maybe clear for a DSS official. For people who can read, it is something else: In the news article about Kacin it was said: "He pointed out that the Constitution should be changed after the Constitutional Court’s decision to revoke 23 regulations on Vojvodina’s authority."

So: It's about the decentralization, autonomy and local/provincial self administration, and not about Kosovo, Mr. Petkovic!

The DSS is a decent party with an intelligent political outlook, who stick to their principles. They have always been against the parade and remain so, unlike many in the SNS who went from being hugely opposed to it while in the SRS only to change when joining SNS. Hopefully they will be more successful in the future, they can see the issues which really are important in Serbia, not some sick perverted parade.
