I would say it like that: Without additional money (double salary?), no person from an European state with a sane mind would have applied voluntarily for a EULEX/UNMIK job in Kosovo. Well, even the poor KFOR soldiers (who, as soldiers, are forced to go there and cannot refuse it) get additional money for the 'pleasure' they can enjoy in the democratic, multi-ethnic state of Kosovo.
(Comm. Parrisson, 19 August 2012 20:33
And you know of other places that peacekeepers go voluntarily without extra pay???
As for the poor Kfor soldiers, remember their primary responsibility is still to insure no Serbian forces enter Kosovo. And about 90% of their most recent duties has been to counter Serbian acts of violence and maintain freedom of movement inhibited by Serbs.

If it's a pleasure for internationals to stay in a place like Kosovo (apart from being well payed), I have some doubts about. For the rest, agreement!

Thaci and Haradinaj can not be compared with Dacic and Nikolic. I think everybody knows the reason.
(gjon fusha, 18 August 2012 17:58)

Sure! Mr. D and N. are not alleged war criminals, unlike Mr. H, or former mafia bosses suspected to be involved in organ harvesting (like Mr. T).

Of course we know the reason

Yes. Dacic and Nikolic are not considered war criminals.

Joking aside, don't you guys in Kosovo have some politicians who fulfull basic standard, like in normal countries?

Great Hoxha's Rotting Corpse, what the Hell are these people smoking in Kosovo*? Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves in suggesting an indicted war criminal still on trial in the Hague can take part in dealing with Belgrade? "As soon as he is acquitted of charges"? My goodness these politicians are optimistic. I mean even if he succeeds in killing all remaining witnesses to testify against him and return to "Kosova" as another "hero", I'd like to think the civilized world would want this guy to quietly retire from political life. After all, murderers and warlords do not run multiethnic democratic states in Europe. But since they're already hallucinating over this, it's not that far to trip out on the idea of applying to the UN and getting Serbia to recognize Kosovo as well.

While we're at it and all silly, why not demand the annexation of Presevo? :)

"Haradinaj’s close associate Blerim Shala told Koha Ditore that the AAK’s condition would be that Haradinaj is given the PM’s position “as soon he is acquitted of charges for murder, torture and cruel treatment during the conflicts in Kosovo by the Hague Tribunal”."

Amazing. But somehow, a 'honorable person' like him perfectly fits to a 'independent democratic state' like Kosovo - even better than Thaci.

Joking aside, don't you guys in Kosovo have some politicians who fulfull basic standard, like in normal countries?

Shala said that Priština would in the upcoming talks with Belgrade offer “additional guarantees for the Serbs in the north within the Ahtisaari plan”, that it would apply for a UN membership and that it would request from Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence so “the two countries could normalize their relations”. B92
Good luck with that one, Shala. What the hell does Belgrade get out of recognizing an independent Albanian KiM? Just look at how the Albanians treat the Serbs now, beatings, murder, robberies, harassment at administrative lines, raids on Serbian property by Albanian cops - just imagine how they would behave if they truly were independent, and given total rein. It would the recognition of death for the Serbs in Kosovo. They would all have to flee to save their lives. And what is it with the constant mention of the Ahtisaari plan, that died in UNSC. Case closed with that biased plan. Interesting the name Shala, goes with what he is proposing.

"Political analyst Leon Malazogu told Danas that it was not very likely that Thaci could become a new president of Kosovo at the moment because current President Atifete Jahjaga would insist on keeping the office."

Read: The US would insist that the person they 'proposed' (i.e. put to office) as president of Kosovo is not removed.

"... that it would apply for a UN membership and that it would request from Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence so “the two countries could normalize their relations”.

My god, in what kind of illusions and dreams these people are living? Theres exactly 0% chance for Kosovo to become an UN member, and maybe 1% that Serbia is recognizing Kosovo. Though, I would like Kosovo to apply for UN membership: The inevitable refusal by Russia (and China, probably) in the UNSC would show the world once more that Kosovo is not a normal state like others.
