You are delusional. Russia is projected to have the world's 4th largest economy by only 2020. While Russia managed to secure European partners for the South Stream Pipeline, the Western backed Nabucco Pipeline is a figment of our imaginations. You said couple days ago Russia was 'begging' Europe to buy natural resources. Why would anyone have to beg to sell resources that cannot be produced by man? Furthermore, you probably are clueless on how economics and business work because 'begging' will get you nowhere. Nobody will buy something because they feel bad for you and if they did, you really think it would be from Russia?

Just like Serbia, Russia has its own problems with Jihadists within its internationally recognized borders. Its military needs to be upgraded significantly so Orthodox Christian land can be defended from Jihadism.

Putin already did that brilliantly mind you. He defeated the Islamists in Chechnya, much like Serbia will do (and did before foreign bombardment) to our own Jihadists.

There is one problem with Russia, which has no means/capacity to wage wars simultaneously in different countries around the globe like USA,UK and France ,among some other western countries.
Just think for moment when US and its allies sent 100 of thousands of troops with full war machinery and feeding them around the globe. Russia does not have that power.

"Superpower" - means capable of projecting its power on every corner of the globe.
Example. Soviet Union had 9 aircraft carriers, Russia has 1, and that one is used to patrol waters off Siberia, as many soviet air bases were closed.
Putin merely wants to concentrate on defending Russia against all possible adversaries. Thus, they concentrate on, what they call "near abroad" - countries on their very borders.
There they don't want any force capable of challenging Russia.
Ukraine....they don't need it to be in some kind of defense block with Russia. They just don't want it to be in NATO, as that would be a challenge for Russia.
This defense policy makes every sense in their case, actually. To be "superpower" is a great military expense, and Russia really doesn't need it.
Do they need to go and fight for oil in Arab sand? No.
They have their own oil...and gas...and diamonds...and gold...and all kinds of minerals....it goes on, and on....
Russia's population is only 140 millions, and it has nearly 1/8 of world's land area with enormous mineral and energy deposits.
They just need to defend it.

Well Ian I must say I am impressed by your level of insider knowledge regarding international relations. The BRICS represents emerging economies from all parts of the world who share a common interest in providing some counter-balance to the Transatlantic alliance. BRICS isn't supposed to be some hostile enemy to the NATO countries, just another way of doing things. Why does that threaten you so much?

But your insider knowledge regarding China's view on Russia and international relations in general is quite impressive. Thank God, the petty Balkanians have a 'ahead of the curb' Western liberal to show us the way.

Oh but I'm not really thinking about BRICS. I realize the S does not stand for Serbia, although deepening relations with the BRICS collectively is a good idea.

I am more concerned with the formation of the Eurasian Union which is a union of the future for our continent. As Sreten said Russia is concerned with itself and its immediate surroundings, not every corner of the world..they don't need to be. Logically, Russia will look to do is integrate in an completely common market as well as military alliance with Belarus, Kazakhstan (and most likely Ukraine) thereby realigning the most important ex-Soviet republics.

The next logical goal would be integrating as many Orthodox Balkan countries as possible. With Ukraine, the Eurasian Union borders the Balkans and things could change rather quickly.

This is not to say that China will invade Russia. China's trying to intimidate Russia. Russia will turn to Nato for help. Specifically, they will improvie relations with the US.

Yes Russia does have a problem with Radical Islam, but maybe it wouldn't be such a problem if Russia wasn't ruling over other nations, many of which are Islamic. Also Putin is as much to blame for the Islamisation of parts of Russia as the so called "Jihadists" are. Putin installed radical Muslims and former terrorists as autonomous leaders of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov and his father before him. And that is why your average Joe Bloggs is happy to take a meal ticket and leave Russia, hence the decling population. Russia is having to import people from East Asia to populate St Petersburg Oblast and the surrounding areas, that is one of the most wealthy parts of Russia; yet the locals go elsewhere in search for a better life. The East Asians aren't enjoying life in St Petersburg as they fear being racially attacked in the streets and this is unfortunatly common place. So much for the mighty Russia.

That is the reason for limiting the access of new radical countries to nuclear weapons. Once a nuclear war starts there is no stopping until the world we know is devasted and the leaders of the new world will probably come from the southern hemisphere where nuclear weapons for the most part do not exist. The leaders of the the major countries realize this.
Also the numbers do not really matter. Russia has more than 50 times the warheads of the UK, but what UK has if released quickly enough would destroy the functionality of Russia.

BRICS isn't supposed to be some hostile enemy to the NATO countries, just another way of doing things. Why does that threaten you so much?

But your insider knowledge regarding China's view on Russia and international relations in general is quite impressive. Thank God, the petty Balkanians have a 'ahead of the curb' Western liberal to show us the way.

Oh but I'm not really thinking about BRICS. I realize the S does not stand for Serbia, although deepening relations with the BRICS collectively is a good idea.

