We all know that Good Neighbourly Relations and close Cooperation between European Countries and Regions is a European Value.

It is surprising that even a Croat, whose Country wants to join the European Union should object to that.

Perhaps being Croatian tends to make a Person more likely to object to Good Neighbourly Relations and close Cooperation between European Countries and Regions.

Even Kosovo Albanians have said that they want Good Neighbourly Relations and close Cooperation with Albania.

Serbia does not care if Albanians from Albania decide to give their Money to Kosovo Albanians and if Albania decides to side with the Kosovo Albanians.

This is because this will keep Albanians from Albania poor, and it will give more reasons for the Genocide Case against Albania.

We have seen that Serbs do not object to, or interfere with the Good Neighbourly Relations of the Croats from Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia, or with Kosovo Albanians and Albania, and as such, other should not object to or interfere with the Republic of Srpska and Serbia.

I must (somewhat reluctantly) agree with those that wish to see Kostunica return to a prominent postion (PM or President) in Serbian government. Tadic sold us out, and Nikolic and Dacic are already taking us backwards, but no surprise there. At best, Kostunica would put us on a very slow, painful track to recovery, but honestly, that is best option for Serbia right now. Look across political landscape and who can do better? A strong rise (the type Milivoj mentions) is big pipe dream - ain't gonna happen. No matter how much Russian love we get. Most Russians are struggling (ever been?), so why should we expect to be delivered from our current disposition? Besides, I agree with Milan, Putin is autocrat and that is VERY bad formula for country's success. Russia may fare better than most countries in years ahead because all their natural resources and technological expertise, but their prospects of becoming great superpower are overstated. So, no Milivoj, a phone call to Russia is not the simple success formula for Serbia.

Kostunica won't give us much but he'll keep us from sinking further and further into the quick sand. Unlike Nikolic and Dacic, he actually has half a brain :-)

Yes, it is well known that Iran supported Alija in the 90's, and it is also well known that Iran is a staunch ally of Syria, Russia and China, so what Confused in Canada is saying is true: arms originating in Russia and China could be sold to Iran and Syria, then passed through to Muslims to be used against Serbs. Russia and China have a strong alliance with Iran in part because of the Iranian demand for weapons/weapons technology from those two states.

Serbs could acquire the same materials from Russia to even things out somewhat, but that's about as far as it goes in terms of real support from our Orthodox Slav brothers to the east. For all that we read about Konuzin's interest in helping Kosovo, and Russian financial and food aid to our southern province, Russia has done little to help us in our struggle over the years. Milosevic tried picking up the phone to Putin's mentor, Yeltsin, many times, but where did that get us? Anyway, Putin is too busy trying to jail young, beautiful, Russian protesters/musicians for speaking out against his presidency. That is pretty undemocratic, by the way, and I'm one Serb who hopes that we limit our relationship with Moscow. Nikolic says he wants closer ties but he should be careful. Best to be neutral, just like Kostunica says.

Yes, Jovan, Srbija is rising. No longer humbled by evil West, with Mother Russia picking us up, it OUR time now. Nikolic respect Putin, god of Orthodox Slavs, and that is EVERYTHING. We want back what ours and with help of Putin we take it. Milosevic bring SHAME to Srbija when he lose EVERYTHING. But NIkolic WISE and CLEVER Serb, he pick the right friend. Jovan: I agree with you regarding the RS. The census of 1991 should be used to determine the proportion of land that the Serbs can take with them into Serbia; I believe it is around 35%. Then they can argue about which bits they want: the 49% was agreed upon with the RS being a part of BiH not Serbia. The fly in this ointment is that many Serbs in Serbia would prefer that their country cousins stay put where they are. In addition, Dodik likes to be 'the man' which he clearly is in the RS. Once a part of Serbia, Dodik would be just another provincial leader. Anyway Jovan, despite what you and I may think, and clearly our visions are different, the RS is remaining a part of BiH for our lifetimes unless you expect to live to be 120 :-))

@Ned Taylor: Merkels approach was quite stupid, indeed. But I doubt that this is going to unfold to trouble between brothers... after all, there is little the west can do to slow down what seems inevitable: uniciation of the RS with mother Serbia.

that will only be a first step, liberation of KiM will be the next.

but all that will need some time.

Ned Taylor

This meeting will be very interesting and will be closely watched by those in Bosnia who oppose Dodik, notably the opposition in the RS, and the international community. Dodik openly campaigned for Nikolic's (and Dacic's)opponents and he may decide to leave him up in the air for a while by way of a rebuke. Nikolic will want to say, implicitly at least, that he is the big fish amongst Serbs and that Dodik is the country cousin. Merkel found out that taking sides in a Presidential election, especially when you back the loser (Sarkozy), is a foolish endeavour.
