The EU as we knew it gone. Why do they keep hearing the same stuff over and over again? Because this is part normal government policy behaviour – they keep on repeating it until policy changes; that’s why you hear this rather comical opera of “we wish to join” from Serbia and “yes you must join” from the EU
(sj, 6 September 2012 10:52)

Yep, you are correct about Serbia. As for the EU, they are trying to find all possible reasons not to have a failed state like Serbia (i.e. another Greece and Cyprus, combined) to join the EU.
----------

We all know the main EU member players in financial trouble and now for some new ones to be added.
Monday morning Asian rating agencies downgraded the EU zone; Slovenia told the EU it needs cash injection very soon otherwise…..; Croatia advised Brussels that they are in trouble and need financial support – farmers asking for help because their crops were destroyed by the drought got a reply from Zoran Milanovic, the government has no money to help. Montenegro told Brussels it needed money in January 2012. Before the GFC the main players in the EU were UK, France and Germany, but today its only France and Germany – in fact it’s more like only Germany.

You still holding onto this unproven hope? Good. Please do because when the time comes for our leaders to rejoice at imminent EU membership, I want this thrown in their path so we have a perfect excuse to not accept membership :)

Nice to see that you've taken the bait too.

There is no chance in hell that Serbia will join the EU while it still disputes Kosovo.

You're rather defensive over the "Kosovo Recognition Precondition" for someone who doesn't want Serbia in the EU. What are you, a closet europhile?

Now when is Serbia joining?????? Now were does Kosova stand in all of this? Right behind repairing the blocked sewerage pipe outside Brussels Parliament.

Nikolic, Tadic, Dacic, etc......the morally and ideologically bankrupt children of Yugoslavia will sell Serbia to the highest bidder if it brings them closer to another grand Union. To these men, Serbia can only exist in a Union, something greater than itself. Serbia was freed from the Ottomans, fought and died to free itself from the Austro-Hungarians, warred to free itself from the NAZI-then it sold its sole to be in a union with Croats and slovenes, an abomination called Yugoslavia. Now Serbia gives up its land, its very soul to be in another Union with the Croats, Slovenes, Germans, Belgians, etc.

Let it Be-let Serbia sell its land, its character and its soul to be in a union with the German and thier friends-we know the ultimate outcome of that-let history run its course! The poloiticians of Serbia today will never be able to run away from the specious lie they propogate.

True but it is the position of several EU member states who can stop Serbia from becoming a member.

He pointed out that the government instruction to its representatives taking part in meetings in which Kosovo Albanians also participate "demonstrated that Serbia is committed to both the (Kosovo) dialogue and to EU membership" - and that it was now "EU's turn".

Hey there T.Nikolic quick question do you seriously think you can offer & trick the E.U. with these stale carrots? I mean come on their pal, how much more proof do you politicians of Serbia need? I can see now why Serbia can't get anywhere. It's been pretty obvious for a while now that in-order for Serbia to make its next leap forward, towards E.U. membership they will have to face up to realty & recognize that serbia must establish good neighborly relations with all of Serbia's neighboring Country's in the balkan's, including Kosova! Simply put there is absolutely no other alternative, well maybe one alternative. Ah almost forgot this last line that T. NIKOLLIC gave, makes me think that Mr,PUTIN is really not that enthusiastic about financially bailing out the Serbs again, must be charging a sky high interest rate!

"It is very important for Putin to fulfill the promise he gave me in May, after my election to office that Russia will do all in its power to make sure Serbia gets back on its feet," the president said.

It's not but "normalizing relations" is, which is soft recognition. If the administrative line is recognized as a border which is subject to customs, that is de facto recognition.

"The EU should either stop or deny such stories, or show through openness of its actions toward Serbia that it was not behind them," Nikolić noted.

No EU for Serbia without Kosovo recognition. EU will not stop or deny anything. You and all the serbs should stop living in denial. Good neighborly relations is a diplomatic way of saying recognition of Kosovo. And since you guys act like you don't understand what that means,Schultz made it clear to you yesterday. So now in your fantasy world pick EU or Kosovo, by the way you have neither of them.
