Over 5,000 citizens greet Serbian Olympians

It shows that despite a below par performance that people in Serbia are enthusiastic about the olympics and sport in general.

However, the way successive governments - including this one with an even weaker sports minister have not invested in sport is disgraceful. Sports clubs are left to rot, existing facilities have not been improved - there is NO eye on the future of sport as there is in other countries. Coaches who excelled in their sports go to other countries to teach others.

Instead of development and encouragement of future sportsmen and sportswomen what we get is the odd gold medalist is given a house. Of course its welcome, but it does absolutely nothing to help encourage or improve the chances of those thinking of going into sport as a career.

There is zero sporting strategy and for a country that takes more pride in its sporting success than most, its a pitiful state of affairs.
