"You don't have to - I did not say that as I don't have to not be concerned :)

Of course I don't have to be concerned. Which was why I wondered why you wrote to me about Leonidas at all. Anyway you wrote that "I'm not sure our fellow poster Leonidas would be really thrilled" -- well, if the suspense of not being sure about how thrilled Leonidas would be bothered you that much, then you should ask him/her directly rather than address me on that issue. As it is, at this present moment, you are still no wiser as to how thrilled Leonidas is or is not, right?

And why should I be concerned about whether Leonidas, you or any other posters are thrilled or not?

That's assuming, of course, that the EU will still be around then. Won't surprise me if Germany, the powerhouse of the EU, eventually were to realize/acknowledge the absurdity of bailing out member after member after member or just cannot afford to do so anymore -- the German electorate are totally fed up -- and then Germany decides to QUIT the EU first!!!! I don't think such a scenario is too far-fetched when that day of reckoning comes!

Yeah, even though I'm not sure our fellow poster Leonidas would be really thrilled about that scenario

Who says that he was not delivering a stronger message to make the weaker message more agreeable? Rather than think there is dissent within the EU, it is more likely that each of the actors has a script to read.

Consider, three or four years ago, we were arguing whether all of Kosovo is part of Serbia, last year, we were arguing whether northern Kosovo is part of Serbia, and now we are arguing whether Serbia must recognize Kosovo, or merely establish normal neighborly relations with it (so de-facto recognition)...

LOL! The EU shooting itself in the foot. I like it!

LOL indeed! What a piss poor marketing strategy these Eurocrats have: recognize a partially sovereign and legally contested entity that completely contradicts international legal frameworks, or your possible membership in a stagnating economic zone on the verge of collapse is in jeopardy. We should actually hope Schultz is correct since it might actually save Serbia from complete international takeover! :)

"In his statement, he just said the obvious. The president sees the fate of Kosovo and Serbia as future EU member states," Deutsche Welle cited the explanation released by Schulz's office."

The fate of "Kosovo" and Serbia as future EU member states ...... or perhaps as future EU lackeys to the real EU overlords -- Germany, France, UK (assuming the latter survives Scotland's independence bid that is) ......

"The release adds that the EP president "would prefer not to comment on what others have to say about this issue"."

Of course he won't wanna dwell further into it. Because it means either he or Fule just made a fool of himself.

"EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule commented late on Tuesday to say that "normalization of relations, not mutual recognition", was a condition set by the EU before Serbia.

Schulz, who spoke after his meeting in Brussels with Serbian PM Ivica Dačić, is the first EU politician who has mentioned the need for "mutual recognition between Belgrade and Priština in the EU accession process", says Tanjug."