I am more concerned with the formation of the Eurasian Union which is a union of the future for our continent. As Sreten said Russia is concerned with itself and its immediate surroundings, not every corner of the world..they don't need to be. Logically, Russia will look to do is integrate in an completely common market as well as military alliance with Belarus, Kazakhstan (and most likely Ukraine) thereby realigning the most important ex-Soviet republics.

The next logical goal would be integrating as many Orthodox Balkan countries as possible. With Ukraine, the Eurasian Union borders the Balkans and things could change rather quickly.

Besides who is going to invade Russia? It is in no-ones interests. I can only see China going to war with Russia in the forseeable future and Russia stands no chance!

I don't see any real chance of war between Russia and China, two totally different countries who mind their side of the fence.

Putin announced long ago that he does not intent to build Soviet-like military force.
"Superpower" - means capable of projecting its power on every corner of the globe.
Example. Soviet Union had 9 aircraft carriers, Russia has 1, and that one is used to patrol waters off Siberia, as many soviet air bases were closed.
Putin merely wants to concentrate on defending Russia against all possible adversaries. Thus, they concentrate on, what they call "near abroad" - countries on their very borders.
There they don't want any force capable of challenging Russia.
Ukraine....they don't need it to be in some kind of defense block with Russia. They just don't want it to be in NATO, as that would be a challenge for Russia.
This defense policy makes every sense in their case, actually. To be "superpower" is a great military expense, and Russia really doesn't need it.
Do they need to go and fight for oil in Arab sand? No.
They have their own oil...and gas...and diamonds...and gold...and all kinds of minerals....it goes on, and on....
Russia's population is only 140 millions, and it has nearly 1/8 of world's land area with enormous mineral and energy deposits.
They just need to defend it.

This is not to say that China will invade Russia. China's trying to intimidate Russia. Russia will turn to Nato for help. Specifically, they will improvie relations with the US.

Improving relations with the US is not a bad thing as long as they are not turned into some lapdog. Russia is not going to be intimidated by China. Why do you think China would do that? What has China got to gain by intimidating Russia in this way? You can't make these statements without clarifying them.

Just think for moment when US and its allies sent 100 of thousands of troops with full war machinery and feeding them around the globe. Russia does not have that power.

Is it any better in the USA behind the scenes??? It isn't Ian, there's a lot going off in the USA that is sinister immoral and downright evil.

That country will I promise you see an uprising before 2020. The people are being ripped off by their banking and finance institutions not to mention their own bloody government.

It's not much different in the UK either. If you look at it from a broader view, the whole planet is in trouble and it's not going to get any better any time soon. You'll see that this is accurate in due time.

Thus far I've not been wrong, I wish that I was. There will be an economic collapse on a global scale and it will be the cause of misery for many of us because of a few immoral corrupt greedy rich bastards, all those at the top. They are the real enemy and it's time that all people woke to that fact and did something about it.

For instance the most expected plan of elimination of the UK is supposed to be one 50 megaton H-bomb dropped in the Atlantics some 50 km away from where you try to look smart. They say it will be enough. Thus the 3 century problem of ours will be solved. As simple as that ! I guess Russia has simple solutions for all potential rivals.

With 25 mln Russians abroad we have moral rights to expect them to be back sometimes. Asians are just gasarbeiters to help us wait for EU go bankrupt. Then we’ll be hosting English gastarbeiters. Another bad news is that the Ukraine seems to be back to he mother Russia soon. And as another Russophobe ( Z. Brzezinski ) has once said Russia + the Ukraine is a great country again … Imagine how bad he felt when he said those terrible words ! I guess it will be better that any H-bomb. You know most Russians believe that the worst enemy of ours is not the USA but the UK and so do I.

But all nukes are, are simply deterrents (and that is one of the reasons why all our nukes are on submarines as you never know where on the earth they are). We have the ability to wipe any country off the face of the earth, but would we ever do that? No. Because another nuclear power could wipe us of the face of the earth in minutes. And of course in a nuclear war there are no winners, everyone is a looser. That is why they're deterrents.

And you can 'believe' what you want, but the UK and the US are not enemies of Russia; and vice versa.

And Britain and Russia are traditional allies and we have rather good diplomatic and economic relations. But if you really think that, then fair play. Many people in the UK would wear that as a badge of honour. Cheers for over estimating and over-rating us.

Do you not realize that the moment the hint of a nuclear attack by Russia anywhere, would not result in the release of 1000 nuclear warheads toward Russian soil.
That is the reason for limiting the access of new radical countries to nuclear weapons. Once a nuclear war starts there is no stopping until the world we know is devasted and the leaders of the new world will probably come from the southern hemisphere where nuclear weapons for the most part do not exist. The leaders of the the major countries realize this.
Also the numbers do not really matter. Russia has more than 50 times the warheads of the UK, but what UK has if released quickly enough would destroy the functionality of Russia.
My advice just keep the threat of nuclear war to oneself.
